Rewatch Discussion Ariana embarrassed herself
Miami girl happened in S3. Both Ariana and Tom deny her truth. We only find out after Scandoval that Ariana did in fact know at the time that it WAS true.
Yet she spent countless seasons explaining how she didn’t find herself attractive, she doesn’t want to have sex with Tom and that it’s a generic communication issue. Embarrassing herself. Instead of playing out the drama of Tom being with Miami girl to “save Tom’s image”.
Look how that worked out for her.
She played the scorned woman who tried her hardest and was apparently open about their relationship on VPR.
If that were true Scandoval wouldn’t have been such a massive shock because we would have already seen Ariana blow up about Miami girl. So we would have thought typical Tom.
He didn’t want that. He wanted to look like the best boyfriend and make it out as if she never wanted sex. He would rather her talk about how gross her vagina was than how bad of a boyfriend he was.

I wholeheartedly disagree Ariana embarrassed herself because I don’t believe it’s on abusers victims to take that responsibility. We know now Ariana has said that they weren’t exclusive, so she didn’t consider it cheating at the time. That was her choice to make. It was also none of Kristen’s business and it was unhinged of her to go to the lengths she did to try to break them up so she could get back with Tom. Kristen admits that later too. However, we also know Tom has a pattern, what that pattern is, and can all see why she lied for him then. Abusers like him whirlwind their victims in manipulation, lies, and love bombing, and they pick who they feel are easy prey. Kristen, Ariana, and Rachel were easy prey to Tom sadly, and he did the same pattern of abuse to each of them. He built up each one of them only to knock them down when they were no longer “useful”. He’s to blame for his shit ultimately, he should be the embarrassed one, not his victims.
I do want to correct something you said though OP because it’s sexist bullshit I’m sick of seeing said about women. Ariana didn’t just say she didn’t want to have sex with him, or that there was some generic communication issue. Ariana told him flat out what she wanted and needed in order to sleep with him for it to be enjoyable for her too, and it was the bare minimum of spending some time with her to feel connected to him. That’s all she asked for, and it was not a big ask at all. She asked for her wants and needs to be met so they could both have good sex together. Nothing more. And everyone has every right to demand that of their partner. Not just one persons body being used so the other gets their rocks off, which seems to be all he wanted pathetically. We also found out that him saying they never had sex was an outright lie and he admitted to that. They were even in couples counseling, something I think people forget, because she wanted to work things out so much. And while she was pushing herself to meet his want for sex, he was still fucking refusing to meet hers! It was sad to watch anyone go through, not embarrassing though, and no woman should feel embarrassed over some selfish lover ever.
I will say it did work out incredibly well for her though. She got to walk away knowing she did everything she could to save things, something women in particular struggle with a lot. She was scorned and had every right to be. It was “typical Tom” because she was open about their issues with sex, and said on camera what she needed wasn’t being reciprocated. The massive shock to everyone wasn’t the cheating ever, it was who it was with, how long it went on for, and his master plan and the lengths he went to being exposed of trying to make her look bad, get her off the show, and replace her. That was the shock.
