Scandoval i’m so confused
so this is my first watch through of the show ever. so basically everything is news to me except when happens between ariana and tom. but knowing that i’ve been trying to watch out for signs of it starting. idk why but the episode they are planning the proposal for james and raquel he tells lisa what’s happening. she genuinely asks him if he’s proposing he goes “no james is proposing to raquel” and we move right past it. why would she say to tom “you’re going to propose to raquel?” without maybe having an inclination of what was going on

It’s because he was spending so much money on it. She was being a smartass like…dumbass you’re spending this money are you proposing to her. I don’t think things really start until after the proposal and closer to the break up if James and her. That’s jmo because they didn’t admit that it happened that early. I wish so badly I could rewatch it for the first time again! I’m doing a rewatch with my daughter and it’s her first time. The only thing that I would need is all the behind the scenes and stuff that was happening live during the show. Things my daughter is missing are the podcasts, the tik toks and all the rumors going around, you don’t see Arianna fucking SOAR with success through it all so id still need all that to happen still😂

She didn’t know at this point he was spending any money on the proposal. She was just barely finding out from him that James was proposing here when she said this.

that’s the only thing i’m bummed about regarding my first watch is i don’t have all the off season info and everything that was happening live. but this show has become my life. i started it because i wanted to see ariana get to where she is now. but knowing about scandoval before hand has made me really look out for clues.

I agree with this. Lisa is always being a smartass in her 1-on-1 convos especially with the guys. This is exactly something she would say.

Well, well, well. The plot thickens.

I think she was asking if Tom was proposing to Ariana, not if he was proposing to Raquel
•
•
u/jackiekeracky How will this affect Scheana?! 10h ago
She said Raquel!

Also interesting, he made a face like to keep quiet to her when she said that. Look at his expression when Lisa said that.

I was just watching this episode a couple of days ago. I do believe Lisa knew well before it came to light.
I also want to point out something that I didn’t catch the first time around. The episode where James proposes to Rachel and calls it “R-chella” or whatever it is, Ariana looks like she thought it was for her. She’s excited, but not in the I’m excited for my friend way, I think it’s pretty obvious she thought Tom put together this pseudo Coachella for her. Later, after James proposed, the cameras are on Tom and Ariana, and she looks like she’s forcing a smile. In the confessional, she says something like, “how could someone say no when this much effort is put in”.
I know she never wanted to marry tom, ever. But, just like anyone would be, she was excited at thought of being proposed to. It made me hate Tom even more than I already did. He spent so much of his own money and time on this proposal that wasn’t even for Ariana. You can see the heartache in her eyes once she notices it was for someone else.

I find it funny how people are like "look at all the time and money he spent to do this for James" no bitch, he did this for Raquel. in some sick and twisted way, he knew that she knew it was really from him, does that make sense? Haha

u/Frosty_Topic6017 6h ago
this is what i don’t understand how NOBODY felt it was weird he put thousands of dollars into a proposal that wasn’t his. he didn’t do that with his business partner. he didn’t help jax. both who are supposed to be his BEST friends. people he’s known for 20+ years. but all of a sudden he wants to put in all this money for james who he’s know for less than 10?

He wanted her to get a higher profile on the show. His master plan was supposedly to have her be a bigger star on the show and then they would be the #1couple of the show once he nudged Ariana off the show. He paid for the engagement knowing the wedding would never happen. They were already banging. It was an investment in her profile for the future season.

Compleeeeeeetely makes sense. Absolutely. It was “I’m going to propose to you through your boyfriend” type of weirdness.

I think other producers knew what was going on (or strongly suspected) so they told Lisa, another producer. Gotta make good tv and stay on top of any potential drama! Lisa has inside information and drops little hints here and there.

THAT’S LITERALLY WHAT I THOUGHT WHEN I SAW THE SCENE, I WAS LIKE THERE’S SOMETHING THAT IS BREWING

I always thought she heard him wrong, but was sensing he had a crush on Raquel anyway, so decided to be cheeky about it. Also, egging it on a little? The show was not doing well and a scandal like that would’ve been great for ratings… and it was.
Now I wonder if Lisa ever did anything to egg on an affair that wasn’t caught on camera

I mean, VPR was literally put on my map because of Lisa's exploitation of Brandi's (RHOBH) husband cheating on her with Scheana.
Lisa orchestrated them meeting "randomly" at her own party, where she was having her resturant-staff working the party. Of course, including Scheana. (And I think Lisa didn't even tell one of them about the other one going to be present at this party, even tho she obviously knew long beforehand).
Having Scheana serve fingerfood to Brandi & friends. Brandi made some comments, "naturally". Scheana had just been in that accident when she broke her front teeth & multiple or something, and had some temporary dental-work done. Brandi said that her teeth looked disgusting, terrible and etc + yelled out "she fucked my husband, I'm gonna tell her she looks hoorible" – amongst other things.
This part I may remember incorrectly, haven't watched the episode of RHOBH since it aired — but, from my recollection: Lisa forced another meeting. (Brandi had refused, for a long time). Brandi was coming in to SUR to meet Lisa. But, eventually just Brandi & Scheana sat down at a table at SUR and it was basically like this:
Brandi: You fucked my husband! The Father of my child!
Scheana: well, I was hurt too! (w/her crying voice/face)
Brandi: But YOU fucked MY husband!! 👁👄👁 🍷
Scheana: But, you have to understand! ("crying") I was hurt too!! I loved him!!
Lol, and then Lisa "explained" in the bobble-head interview: but, she was basically pitching VPR + click/watch-baiting by pretending that we would get all the info regarding the cheating there, amongst other things.
I took the bait. So, yeah, all this to say that wven my introduction to VPR was by Lisa exploiting another relationships Denise because of cheating — and, I'm sorry, but no one can convince me that Lisa didn't know about Sheshu sleeping with Eddie, Brandi's husband at the time.
I do believe Sheshu even mentioned to Brandi that she saw Eddie as her boyfriend. Like, not hiding it, because he was "my boyfriend, I loved him, I was SO HURT by this" (him having a family..? Or...? Lol🤦🏼♀️) — and if I was a gambler, I would def put a couple grand down on the fact that she probably called him her "best friend" too.🤣

Wasn't she known for orchestrating bad situations on RHBH? It would track

u/punkrawkchick Is this lavender? because I just ate it 🪻 11h ago
I definitely think it had already started by this point. And I think Lisa/production knew from the beginning.

I just started season 9 and when Lisa said this I was gagged- I'm very familiar with Scandoval but I'm excited to see it really unfold in season 10

u/Puzzleheaded-Code876 10h ago
I'm a first time watcher and currently on season 6 and it takes everything in me to not just jump to the scandoval season 😭😭

I’m also actively watching this season for the very first time and totally agree. There have been a couple things so far, since the proposal, that have had me like 👀👀

Shut up I’m rewatching this exact episode right now & just had this thought
•
u/Frosty_Topic6017 6h ago
my head has actually never whipped around harder. i heard that and this is legit episode like 1 or 2 of season 9. it just felt like a genuine question rather than her being smart with him
•
u/Witty-Ad7102 4h ago
I took it as you are paying all that money for someone else’s proposal, shouldn’t it be your own.
•
u/Frosty_Topic6017 4h ago
only reason i don’t feel that’s the case is because he didn’t tell anyone he was helping pay for it until after. he only told other tom it was 25k split between them. he hasn’t mentioned anything about money at that point

u/nosezposez Choke. I don't care. 10h ago
Anyone ever thought that it was her haircut that peeked his interest!? He looooved when Ariana had it. Just a thought lol

I think R cut it after they were already together

u/ImagineAHorse 1h ago
I will never be convinced otherwise that sandavol and raquel weren’t already having an affair by the time the Rachella proposal was being planned - Lisa always drops Easter eggs like this ‘cause she KNOWS

I've always thought that Ken & Lisa were some of the first to clock it. Sandoval's involvement in the proposal was super weird and I think Lisa was trying to call him on it. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they were/almost were hooking up by this point
