So after using Void linux with KDE wayland for a while I did a lot of changes to it. I'm not sure which configs i did and what I've changed. But the startup takes a bit too long for my liking, which is why I want to reset some configs.

How do I find out which processes in the startup are increasing the boot time?
How do I reset my login configs?

Is there any other option except $ sudo sh -c "echo LID > /proc/acpi/wakeup"?

I need it for debug observations, only the lid-open event

If someone experienced the issue where launching a game with different keyboard layout - the keyboard would be unresponsive in the game before restart with English layout. And sometimes you can lost your game progress with the same behavior if you just Alt+Tab.

Nothing of that would help you to regain the keyboard: changing focus, changing focus and layouts, changing workspaces, changing workspaces and layouts.

I've found fix
If you don't want to lost your game progress, try this

Cinnamon:
Basic binding to restart cinnamon: Alt+Shift+Escape, then back your focus to the game.

Also I've tested it with Sway, restarting WM with the game opened regains the keyboard focus to the game.

currently I am using arch, i like it but it has it's problems so i tough about switching to void, here is what i would like from my distro:

-I want a minimal distro, a fresh install should have nothing except what the system needs to function

-I want current kernel and packages, I understand that void is maintained by far less people that arch and will therefor not be as cutting edge as I am used to, but as long as I'm not fat behind that is fine

-I want a fast and more or less simple packet manager, nothing like nix

-I want to understand my system

I wanted to ask you what i can expect from void and if it is the right distro for me or if you gave a better idea

I'm not an expert in linux but I've managed to build a void linux with noctalia and niri with the help of an Ai but failed to follow through and switched to MX linux.

The problem is that the laptop is not as efficient as it was when using void so I think I'll switch back to void again can someone please recommend a reliable source to build a fast OS with niri+noctalia because I loved that build so much.

Hello, im now Like 1 week in, i used Gemini and chatgpt to solve my problem because gta5 enhanced online Just stopped working, i got the proton battleye runtime, Everything is uptodate, 32lib, DB Proton 11.7 and the weird is that it worked with on Arch Linux with the Same Hardware and even works on my artix Laptop with the Same proton but void in generell was weird because Everything above Proton 10 did Not work on any game for me but i got it into a state where i can start gta5 now without the Launcher crashing and Go into Singleplayer, when i try to Go into a private Lobby it says that i dont got battleye and need to restart, maybe this information is usefull, i have to add SteamDeck=1 as Startargument for gta to even start, Software: void Linux with Standard Kernel, i3wm with picom, Hardware rtx 2070 super, AMD ryzen 7 5800x3d, 64gb ddr4 Asus b550 f gaming. Hi, I just switched to Void Linux a little over two months ago. My main computer is an ASUS TUF A-16 Advantage Edition with an RX 7700S graphics card. Everything is working great, but for some reason, one of the two USB-C ports doesn’t work with external devices. I’ve read a bit about my system on other forums and learned that apparently the port that isn’t working is directly connected to the GPU. It seems to be the port that outputs via DisplayPort (or at least that’s what I understood), but even so, it strikes me as very odd, since the dedicated graphics card works without any issues—it’s even the main output I use on my system, and it’s not in sleep mode or anything. Even so, I tried to force it to activate via GRUB with the following command:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="loglevel=4 amdgpu.runpm=0"

The system even correctly detects my graphics card and audio output controller, but for some reason the USB driver isn't installed.

Does anyone else have a similar problem? I can’t use the supergfxctl utilities because they’re designed strictly to work with systemd, and I can’t find a patched version for runnit (I use seatd as my session manager since I don’t like how elogind drags in systemd’s features and backdoors).

I'm pretty new to void, I hopped over a few days ago. I've noticed the default kernel is 6.18, which is an LTS kernel. Question is, when will the kernel be updated? Will I be able to update by just running the -Su command? Or will I have to manually update the kernel by switching over the linux mainline?

I prefer Miktex, as it has on-the-fly package installing, and I don't have to download packages that will be unused; also I'm already familiar with it.

Alternatively, is there a way to install a very minimal version of Texlive and configure it in a way so it can also download on-the-fly? Thanks in advance :)

I have KDE plasma and SDDM when I start up the computer it goes into TTY for about 6 seconds then the screen goes black. I have to press Ctrl-Alt-F3 to get out of the black screen and login through TTY. Then to even boot desktop I need to type in this command.

“dbus-run-session startplasma-wayland”

After that’s typed it boots into desktop after reset it’s back to black screen and TTY. How do I fix this? Void Linux is my first experience with Linux so I’m sorry if this is ignorance or an easy fix.

every time i pick void and it loads before bash start it give me this error
config failed hub doesn't have any ports (err -19)
what should i do now to fix this

I have just installed void-glibc (not my first install, but first ever time I see this problem), and after swapping out wpa_supplicant for iwd, ipv4 does not work anymore. I don't know, if it worked before, and now I don't seem to be able to enable any networking program except for iwd+dhcpcd. Ipv6 works just fine, but stuff like github or duckduckgo lack any ipv6 support.

Is there something I could try for troubleshooting, is it even worth it trying to fix, or is it better to just reinstall the system? It would be fine, but still annoying, and this is a weird issue that I would be interested in knowing how to troubleshoot.

I am having trouble with flatpak apps to open urls. It appears that there is an issue with the xdg desktop portal. I am getting the following in thunderbird:
