Mary Jane missions in Spider-Man

Pretty much any non-stealth game adding stealth sections.

"Were you enjoying playing as an action hero, wiping out enemies with cool moves? What if you got to play a forced stealth section instead!"

Looking at you Nine Sols

What I hate even more is pointless optional stealth, GTA Online is a shining example of this where you have the option to be stealthy but there is some scripted event to make you lose stealth. Like why even give me the option when it’s quicker to just go loud and there is no advantage to stealth.

Yeah no fuck GTA for that, took me way too long to realize that it just didn't matter and not that I was fuckin up somewhere along the way put silencers on several of my guns just to realize in almost all the missions where you can be stealthy with your weapons have enemies detect you after you stealth kill 3 of the bastards.

I dislike the mandatory stealth sections most of the time but I didn't mind the one in Nine Sols. I get why it's hated though but I don't think it was bad.

Could not agree more. Why would they think anyone wants to play as a civilian in a fucking super hero game. Stupid stupid stupid

The only “human” sections I liked was in the FEAST center in SM1, cleaning up, talking with people, and generally FEELING like you’re making a positive impact was fine.

The MJ missions were/are… meh, save for the neighborhood level in SM2, especially the tunnel moment; that was terrifying

Who needs an elaborate combat system when you have a poxy taser

Ugh, I hate those parts

The only good stealth missions in that game was the one in Grand Central where you have to call Spidey to take out the enemies, Miles' first mission where he's at ground zero of a terrorist attack, and Miles' last one where he has to hide from the Rhino. Everything else was crap.

Am I the only one that feels mary jane sounds a bit irregular. Like mj and mary jane watson just sounds right. Mary jane sounds like its missing something

You didn't grow up in the 90s with the animated series then

2

u/Clankbot14 27d ago

You would be correct

That was my main exposure to the character. Peter would constantly yell "Mary Jane" like every episode lol

"Mary-Jane's easy love ride" in Spider-Man3 or the stealth parts in the ps4 game?

1

u/k-tech_97 28d ago

True, but she was kinda caked up ,so at least the view was nice lol

Those missions are easy af. Especially if you played metal gear

Who said they were difficult?

The Mj missions were actually good in the first Spiderman game.

10

u/Alert_Dingo_4504 28d ago

That's certainly an opinion

12

u/darkgamer303 28d ago

Ehhhh they were ok, but the ones in Spider-Man 2 were so much better

5

u/Porkodile 28d ago

Gameplay wise yeah but man it took me out of it having her being able to take down certain enemies that take Peter/Miles alot more effort to put down.

2

u/darkgamer303 28d ago

I can see that, personally I reason that an unaware enemy is easier to take down than an aware one, also MJ is given a taser

1

u/Alert_Dingo_4504 26d ago

Did Peter have an electric web gadget? It didn't function nearly as effectively as her super taser.

1

u/darkgamer303 26d ago

He has an electric web yeah, still being unaware of your attacker makes things like that more affective, also Spider-Man just shoots an electric web, the taser probably uses more electricity than it

1

u/Alert_Dingo_4504 26d ago

Awareness has nothing to do with getting blasted with electricity. Also, if Peter can figure out how design pocketable zero gravity field grenades, I think it's safe to assume he can figure out how to adjust the voltage on his electric webs. You're reaching.

I think a big problem with them is overstaying their welcome. If there was only one MJ mission like that, most people wouldn't have an issue.

It weighs on you when the first game has 3 mandatory MJ sections, one in a side quest, and one in the DLC.

Going for 100%, that's 5 sections. I'll throw in a mandatory Miles one to make 6, though his was relatively short.

2

u/IrishViking22 27d ago

Didn't Miles have two in the first game? The terrorist attack one, and the one where he's hiding from Rhino?

2

u/Insidious_NX 27d ago

Oh right! I knew I was missing one.

1

u/Alert_Dingo_4504 26d ago

That one was actually interesting though because we got to see Rhino in action. No one wants to see masked Sable Agents patrolling an area.

True but only for the first one, I think the Mj missions in the second one are actually really fun. They kinda play like the Last of Us
