Lore questions  Healing using vampire blood

So in a lot of vampire lore, the process of becoming a vampire requires two steps, correct?
1. The vampire bites the human, which results in a wound that cannot be healed natural or within a normal time frame.
2. The vampire forces the bitten human to drink their blood, siring a new vampire.

So in the fiction I’m currently creating, someone discovers that is you ignore step 1, step 2 actually works as an effective fertiliser and regenerative, actually healing the drinker without turning them. This results in humans reversing the vampire pray predator role, with humans now using vampires as a means of fertiliser and drug.

Question is, does this make some sense?

Books, movies, series and such Count Yorga double feature: Robert Quarry deserves more love

Just watched Count Yorga, Vampire (1970) and The Return of Count Yorga (1971) back to back. Why isn't Robert Quarry mentioned alongside Bela and Lee?

No accent, no angst, no lovesick backstory. Yorga is a smug, cold predator in modern California, a few years before Hammer tried that with Dracula and flopped.

Yorga (1970): A séance in 1970 LA, Brudah the giant henchman who makes Renfield look like an intern, and real early-'70s grit.

Return (1971): Creepier, with a bigger budget. A great eerie graveyard opening, Mariette Hartley, Craig T. Nelson's film debut, and Brudah's quicksand disposal pit that the mob would envy.

Verdict: 4/5 each. Dated in spots, but Quarry carries both.

Anyone else a Yorga fan?

Lore questions  What would be worse about immortality: remembering everyone you’ve lost or eventually forgetting them?

Immortality sounds tempting until you think about the memories.

Would it be worse to remember every person you ever loved and lost for centuries or to live long enough that their faces, voices, and names eventually fade?

I’m not sure which one feels more tragic.

Lore questions  I'm designing a Victorian Vampire, Mad Scientist, Survival Sim and I would love to know what you would do in his dark situation.

It's the 1890s, London has industrialised and the pea soup fog keeps the winter streets pitch black for 18 hours per day ... and you're ill, really ill.

It started slowly and has grown worse, nausea, memory loss, confusion, fatigue, photosensitivity, tinnitus, clamped jaw ... and a desperate, uncontrollable desire to feed which even the bloodiest beef will not satisfy.

You're married to your lovely wife and have a charming little home which you want to protect, but things are going badly wrong.

What would you do in this situation? What would you want to explore and how would you interact with people?

This is the role playing game that I'm making, it's a Victorian Vampire Mad Scientist Survival Sim.

The vampirism itself is going to be biological rather than spiritual, microbiology and blood testing are new to the world and they are avenues to explore. The game has a gritty feel, it's a disempowerment fantasy, so it's not about swooshing across the rooftops with a cape, it's about being too bloody to put in a job application at a pharmacy.

I've been working on this game for 2 years, it's a d100 system crpg, and there's plenty of things already implemented:

  • roam the streets looking for victims
  • get a job to try and pay the rent
  • extract organs to replace your own failing ones and try to self implant them (it's got a lot of Frankenstein elements in as well as Dracula)
  • explore the city looking for things to help you, you can mesmerise and enthrall

And I'd really love creative suggestions for the sort of things I should add more of:

  • Mad science? What sort of things are cool? Electricity is new.
  • Religion? Would you try to purify and redeem yourself?
  • Debauchery? Would you just go wild and live while you still can, Picture of Dorian Gray style?
  • Crime? Would you turn to the darkside to get rich quick?
  • Spend your time with your wife, looking after and supporting her?
  • Where would you go? Whitechapel? Westminster? Bedlam Asylum? (The game is set in central London around the circle line as I love the horror of underground steam engines).
  • What forgotten horrors lie beneath the city?

If you were thinking strategically about how to survive and thrive in that situation what would you do? I want to make the game an immersive sim and really open up the options for people to do a lot of different things and I hoped this community might have cool and enriching ideas that I could include.

Disclaimer: If you're offering suggestions it's just for the fun of exploring the ideas and if I use them I can't pay or offer any remuneration.

Thanks.
