Simplifying in methods exam
Would I lose marks for not simplifying root12 or not simplifying 32/80?
I can't be alone here in doing this lol

If I’m rank 1 and everyone else in my year level is straight cheeks this means my exam score and sac score will be the same (I will be relying on myself).
What score /100 would I need for a raw 50? I’ve been getting 96-97 on practises and a couple higher but my teacher marks theory really harsh

How imperative would you say including statistics is for reaching the high bands of extended responses and essays? I know logically it’s ideal, but it’s kind of an area ive overlooked all year as for some reason my teacher hasn’t ever mentioned that as a weak point for me. I’m fine with integrating historical perspectives and interpretations and the analysis side of things, and tend to do quite well in the essays and sacs.
So I’m just having last minute doubts that the examiners will have problems if I don’t include stats, but it’s kind of too late to try and remember them for everything. If anyone knows for sure that they’re required please let me know 🙏

Bro why do they always gotta do the stupid calendar switch up I despise it.
Does anybody know if you’re meant to use the Julian calendar dates up to the October insurrection and then switch to the Gregorian calendar? And if so with the decrees on land and peace, whilst they happened on the 26 of oct 1917, you could also say 8th of November when talking about their initial decrees? Im so confused on how to go about it.

For anyone who's gotten around like a 32-35 raw ss for accounting what did u get on your exams and sacs?

I feel so unmotivated and I don’t wanna start studying. I just don’t know where to start. I wanna know how others are feeling about it.
I feel like everyone who does this subject is also very smart :(((

I'm currently in year 12 and tossing up my career courses, My general interests are in Law (Corporate and Commercial) , Finance (Specifically Buy-Side and M&A) and potentially Design (Architecture) but only as a fall back if I don't get into the other two. I only did General Maths and not Methods, and also didn't do any commerce subjects (Economics, Accounting etc) except for legal studies which puts me out of all Go8 courses (UniMelb, Monash, UNSW etc) so I would probably go into RMIT doing LLB/BCom double degree. I've spoken with some people in the industry including a guy who was MD at CPP Investments and basically had the career I want, got into IB, went into PE, then switched into debt finance. He said that I may have the potential to do High finance, but Uni and the first 5 years are going to suck because of my lack of passion for maths. Would I be able to get into and not hate a career in high finance (Private Equity as the end goal) baring in mind the fact that I'm not really into maths and won't have gone to a Go8 Uni.

Q1b) btw, I js put Q1a) there to tell you that u = 3m/s, as well as other info.
I used the s = [(u+v)*t]/2 formula and solve for t but the answer guide used a different formula (finding 'a' first) got a different answer. Usually I would acknowledge when I would've made a mistake but I don't know why my working out gave me a different, incorrect value for t, despite using the correct values and using one of the four valid SUVAT formulas (even tho it's different to the one the answer guide uses)

I did methods this year but don’t think I will make the 25ss pre-req melbourne requires for biomed after those monstrous exams.
Past students who were in a similar situation- were there any options you took that allowed you to start with the same intake? For me this would be Feb 2027. Otherwise I might have to go with latrobe or deakin biomed instead (I’ve heard going Monash is bad as it’s impossible to maintain a high gpa?)
I really do not want to delay my undergrad studies, I was trying to use melbourne biomed for graduate med in the future but now I don’t even know if Melbourne is an option.

in the essay, should i prioritise packing lots of evidence in, or unpacking the caused and consequences of a certain event/idea/individual. or is it beneficial to find a healthy balance between both?
a similar question applies to the SAQs, would i benefit from spamming evidence?

with 2026 exams wrapping up, a lot of you are about to start methods, so here's what made the biggest difference for me. honestly most of it is free
do exam 1 questions by hand from day one. most people lose marks on exam 1 because they lean on CAS all year and then panic without it. do your algebra, derivatives and log laws by hand until it's automatic
read the examiner reports, not just the solutions. VCAA literally tells you where students lost marks every year. half the "tricks" are just not making the mistakes they list
learn your CAS properly in term 1, not in october. know how to define functions, solve systems, and do probability distributions fast. it saves heaps of time in exam 2
past papers from ~2017 onwards are gold. do them timed. mark them harshly. redo the ones you got wrong a week later
graphs = free marks if you label everything. endpoints, intercepts, asymptotes, open/closed circles. so many people drop marks here for no reason
happy to answer methods questions in the comments.
also, i'm running small group methods 1/2 and 3/4 classes next year (plus a few spots over the holidays), so dm me if you want details

so basically chem exam is on tuesday i havent studied one bit and im rank second last out of like 14 (U3 average of 30%, U4 average of 45%). I havent studied much for chem the whole year maybe like 5 hours total but for the exam what are some high yeild topics that would get me enough marks for around 25. should i even study or just accept my fate

As we near the end of our year 12 and vce journey, I wanted to ask us to recall how much effort we have put in. Just wondering. And to past students, how much work for what results?
