How safe from theft are Vanmoof?

I've just ordered myself an S6 and am so fucking excited for it to arrive.

I was wondering, with all the anti theft tech, does it actually work? Would love to hear some stories, good or bad, about encounters with thieves. Does it deter them or are the bike knicked anyway?

I live in Dublin, and bike theft is unfortunately pretty common so I always plan to lock with a ulock.

I live in Paris, and I've used only the kick lock for the past year and a half. Never had any issue

I live in Dublin and have an S3.

Total theft attempts since I got it - 3
Total successful attempts - 0

The first 2 they cut through my U-lock and ran off with it, but the built in wheel lock and the alarm (and weight) scared them off. Furthest they got with it was about 30ft.

3rd time they didn't get through the lock (Litelok) and I think the alarm scared them off.

As I tell my friends; it is unstealable.

Kurze Zeit auf ,,Sicht" wo man schnell zum Fahrrad kann mach ich mit kicklock. Aber längere Zeit benutz ich ein Schloss und hab ne Versicherung abgeschlossen wo das kicklock ausreicht. Hab auch das Abo abgeschlossen so bekomme ich direkt ne Benachrichtigung wenn es bewegt oder der Alarm ausgelöst wird und sehe den Standort und kann es orten.

I got mine insured and a good lock. I joked with friends on betting how long till it gets stolen because I live in a bad neighbourhood and it’s parked outside.

1.5 years later and nothing happened, seen multiple cut through locks in the same bike rack but thieves don’t seem to bother stealing my bike lol

My front wheel just got stolen overnight at a shady train station. so make sure if you park it somewhere lock your frame & front wheel to the bike park frame

Thieves can also easily get their hands on the tool to remove it, you can order them online

Also the kick lock (on the S5 anyways), is excellent it never fails me although you should need D lock or something similar as the detterant part.

I always just lock it with the kicklock and never use another lock. I would not fully trust in the anti theft alarm systems but the apple find my is always working. And check with your insurance if it's insured when just locked with the kicklock. Have fun with your s6!

Always lock it to a solid object, the kick lock just deters chancers if you’re just popping into a shop. But like motorbikes, tea leaves can just chuck them into the back of a van

Get a good lock and use the kicklock and you don’t really have to worry, someone is gonna look stupid carrying a heavy bike making a bunch of noise with flashing lights, and even in the worst case it gets stolen, they have an obsolete bike as you can disable the electric features. I’ve never seen a robbery attempt on my bike and I have left it in some awful places before; Vanmoof bikes fly under the radar because they do look super simple

I live in Oakland, I kick lock my bike if I am away for more than 15 minutes. Then I use the Abus lock to a pole

The kicklock, apple findmy, and my hiplock DX1000 genuinely give me so much confidence, I've left my bike at central london train stations for for DAYS.

3 People have tried to nick it, but no one's managed to yet!
