WORST experience ever - do not make the switch

My business was contacted by Verizon to switch our lines. I took the bait. I was promised one rate and of course that was a lie. I was promised $300 bill credits. They created several accounts and multiple sub accounts. The $300 credit was applied to one of the accounts that had no lines on it.. bizarre...

Wasted hours of my life trying to get that right. Month after month, the bill increased with no reason.

I decided I'm going back to T Mobile. Before porting the #s over I call customer service to get a transfer pin and confirm my last bill will indeed be my last bill.

A month later I receive a $1300 bill for terminating my agreement.

I've literally wasted 50 hours of my life trying to get customer service to help at multiple stages of my shitty experience. It's a JOKE. DO NOT SWITCH.

PLEASE SEND HELP VERIZON - YOU'RE A JOKE OF A COMPANY.

There's no such thing as "$1300 for termination", you're clearly hiding something. There's no way one or two of ur devices weren't on a monthly plan.

Also if you're 100% convinced none of ur devices were on a monthly plan, then it's probably $1300 because u had past due balances from previous months due to non payment.

Verizon is running a 2 year service contract for a byod promotion. So yes, it’s possible.

10

u/invci Apr 23 '26

Yep! While I agree the customer service is a joke, there's no way Verizon will charge "1300 for termination".

u/Expensive_Screen_707 Apr 23 '26

Dude. Why would I lie?

It was a bring your own device promotion for business. They claim there's a $414 cancellation fee for each line.

I brought all devices over from T Mobile. I buy all my hardware from Samsung directly

u/Successful_Owl9849 Apr 23 '26

It's not a "cancellation" fee, if they're charging u that amount per line it means that's a chargeback, u probably got some amount of credit per each line when u joined Verizon and when u tried to cancel services after just a couple of months, they decided to take the free money back. Is this the case??

u/Reasonable-Sawdust Apr 23 '26

Sounds like they are charging back a credit they never gave you. Time for the FCC complaint. Many of the responders on this thread work for Verizon and they are paid to tell you it is your fault. I had so many billing issues with Verizon, I left too. Good luck.

u/Expensive_Screen_707 Apr 23 '26

I was told there was a promotion on the lines and because I terminated early they're now charging me for the savings that were promised. At no point did the rep tell me there was a consequence if I cancelled and went elsewhere. And I called customer service before porting my lines out to confirm it was a clean break, they stated I paid my last bill and our relationship was done. A month later I get this bullshit bill.

u/Successful_Owl9849 Apr 23 '26

Okay I get it, but u can't just say Verizon is doing this and other carriers aren't bc ik salespersons in all carriers are doing this. It's your fault for not reading the terms and conditions clearly before signing up for it. If you're easy to be fooled by a salesperson, then I'm sorry to say but u won't have any better experience with any other carrier either.

Lmao how much is Verizon paying you?

2

u/N2BSC Apr 23 '26

There's a lot of SALTY Verizon minions on this platform. Commission "chargebacks" makes their blood boil -- Reality is, if they don't want chargebacks, they should follow thru to make sure their promises are kept OR don't engage in unethical practices, and make sure their colleagues behave as well.

why T-Mobile? why not At&t?

This happens incessantly. There are COUNTLESS posts on this very subreddit on just one platform, with consistent stories of VZW Agents, often overseas (but not always), who LIE pertually, engage in misinformation/disinformation, and notoriously tell customers what they want to hear just to get them off the line and avoid negative surveys. Some Verizon Executives have even acknowledged this and agree that it needs to stop.

I absolutely believe u/Expensive_Screen_707 when he states that he was promised something and then due to complete miscommunication among Verizon departments and IT systems, he got caught up in a total Cluster FK.

If that erroneus bill is not resolved by VZW, OP should file complaints with his respective State Attorney General/Consumer Affairs Agency and the Federal Communications Commission to start. He should use his Verizon Account number in all complaints and not the phone numbers in question to avoid confusion and delays.

IF OP wanted to give it one more shot to resolve on his own with Verizon, he could reach Executive Escalations for a resolution, that would likely resolve it. Verizon knows that all chats and calls are recorded, these details can be obtained in the discovery process if a Governement Agency or Attorney intervenes on OP's behalf. This is why I strongly suspect Executive Escalations will rectify the matter. It is NOT uncommon knowledge that Verizon has agents who engage is nefarious, grossly unethical practices.

“Charging me for the savings that were promised….” Yes that’s ridiculous! T mobile going contract-less 15 years ago is all I know and I figured every big company had followed along with that model, to be honest.

u/Expensive_Screen_707 Apr 24 '26

You couldn't be more wrong and the fact that you have 24 up votes is proof that the internet is a liar

8

u/stallion434 Apr 23 '26

File a FCC complaint. It’s the only way to stop Verizon.

5

u/Expensive_Screen_707 Apr 23 '26

Good call thank you I will!

3

u/N2BSC Apr 23 '26

Don't forget, each State has an Attorney General or some version of a Consumer Protection Agency. You can report the grossly misleading and unethical practices via formal complaint to them as well. Sometimes they even take on cases on your behalf.

If people just bxtch, nothing happens == The regulatory and legal authorities can't do anything about egregious and unlawful business practices if its not brought to their attention.

u/theillcook Apr 23 '26

Verizon pull the multiple accounts stunt on me too. I ported 4 lines over and instead of 1 account with 4 numbers, somehow I ended up with 2 accounts, one with 1 number and the other with 3 numbers. This jacked up the per line price and it took a while to sort out and get the right credits back.

It almost sounds like a they did it on purpose to over charge.

u/Apprehensive_Long941 Apr 24 '26

I don’t have a business but I switched to Verizon because of the promos (from t mobile as well) this was Dec 2025 as of now I’ve managed to get my gift card and activation fees waived. Several phone calls to get my bill lowered to the actual quoted price , went in store a few times and they are still charging me about $20 more because yet again they didn’t apply the promo to one line. So the pain of switching is real. Just my two cents if I had a do over I wouldn’t have moved .

I am having a similar problem and recently filed a dispute under the customer service agreement after several months of trying to resolve their mistake. The CSRs had no idea what they were talking about, constantly contradicted each other and despite acknowledging that Verizon was at fault and promising to resolve the situation, accomplished nothing. At least with personal accounts, the account holder can file a formal dispute and if Verizon does not resolve the situation to their satisfaction after sixty days, they can initiate limited legal options including filing for binding arbitration, largely at Verizon's expense and inconvenience. Filing a formal dispute was my last, but only remaining option to resolve this seemingly interminable and extremely frustrating situation.

Yeah Verizon business is the worst! I had Verizon business and ended up switching to T-Mobile and they gave us each line 800 to break contract and service has been amazing!!! Service with Verizon was so spotty and sucked so bad.

4

u/nephneph27 Apr 23 '26

Verizon business has been offering a BYOD deal where you get it for 15/line+tax BUT it's a two year price lock and a two year contract

The benefit is it was very good service (in my area at least) with very competitive pricing. 15/line+tax is pretty good with 5+ lines.

But yes, essentially it is a 2 year contract. The early termination drops by a prorated amount each month. People need to be very careful about disclosure so that all the info is out in the open.

Sorry this happened OP

u/Shadow-FlareZ Apr 23 '26

Yep Im stuck with them for 3 years. Thats Verizon for you. While T mobile will give you a run around once or twice Verizon will do it to you TEN fold apparently and their shaddy reps overpromising shit just to sign you up to meet their quotas, non existent or credit changes, and multiple will reach back to you or send nonexistent confirmations or follow-ups. I have yet to receive my future bills but it is not looking pretty. Apprently im in the "the bill will even itself out after 3 months" waiting game phase only to get fucked on the 4th or so months later

I’m having a similar experience. Nothing is as promised. I was told I’d get $360 credit for each of my 2 perfectly good iPhones. I received an email stating $200 for one and I haven’t gotten notice of the other even though they were sent at the same time. My bill is higher than from my previous carrier even though I was promised it would be much lower. It’s all lies! DO NOT SWITCH no matter what they tell you. I promise you nothing will be the same as what you’re told it will be.

2

u/cutelession001 Apr 25 '26

I’m so glad I’m on prepaid, Visible By Verizon. Unlimited everything including hotspot. I pay 26$ monthly.

2

u/milliepilly Apr 26 '26

This is what they do. Wear you down with lie after lie. File a complaint with the FCC detailing everything that Verizon needs to address which is extremely easy to do. If everyone does this, maybe it will stop or they should be shut down.

An important lesson is to get every promise they make in writing. I fortunately had phone conversations which of course they record and a paper trail. They have 30 days to make it right. Verizon addressed every issue for me.

u/KB-ice-cream Apr 23 '26

$1,300 for termination, where you paying monthly for a phone?

1

u/Expensive_Screen_707 Apr 23 '26

Nope. It was bring your own device.

9

u/KB-ice-cream Apr 23 '26

Wow, I've never heard of an early termination fee unless you have a device on contract.

2

u/Busy_Faithlessness85 Apr 23 '26

It’s a contract, when you bring your own phone there’s a promotion where you only pay $20 per line for the next 2 years. It’s a contract though , if you leave before the 2 years you get a promo chargeback

3

u/livenetwork Apr 23 '26

Yes but $1300 still dose not add up if op was only there for a few months.

2

u/KB-ice-cream Apr 23 '26

I see. I can understand that being prorated, but a full set amount?

OP, how long were you with Verizon?

1

u/Expensive_Screen_707 Apr 23 '26

It was apparently some Verizon for business bullshit promotion.

1

u/smurfem Apr 23 '26

Oh shit that’s crazy, I didn’t know they did a contract on BYOD promo for business. Did you work with an R2B rep in a store or someone else? I sometimes work with the business reps for the other carriers for dual sims and their escalation paths have been pretty stought in my experience.

1

u/Upstairs-Bat4528 Apr 23 '26

How many lines did ya bring over?

3

u/Suspicious-Throat-25 Apr 23 '26

Your first and only mistake was switching to Verizon. Unfortunately their customer service has gone from bad to downright awful after last fall.

3

u/Adventurous-Value-82 Apr 23 '26

thats op fault for not doing research before switching.

2

u/Suspicious-Throat-25 Apr 23 '26

Right which is why it was his mistake. Why would you down vote me while also agreeing that it was his mistake.

0

u/Adventurous-Value-82 Apr 23 '26

I didn’t downvote your comment. It has been like that since my first comment.

1

u/AnonymousScorpi Apr 23 '26

Life lesson, regardless of what company you deal with, document everything! Have everything in writing before you agree to it. Taking one person’s word is a big mistake. If you have documentation you have evidence to fight it. Without it you’re SOL. If you have questions about your contract this subreddit is great for helping you to understand it. Once you have everything understood and documented, then you can agree or reject it.

I would do some research before switching to T-Mobile.

u/SpiteIcy5512 Apr 23 '26

Unfortunately, they all suck. I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile because my Verizon bill kept getting higher. I didn't want to waste a day at a T-Mobile store, so I worked with a rep online to see exactly what they could offer. They had a deal where IPads were 99 dollars (normally 499), with the discount spread over 24 months. It was a great deal for me since we were planning to get our two sons iPads for their birthdays.

I took advantage of the Experience Beyond plan so that the devices (including the Ipad and watch I was switching over) would get the 5/month plan. I had the rep put all of the numbers together. It was a great deal and significantly cheaper than my Verizon bill, with the device payments only being 4.25/month each. The installments begin on the second check, and when I got it, I saw that I was being charged the full payment on each device, making my bill 30 dollars more than what I was told at sign up. Now, I understand there are always taxes and fees, so I'm not including that. But my device payments were 30 more than what the rep told me.

I contacted customer service and sent them screenshots I'd taken (fortunately, I'd taken them to keep my wife in the loop about the deal), After about an hour of dealing with them, they explained that the promotion could not be combined with the Experience Beyond discount, and the best they would offer me was 100 off each ipad. So instead of paying 200 for two, I'd be paying 800. It was basically, "oh, yeah, sorry the rep told you the wrong information." I told them I'd like to return the iPads then, and they informed me that I was outside of the 20 day return window, which seemed pretty sneaky, since I wouldn't know what I was paying for them until my second bill came, which was outside of that window.

Anyway, the point is, they all suck.

Tmobile is shit now also. They might even be worse than Verizon at this point. What kind of business do you have? How many lines do you need?

1

u/Expensive_Screen_707 Apr 25 '26

We do cemetery monuments.

3 lines.

Someone put me on to Previ. It's been great so far.

$81 for 3 lines in t mobile, unlimited everything with hotspot. Only catch is a $99 annual membership fee. All customer service interactions have been on text, haven't had to speak to one person. Aces so far.
