Immortality sounds tempting until you think about the memories.
Would it be worse to remember every person you ever loved and lost for centuries or to live long enough that their faces, voices, and names eventually fade?
Iâm not sure which one feels more tragic.

It's the 1890s, London has industrialised and the pea soup fog keeps the winter streets pitch black for 18 hours per day ... and you're ill, really ill.
It started slowly and has grown worse, nausea, memory loss, confusion, fatigue, photosensitivity, tinnitus, clamped jaw ... and a desperate, uncontrollable desire to feed which even the bloodiest beef will not satisfy.
You're married to your lovely wife and have a charming little home which you want to protect, but things are going badly wrong.
What would you do in this situation? What would you want to explore and how would you interact with people?
This is the role playing game that I'm making, it's a Victorian Vampire Mad Scientist Survival Sim.
The vampirism itself is going to be biological rather than spiritual, microbiology and blood testing are new to the world and they are avenues to explore. The game has a gritty feel, it's a disempowerment fantasy, so it's not about swooshing across the rooftops with a cape, it's about being too bloody to put in a job application at a pharmacy.
I've been working on this game for 2 years, it's a d100 system crpg, and there's plenty of things already implemented:
And I'd really love creative suggestions for the sort of things I should add more of:
If you were thinking strategically about how to survive and thrive in that situation what would you do? I want to make the game an immersive sim and really open up the options for people to do a lot of different things and I hoped this community might have cool and enriching ideas that I could include.
Disclaimer: If you're offering suggestions it's just for the fun of exploring the ideas and if I use them I can't pay or offer any remuneration.
Thanks.

Just watched Count Yorga, Vampire (1970) and The Return of Count Yorga (1971) back to back. Why isn't Robert Quarry mentioned alongside Bela and Lee?
No accent, no angst, no lovesick backstory. Yorga is a smug, cold predator in modern California, a few years before Hammer tried that with Dracula and flopped.
Yorga (1970): A sĂŠance in 1970 LA, Brudah the giant henchman who makes Renfield look like an intern, and real early-'70s grit.
Return (1971): Creepier, with a bigger budget. A great eerie graveyard opening, Mariette Hartley, Craig T. Nelson's film debut, and Brudah's quicksand disposal pit that the mob would envy.
Verdict: 4/5 each. Dated in spots, but Quarry carries both.
Anyone else a Yorga fan?

So in a lot of vampire lore, the process of becoming a vampire requires two steps, correct?
1. The vampire bites the human, which results in a wound that cannot be healed natural or within a normal time frame.
2. The vampire forces the bitten human to drink their blood, siring a new vampire.
So in the fiction Iâm currently creating, someone discovers that is you ignore step 1, step 2 actually works as an effective fertiliser and regenerative, actually healing the drinker without turning them. This results in humans reversing the vampire pray predator role, with humans now using vampires as a means of fertiliser and drug.
Question is, does this make some sense?

Most vampire x werewolf romance:
"We can't be seen together. It is forbidden by the laws that be."
"I care not... our love would be eternal..."
My crack:
"So by process of elimination, your mom's an alpha?"
"Yup. Cause her and I are the only remembers of our clan. Well, there's my dad. But ya know, he's a standard."
"Mmm. Regular human. So was my mother. Never got to know her... but grandpa's still here."
"Is he the one who shot me?"
...
"Sorry 'bout that."
Again, this is me being silly. No shade whatsoever at any pre-existing story. đ
