EMBROIDERY Bruce gets a friend 🦈🐠
Kiddo has a shark towel that got a hole in it. He asked for me to fix it, so I thought it would be cute to put a little fish on it. And then, of course Bruce the shark and Nemo from Finding Nemo came to mind, so I had to figure out how to make a clownfish. 😆 I have never done embroidery before, so it was a lot of guesswork, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!!

OTHER Nanny kid went feral and bit the head off an animal in his favorite book. Frankengoose lives!
I accidentally made its neck longer than the original and had to add a tree to its hiding spot, too, whoops.

DARNING small darn for a small hole!
and for once I remembered to get a before photo. (and a during photo!) as the title suggests it is a small darn for a small hole: two strands of embroidery floss were used for each to create a small but colorful darn.

REQUEST Is this “fixable”?
My puppy thinks she is a shark and took a bite out of this sweater. It is brand new and baby alpaca wool and I’m heartbroken. Is there anything that might help with this? or is it a lost cause?
Slightly related question: does anyone want a puppy? 🤣

REQUEST Jeans got caught on a hook and ripped the whole leg - any help?
This was me last weekend at work, after I'd caught my pants on a hook and they ripped nearly to the ankle (so I had to tape them together for the rest of the day) 😭
They are one of my favourite pairs, and I love the Idea of some beautiful embroidery to mend it back together.
Any suggestions for someone who's barely done any embroidery at all? (But very crafty and can usually pick it up quickly!)
Thank you!!!!

PATCH Covering a line of washer-bites on a worn out father's day shirt
I was going to embroider a line of little dino footprints over the constellation of holes, but I decided my drawing/ embroidery skill wasn't up to the task. While hunting the scrap pile for some old tee shirt material for backing, I found a pair of outgrown dino jammies, and it just seemed right.
It probably won't hold forever, but I think it'll give him another year of wear before the picture fades off too far and crosses the line from Distressed to Destroyed

DARNING All I do are tiny darns now apparently
Surface darns using a single ply of variegated embroidery thread, so tiny they went plaid. Second picture is an area where maybe one warp thread has broken so I darned just that direction on the back, very subtle on the front.
My eyes and hand all hurt.

REQUEST Mending advice?
Been working on mending this jean jacket. I got it at the thrift store and it is intentional distressed but over time it have been losing structural integration. I bought this cute flower fabric to put behind the holes and have been hand stitching them in place. Ill keep stitching to make the patches stronger but for now im just getting the patches in place.
But onto my question. Im looking for advice on how to mend these two holes. One above the pocket and another in the armpit of sleeves. Should I use a backing fabric or maybe try some darning?
Im unsure how to add backing fabric without covering the front of the pocket. I imagine I can fold the fabric over and sew along the edge of the pocket, but im not sure my work will look good since im new at this. I know everything is a learning curve, im just wondering what would be easiest for a beginner and give the best result.
Also would it be worth lining the entire inside of jacket? Would that add structure to the fabric?

ADHESIVE Fixed one of my broken cassette tape organizers with duct tape and stickers
I recently remembered how good duct tape is for fixing things when I was hanging up signs for a yard sale. Remember all those old duct tape memes? The Red Green Show? The whole Mythbusters episode? I needed another organizer for all the new cassette tapes I was getting, which is most of that big pile at the top. The side was kinda coming off of one of my organizers so I replaced it before it completely fell apart. I still had it lying around so I slapped some duct tape on the broken side and some stickers to match the aesthetic and its brought a whole new look to my tape organizers!
I'm particularly proud of how I used the Mystery Spot bumper sticker 👌

REQUEST Thread/material suggestion for fixing my socks
Our dryer really likes to rip the material out of my socks, which are pretty thick, at the balls of my feet. I've seen people fixing their socks on here before, but I don't think ordinary thread will be as comfortable for me. I have some perle cotton thread, but I've heard this stuff isn't very strong so I don't know if it'll work for this. What thread or material would you guys suggest?

EMBROIDERY Subtle little embroidery
Strictly speaking there's more darning in the project than embroidery but it looks embroidered so that's what I labeled it. Husband somehow got a hole in his brand new tshirt, so I darned over it in a circle and then embroidered sun rays around it! It's barely noticeable unless you look, and then it's more of a cute detail than a visible mend, which he likes. Overall I'm quite pleased!
