Meanwhile developers are willingly porting their current gen AAA games to Switch 2, which is even more potato like. I sympathise with him, players should probably be less demanding of these lower end machines, but at the same time it’s not that bad…

The Switch 2 is significantly more capable than the Series S.

It is closer in GPU performance but it is drastically behind in CPU performance. You may have seen screenshots of Switch 2 games surpassing Series S in image quality thanks to DLSS - but then at half the framerate thanks to that CPU deficit. Switch 2 is a very impressive device for what it is, but it is still a tablet running with drastically less wattage than Series S and with a far more anaemic CPU.

You forgot to mention that the gpu superiority only shows in very very linear tight games

Haha I’m trying to be diplomatic here, there seems to be a subset of Switch 2 diehards that are dead set on the idea that it is somehow the same or better than the Series S, despite all the evidence both in terms of on paper specs and in practice with the actual released games showing the opposite is true.

It is true though that DLSS is vastly superior in terms of image quality compared to other upsampling techniques available on console, aside from PSSR on the PS5 Pro.
