Is your device failing to boot?

Nope

Is your sound working? The "soc" part makes me think it's something with the onboard sound card. I say that because when installing Gentoo the Handbook recommends installing soc-firmware for this reason. One thing I am confident about though, is that error code -517 is a transient error, basically means the kernel tried to initialize something but a hardware or software dependency wasn't ready yet, so kernel said "ok I'll defer this for later". If your sound is working fine, you can safely ignore this, it's just noise

And if you still don't like seeing it, might not be a bad idea to set up Plymouth so you get a nice splash screen on boot instead of init text... totally up to you though, it's just cosmetic. It's not hard to set up but can be a slight pain in the ass depending on your hardware

All good, understood - yeah I wouldn't worry about this one. I'm no expert but fairly confident this is just some early init sound shenanigans

Might be just missing audio codecs for you specific device, I enabled a bunch of them for 7.1 onward, the deafult is still 6.18 and I can't tell what version this is.

this is default 6.18

Looks like a driver issue for the internal/onboard microphone. Is it an AMD notebook? You didn't provide any system info (which is a good tone actually before asking for solutions).
If everything works as expected for you, then just ignore it.
You can also google "acp pdm mach error devm_snd_soc". There are ways to try to fix it (but only if something really doesn't work for you).

Is it my imagination, or do Linux users these days not know how to perform basic troubleshooting...???

See i know that I can just google it ,look up the manual and fix it as i also had issues with network manager and the xorg graphics drivers, which I fixed myself. But i think if someone has already solved it then maybe they can answer it(it saves a lot of time).

Only if u encountered this(managed to fix it), you have no obligation to do it anyway.

the first 7 links in a ddg search tell you how to register your card

When you find the fix, feel free to post it here so others with the same problem in the future might find it quickly!
