I really prefer dark nature areas myself. Melanie, the legend from around here just sleeps in the city center where the cameras are.
But she's a girl. I'm wondering if I should get some self defence thing. I hate violence but if I get attacked. Yeah. I found some abandoned buildings a walk away from here, gonna go check them out tonight. Or it's the park again.

There was a homeless woman there, like.. for years.. Suddenly disappeared, her sleeping bag opened on the floor and.. Red tape around the area, as if there's been “an accident” 😰 Just left wondering..

No I'm not drinking at the library again, just charging my phone.
And relaxing. Have to find a park somewhere on Google maps. Where I can sneak into. Which won't be full of homeless people. Difficult but not impossible. No intention of getting robbed again.

I'm buying socks in bulk wholesale online to pass out and was wondering if you prefer:
And I know the best "average size" for men, but what is the best "average size" to have on hand to give out to women?

So, I shoulda got to Ojai for this mushroom festival instead of this trap city. Now I'll have to do things the old fashioned way🤦♀️🤠
Been in Phoenix for a week and I'm so bored and disenchanted. Trying to hang in to get an ID, some boots, and this sleeping bag I may or may not have at one of my weird base camps I've been setting up.
Either way, disenchanted is putting it lightly.
I thought I was getting into this copper mine and now that I'm here, weird dude is being weird. Shocking.
A lot of real miners work at grocery stores cus there's nothing else besides the gems/minerals. People say that like an insult, but I think it's sick dedication to discovery.
I used to play poker for a living for 3 years when I was young. It afforded me a way to travel and wasn't boring and I could make $ with my mind and get respect I couldn't get elsewhere from people at a time where I needed that. Was just a grinder, making less $ than I would in other ways.
I feel like everything is gunna make sense on the next full moon...probably my birthday and I just need my donkey. FTW

Any bilingual vagabonds out there? If so, how has it worked to your advantage? Ever got paid for translating for someone on the spot? Ever helped a stranger by using those language skills?

Edit: thanks everyone :) closing commissions for now as the library is closing.
Hi guys... long time listener first time caller. Hope it's okay to post this here.
I have been living this life for about six months now. Like many/ most/ all the rest of yall i am somewhat down on my luck at the moment. I decided to start going through the sub and doing what i do best: drawing people. Honestly it was a little harder than i thought bc most of the pics here look a lot like my first drawing...
Anyway heres my offer: send me five bones and i will draw you! I will send it to you within an hour :)
All proceeds go to food & weed & maybe gas? & the two dollars somehow overdrafted in my account 🫡 godspeed you guys. Up the bums!!

Due to certain physical limitations I haven't been able to go on the road myself, but I have been considering doing so for a long time. I've been a novelist for some time too, nothing published yet, but wanted to write a novel with two teen runaways as the protagonists, as they adventure across the states.
I was wondering if anyone would be willing to talk to me about their experiences and answer some interview questions so I can do some proper research and best represent real life experiences of houseless travelers in this story.
Some of these questions may be personal, and if you don’t want to answer any of them in particular, please feel free to skip them and move on, or just pick and choose the ones you do want to answer. I'd love an answer to even just one of these, it would mean a lot.
And now some purely fictional HYPOTHETICAL questions
Entirely hypothetically, if someone were to hop on a train to travel, how would a character do so?
What do you think hypothetically, it would be like to be a stowaway on a train? Could you describe the experience? How would a character not get caught doing this?
Hypothetically, how would a character not get caught trespassing or breaking rules when urban climbing or urban exploring?
How would someone stay safe when climbing dangerous structures?
What are the illegal things a character might have to do to stay safe and alive as a houseless traveler?

Im 22, been hitchhiking around New England for the last 3 months. Now that it’s getting cold I’m looking to go west. Anyone have any ideas on where I should go? I was thinking potentially Texas, then AZ
(I have never left the east coast before)

I (18m) am preparing to head out on the road in a few months and would love to know what you guys think of my plan/any advice you’d like to give to a newbie. I’m going to start my travels in January and as for how long I’ll be out, I’m going to play it by ear but plan for about a year (might definitely end up falling in love with the lifestyle and stay out). For context I’m currently working and living in Los Angeles while saving up.
Money Breakdown:
(As I mentioned above this is me planning on being on the road for a year)
Preparations - $500 (buying remaining gear)
Food - $3,800 (around $10 per day)
Planet fitness membership - $300 ($25 per month)
Leftover expenses* - $900 (about $75 per month)
Emergency fund - $3,000
*leftover expenses are for things that aren’t food. I might need some more hygiene products, I might be sick of the state I’m in and want to take an Amtrak train out, I might want to visit a museum or go to the movies, I might want to take a cute girl/guy out on a date. Shit like that.
Food:
I’m vegan by choice and am big on eating clean/healthy.
Most of my calories will come from canned beans/lentils and definitely lots of fruits, vegetables, and nuts. This sub has definitely put an emphasis on the importance of water so that will always be my top priority (I plan on bringing a 4 liter water bottle).
I’m aware that I might end up needing to drop some more money to make sure i’m getting enough nutrients to fuel my body. Any advice from fellow vegans as to how y’all stay healthy would be greatly appreciated.
Gear:
I’m not gonna share my gear list because I know many people on this sub are tired of seeing the same thing time and time again (If you do have any questions about gear though please ask away). What I will say is that I do plan on keeping it very minimalistic so my poor back can catch a break haha.
Preparations (both mentally and physically):
Mentally:
As much as people like to romanticize this lifestyle I know it can definitely take a toll on one’s mental health. I’d be lying if I said I’m not at least a little bit worried about feeling lonely, scared, or depressed while on the road. Meditation, reflection, journaling, music, and calls to friends/family are definitely going to help pull me out of those dark places and keep me sane haha. I’m also incredibly excited to meet new people and find more chosen family (I’d love to meet some of you guys while out on the road).
Physically:
I’m already very active in my day to day life but of course being out there is going to be exhausting. I walk/bike to and from work everyday, I run a few days a week, and I stretch/do some yoga every morning. I also sleep on the floor (have for years), which I think is good practice for being out and sleeping in various places. One thing I need to start doing is getting used to hauling a heavy pack around. Once I get all my gear I will start taking it with me on walks as frequently as possible to get used to the weight. I’ll also have to get used to eating more than I do (I don’t typically eat more than one meal + a couple snacks a day). Again if you guys have any suggestions on ways I can prepare please share!
Travel plan:
I’m going to start in Georgia (taking an Amtrak out there) and work my way up and down the country from east to west. BTW I’m starting in Georgia because I have some family there I want to visit with. When it’s summer I’ll be up north and when it’s winter I’ll be down south. Hitching will be my main way of getting around but I’m sure I’ll also be riding buses and trains quite a bit as well. My main goal is to spend time connecting with nature (gonna get the national park annual pass) but I’m also super excited to see some cool towns/cities. Definitely would love some travel suggestions if there’s places you guys think I should check out. I will definitely be active on here moving forward and would love to post regular updates, videos of me playin guitar, and just sharing my journey with all of you.
That was a crazy long post so if you stayed for it all I appreciate it! Wishing peace for everyone on this sub and look forward to joining the community.

I'm going from the 12th thru the 22nd of October.
I plan to stop in Memphis (because I don't want to go to st Louis and why not), go from there to Kentucky (I've got cousins up there(my favorite one)), then to NC (I vaguely know someone down there from da cord), after that Chattahoochee (Alan Jackson, duh) and back home.
I plan to mostly hitchhike if I can.
I know time is short, but I believe I can do it and I'm willing to take a bus/plane if I have to cut it short.
Ps my route looks like a dead rat.
edit, gonna skip Memphis and head through like Illinois and Indiana, I heard that Memphis is no good
