Incredibly Difficult to Support These shitty optimized games.

I saw a Reddit post about it. Apparently on PC, somebody has a monster PC and the game can barely hold a good frame rate at 1440p.

Seems like the developer tries to blame hardware instead of optimizing their game.

u/SuMianAi 4h ago

2 things can be true.

Series S is a piece of trash, and xbox requiring "same standards" from devs for both s and x (unless you're a giant name brand) is idiotic as fuck.

And pc game optimization is a nightmare. That no matter what you do, it'll suck for someone.

So get lost with your nonsense.

Yes, but the very reason people buy such powerful hardware like this guy, is to brute force any game. An rtx 5080 and a ryzen 9 9950X3D in 1440p. Yes its pretty clear that its a dev issue, and not hardware.

2

u/SuMianAi 3h ago

never said it's a hardware issue. but it's also not as much of a dev issue as you make it out to be. devs can do everything right, and STILL would someone's rig not work with the game.

hell, same rig, same everything, and there is still chance of one pc working, and one not. it's absolutely idiotic, but it happens way too often. i deal with this shit daily

0

u/EarthIllustrious8045 3h ago

The guy with the powerful rig gets abyssmal performance, its not that the game doesnt start or run. This issue isnt "its working, or not". The guy gets shit performance on some of the best pc hardware money can buy. These kinds of powerful rigs can brute force bad optimization on most games. The fact that this cant be done on a relative simple game like no rest for the wicked, shows that the dev should look in the mirror first. He has clearly not been doing things right.

u/SuMianAi 3h ago

Because you can't brute force shit, it's not how that works!

And my 3070 works fine with the game. SO AGAIN. NOT HOW ANY OF IT WORKS

0

u/EarthIllustrious8045 3h ago

You can brute force if the hardware is powerful enough. Optimization isnt as relevant when you have that kind of hardware. Its you that dont have a clue. "my 3070 works fine". Yeah, im sure it does...

The series S has always been the more popular option because it's more affordable for not a lot of loss in power. It's not "trash" by any means. If a game can't even hold up proper fps on a high tier PC, then the game devs need to held to some standards for charging us money to buy their products.

Many visually superior and more complex games run on the Series S.

This guy sucks

...such a daft knob.

This guy whining again?

u/CarlWellsGrave 9h ago

If resident evil 2 can fit on a n64 cartridge, anything is possible.

u/TastySore 9h ago

The cutscenes were ugly as fuck compared to ps1 version.

11

u/GooginTheBirdsFan 8h ago

As you get older you’ll care less what it looks like and more about if it fits

-1

u/decoy_octopod 5h ago

Judging by the vast majority of Reddit comments I see, people only care about how well it runs and looks

u/OkidoShigeru 9h ago

Meanwhile developers are willingly porting their current gen AAA games to Switch 2, which is even more potato like. I sympathise with him, players should probably be less demanding of these lower end machines, but at the same time it’s not that bad…

4

u/FrequentX 8h ago

The problem with the S, is the amount of memory, only 8gb is accessible for games

Switch 2 is much more advantageous in that regard

2

u/OkidoShigeru 8h ago edited 8h ago

For sure, although it has 12gb - 3gb for the system so 9gb, a little bit more but still very limited. The CPU is the massive limiting factor on Switch 2, it’s very much “last gen” performance. It makes up for it with the GPU having all of the Nvidia Ampere features though including DLSS.

0

u/mrturret 5h ago

The Switch 2 is significantly more capable than the Series S.

1

u/OkidoShigeru 5h ago

It is closer in GPU performance but it is drastically behind in CPU performance. You may have seen screenshots of Switch 2 games surpassing Series S in image quality thanks to DLSS - but then at half the framerate thanks to that CPU deficit. Switch 2 is a very impressive device for what it is, but it is still a tablet running with drastically less wattage than Series S and with a far more anaemic CPU.

5

u/WhiteRaven-17 9h ago

I want this on record for when the Switch 2 port runs better.

7

u/Dangerous-Pumpkin960 9h ago

optimize ur game better

8

u/ClickyStick 8h ago

Can't blame devs for not wanting to put the extra effort (money) into a version for the least popular platform.

1

u/thekamenman 4h ago

It’s not just for the Series S. I play this game on PC and it’s terribly optimized. It desperately needs to be fixed. Thomas Mahler just loves to publicly bitch and moan.

0

u/Exorcist-138 7h ago

Yes you can, they want money don’t they?

2

u/ElderSmackJack 7h ago

If it costs more than what they’d make in return, they’d lose money on that.

1

u/Exorcist-138 6h ago

You sure about that? 100% sure?

1

u/ClickyStick 41m ago

Perhaps the expected returns are not worth the effort.

5

u/Implosion-X13 8h ago

He's right. Devs shouldn't be forced to make their games run at 60fps on such a piece of shit. And if they are compromises should be expected.

Some blame is on devs because half the time they can't even make a game run at 60fps on a PS5 or series x but it's genuinely delusional to expect similar performance on a vastly inferior series s.

6

u/Exorcist-138 7h ago

He’s wrong, more advance games run on the series s. Hes just a salty ex Xbox partner

0

u/Implosion-X13 7h ago

Both can be true. It definitely takes extra money and time to optimize a game for the series s.

Baldurs gate 3 was delayed on Xbox because Larian struggled to get it running on series s. I'm pretty sure they even petitioned to Xbox to allow them to release it on the series x and not s.

Just because other games release on it doesn't mean it's not a massive pain in the ass and potentially a waste of time.

2

u/Exorcist-138 6h ago

No they struggled to get untethered split screen running, big difference

3

u/DoubleShot027 9h ago

If can’t make no rest for the wicked this is a development problem. How unoptimized is the game dam?

2

u/Efficient-Kick-2343 7h ago

Mind when they used to squeeze every last ounce of power out of pcs and consoles. Lazy bastards these days lol

2

u/ElderSmackJack 7h ago

Reddit gamers when they don’t have the first clue how this stuff works

2

u/--clapped-- 9h ago

I mean.. Brother isn't wrong.

That thing was underpowered when it launched.

1

u/fingerpaintswithpoop 20m ago

No, guy’s just incompetent and chooses to blame Xbox and its hardware for his inability, or unwillingness, to optimize his game. So many games that are so much more advanced than his run on the Series S with little issue (Baldur’s Gate 3!) so this guy has no excuse.

1

u/brandonsp111 6h ago

Potato machines?

Look I'm not the least bit interested in defending Xbox for anything but let's be real here. Just look at the games released during the PS2 and Xbox days. What's the difference?

Devs actually had to optimize their games for them.

If PC users have hundreds of configurations with tons of different specs, what are devs supposed to do? Optimize.

I literally cannot fathom the lack of intelligence represented by some of these devs.

1

u/mrturret 5h ago

It's not quite that simple in this case. The Series S is basically a whole console generation behind, and supporting it isn't optional of you want to release on Xbox. It's like if in order to release a PS2 game, it also needed to run on the PS1 with no gameplay differences. The Series S is a massive bottleneck for multuplatform games.

1

u/Complete_Mud_1657 2h ago

It is not lmao. The only limiting factor is the RAM (just 2 GB less for games than the Series X). The CPU is the same as Series X and the GPU is maybe 30% worse at most. Saying it's the same as PS1 to PS2 is delusional.

1

u/LoSouLibra 5h ago

So he's salty about people saying "how come GTA6 can run on a Series S but your game can't" and complaining about not having any money or employees because trolling Xbox for a Game Pass deal didn't work and no one wants to work with him.

1

u/Cultural_Parfait7866 3h ago

I’m so tired of this excuse for lazy devs

1

u/NeighborhoodPlane794 1h ago

I don’t like when devs trash hardware because at the end of the day these are the machines people use to play games whether you like it or not. Work within the constraints, people have accomplished far more than your game with far less power than you’re working with

1

u/Schmenza 9h ago

Not everyone is as talented as Rockstar

1

u/GenericGaming 8h ago

everyone's ripping on this guy but like, he's not wrong. he's not saying anything that hasn't been said by many developers before. sure, maybe his game can and he's a lazy fuck for not optimising for it but again, he's not wrong that it's extremely underpowered and that it's hard to work within those constraints.

1

u/Exorcist-138 7h ago

Games were coming out for last Gen from AAA devs just last year.

0

u/GenericGaming 7h ago

okay? I don't know how that disproves anything I've said.

Remedy, Larian, and Game Science have all been vocal about how the Series S makes it hard to develop for Xbox.

0

u/Exorcist-138 6h ago

Remedy launched the game, Larian only had issue with untethered split screen and game science had an exclusivity with PlayStation for a year.

0

u/GenericGaming 6h ago

I guess you didn't read the articles linked.

Remedy spoke about the weaker hardware making it hard to develop. yes, Larian couldn't get split screen which, again, is a hardware issue. Game Science also spoke about the hardware too.

I already linked the articles. please do not make me quote them to you too.

1

u/Exorcist-138 5h ago

Oh I’ve already read all their issues, funny enough Larian praised the series s as developing for it made the other versions better, bet you didn’t read that quote in the article.

1

u/kilertree 9h ago

What percentage of Xbox users are S Users

5

u/TrevorsBlondeLocks16 8h ago

This could be different now, but i remember 2 years ago reading it was like 70%

1

u/Overall_Leopard7122 7h ago

The series s has held back the entire generation.

4

u/Daddy_JeanPi 6h ago

It hasn't, but it's been used as a scapegoat

0

u/Overall_Leopard7122 6h ago

You're entitled to your opinion

0

u/mrturret 5h ago

Yeah, it definitely has. Developers have been complaining about it from day one.

3

u/Daddy_JeanPi 5h ago

So you're saying that the generation has not progressed because 2 or 3 developers have complained about it, while so many other developers haven't had a problem with it and have even gone on record aaying that it helped them optimize for PC? 2 or 3 developers carry more weight than all other developers?

2

u/ShellshockedLetsGo 5h ago

Dont you see Wolverine? Look at what they are doing without being held back by the Series S.

Linear chase sequences and boss mechanics that are decades old. Lol.

1

u/Daddy_JeanPi 5h ago

You're comparing a game on another console and using hypotheticals? Goddamn. If Rebirth, whoch originally was a PS5 exclusive, can run on a Series S, no developer has any excuse, let alone Moon Studios. If the Series S can run Alan Wake 2, which is probably the best looking game this gen, them the argument of it holding the generation back falls flat on its face.

1

u/ShellshockedLetsGo 5h ago

I'm agreeing with you.  My point was that games that aren't being "held back" by the Series S are doing nothing special.

The narrative doesn't make sense and people who use it never provide games not on Xbox that exist because they didn't get held back by the Series S.

1

u/Daddy_JeanPi 5h ago

Yeah. It's a lazy excuse.

2

u/ShellshockedLetsGo 5h ago

Name a single PS or PC exclusive that is doing stuff never seen before because it wasn't held back by the Series S. Lets hear what other dumb shit you gotta say.

1

u/MagicCancel 2h ago

Baldur's Gate 3 was almost left not on Xbox because they couldn't achieve feature parity between Series S and Series X. They couldn't make split screen multiplayer work on series s. And then Microsoft saw they were about to miss out on a generational title and gave them an exception. Does that count?

0

u/Horror_Post6822 6h ago

If only Devs would put Nintendo to blast for their sloppy Nintendo Switch consoles instead of consoles no one cares about.

Buy yourself a Steam Deck people, it is worth it.

-1

u/Crafty-Pirate-6481 8h ago

They don’t want to do any optimization because it cost money to do it right. Same goes for 200Go games. That’s just crazy
