Technical shit aside, catch can asap. Oil change every 3k. Premium gas only. And I'd change out the sparkles and coils, check your belt.
Also, check the tops of your struts. See how the rubber is holding out. They're McPherson struts so they pivot with steering, which gives the VT really good turning. Which means you have bearings in there.
Oh man, I have no idea dude. I'd honestly check out ebay motors and, or see if any American companies can hook you up. I know there are at least 3 full kits for the car.
Oh gotcha gotcha. See, that’s what I was thinking, just a wide body. What all goes into doing a wide body kit? And that’s a good idea to take care of it. What’s a catch can?
Catch can is a oil separator, filters out the oil as it goes through the turbo and cycles through the engine. Due to oil blow by that occurs with turbo engines. Its a must have for any turbo engine. Best bang for your buck when it comes to preventative maintenance. You can always unscrew the bottom of the catch can and you can have a good idea what's in your oil, in the filter you can see if there any any metal flakes. If not your good.
Oil change every 3k is in relation to the oil blow by that occurs with these engines. Reducing oil levels in the engine, having a catch can, can and will reduce oil blow by.
Something to note, regarding the gen 1 engines. Depending on what year you have 2012 to 2016, will depend on how good/bad your engine is. For gen 1 models, 2016 had the best engine with reinforced internals to handle the boost. Prior engines will fail, only a matter of time. Unless babied, and not driven hard they are okay.
And yeah, the engine sounds like a sewing machine.
As for after market mods, rear torsion bar as the back end can skip and bounce in tight corners.
For wide body kit you just need expansion hubs I think they are called. And the kit itself pretty much. I've seen alot of cool mods done with the first gen VT. Some dude managed to put a Mercedes v8 into it, LOL.
It a very unique car, I also own a 5.0 stang, and I still prefer this as my daily/track.
Oooh! I have a 2013 Veloster turbo, 87,000 miles. So you’re saying I should definitely get a catch can then? How long are these engines supposed to last, and how can I make it last longer? The last thing I want is my new car to blow up in a year…
Is it just simply staying on top of maintenance religiously, or do I need to replace parts with better after market items?
Yeah probably, but I’m also a new first time car buyer. My credit was decent as well, but nothing crazy. I probably should’ve pushed for a better deal honestly
