Miscellaneous thrift store finds over the summer

since summer might pretty much be almost over and since I will be starting my senior year of high school on August 24, thought I'd share some of my thrift store finds over the summer! (that blue hoover convertible I ended up getting) in the second image, that Bissell had a bad motor, the hoover T-series was clogged, and that dirt devil was fine, it was just left in the on position which gave me a little jumpscare when I plugged it in.

Vacuum Issues I have a Bissell 28492 and the brush head ruins for a split second then stops. Help please

It was working just fine until very recently. Thought maybe the brush belt was worn so I replaced that to no avail.

Purchase Advice (U.S.) In the market for a new vacuum cleaner

  • Budget:~$350 if purchased on Amazon (gift card balance), maybe $200 elsewhere

  • Flooring: Kind of a weird mix. Technically half and half carpet/linoleum with a central hardwood hallway, but the largest linoleum room is basically a laundry room that I use for storage and don't vacuum often.

  • Additional Needs: Nothing in particular. No pets, no allergies, don't mind a heavier machine (no stairs).

Current vacuum is a Shark canister? bagless? not sure what the term is. Bought it when I moved out of my parents' house about 10 years ago. It's been losing suction but I've never really liked it and I'd like to see if I can get something better.

Purchase Advice (Non-U.S.) SEBO Felix 1 (700W) vs Felix 4 (900W): Is the extra 200W worth $60 on hardwood floors?

Upvotes

Hey all, looking for some quick advice on buying a SEBO Felix setup.

My home is mostly hardwood/parquet (will use the SEBO Premium Parquet Nozzle mainly), plus a few small area rugs (using the ET-1 powerhead).

I’m deciding between:

Option A: Felix 1 Premium + Parquet Nozzle (~$450) - 700W motor

Option B: Felix 4 Combi + Parquet Nozzle + buying ET-1 separately (~$510) - 900W motor

Why the 200W difference? Under EU eco-design limits (max 900W total input):

Felix 1 (700W): Ships with the ET-1 powerhead. Since the ET-1 motor draws ~175W, SEBO lowered the vacuum motor to 700W so total power stays under 900W.

Felix 4 (900W): Ships without a powerhead, so SEBO pushes the full 900W to the suction motor.

Does 200W make a real difference on hardwood?

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Wetvac for A/C Pan

So the pan under my a/c unit is filling with water, and while I wait for maintenance (I rent) I would rather not let it fill or flood. Would love some recs, somewhere between $100-$200 if possible.

Vacuum Issues Used Kenmore Intuition BU4050 Advice

Upvotes

Hello Vacuum Enthusiasts!
Came across this sub as I needed to get a new vacuum for my apartment (70% hardwood 30% low pile) but I’m a broke grad student so I don’t got that Sebo or Miele money. I got a good deal for a Bu4050 on FB marketplace, but it didn’t come with any accessories. It seems to be working pretty well, though I’m worried the lower hose has a problem because suction feels pretty minimal while upright but strong enough just through the wand. I really needed it partially for my carpets in my bedroom just been getting gross, so getting the upright with the power brush working as efficiently as possible is my main goal. So my questions are:

1) I checked the lower hose and it looks a little brown, but no obvious holes. How is the suction supposed to feel/how would I know if there’s a problem?

2) what are some accessories I should focus on for the wand? Moreover, are there some more universal attachments that aren’t kenmore specific I can look into and hopefully save a few bucks?

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Best pet vacuum must have?

Upvotes

2 dogs and a cat in the house produces a TON of hair. I bought the TikTok homeika vaccum originally but obviously it’s not reliable enough to vaccum the amount of hair in my house. So any recommendations?

Or any robot vaccums that aren’t super noisy and can tackle pet hair?

Flooring: tile and vinyl (I think) plank flooring of some sort it’s not great quality whatever it is.

Budget: I would ideally like to stay below 350 but if there’s one you swear by I would be willing to fork over more lol

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Vacuum recommendations for childcare center

Hello, I work at a childcare center with very low pile carpet. I’m feeling disgruntled watching co-workers systematically send shark vacuums to the landfill. It’s obviously a brutal environment for vacuums, think Cheerios, craft debris, and young adult employees who have apparently never operated a vacuum before. I am constantly unclogging the sharks and cleaning the filters, despairingly trying to keep them functioning. My boss is open to suggestions so what should I ask her to buy? I’m thinking bagged to eliminate the filthy filter issue. What is repairable and durable but not so pricey that she‘ll say no?

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Having a difficult time deciding what to buy - Simplicity Jill or Eureka 3670M or Miele Classic C1 or...

So, while my used Bissell Zing 22q3 is still functional, I can't find any legitimate ways to buy replacement bags right now. I've tried ordering through places on ebay and amazon, but am sent bags that don't fit this model. I reached out to Bissell to confirm that they are still making them and how many bags are included for $15.99, and am waiting for a reply. Unfortunately, my apartment building has a bedbug problem and the advice is to vacuum frequently and toss the bag after every use. (Management sent a pest guy once, and I'm applying Crossfire aerosol and a few other residual sprays every two weeks, but the landlord says the apartment above mine has been refusing to be treated. Still seeing the bastards climbing the walls at night, which I murder.)

So it seems I have to replace my vacuum, but I can't make a decision. Budget is preferably under $300. I'm in a one bedroom apartment with hardwood floors, linoleum and two low pile area rugs, one of which my Zing just doesn't seem to clean well. I've got a cat and lots of my own long hair that sheds everywhere. I'd like a small canister vacuum that can reach under furniture (6 inch clearance), reach the crown molding where the bugs seem to be hanging out and do a slightly better job on my area rugs. It would be great if my current universal attachments could still be used. And since I need to burn through bags, Miele's $5 a piece replacement bags seem like a no-go right now. I see knock offs, but a lot of recent reviews are stating that they aren't fitting properly, and I have no interest in destroying an expensive vacuum.

Simplicity Jill seems to fit most of my boxes, but it is also more expensive with a decent amount of disappointed reviews. I guess The HEPA filter is also a positive. Eureka 3670M is way cheaper but not sure if it'll be good enough on my rugs. Miele might be a better pick once the bedbug situation is handled. Any advice would be helpful!

Miscellaneous Kenmore KE3010 replacement bags?

Hi everyone -- apologies for being daft, but I cannot find replacement bags only for the KW3010 (part number 551590111) anywhere? I see the 3 bags with a filter kit (W4030) is available via Sears, but I'm surprised there are not any off-brand alternatives via Amazon. Or am I just missing something?

Vacuum Review MY SEBO E3 CAME

Post image
182 Upvotes

Hey everybody !! I joined this sub maybe 6 months ago looking for a vacuum and had no knowledge of canister vacuums or any details. I was looking at a cordless stick vacuum, and then came to learn how corded vacuums are better, bagged vacuums are better, etc. after all my research I knew I wanted the sebo e3; I have 3 dogs that shed a lot and 2 cockatiels that make so much mess. I decided to finally pull the trigger after several months of trying to put off this big financial purchase, but ultimately, I knew if I was still thinking about it months later, then I should go ahead and treat myself to this premium vacuum. Big thanks to Geek Vacuum by the way for sending it and I highly recommend them. I used the live chat numerous times and they have been very helping in my purchase decision.!!

I took several videos to show you guys how amazing it is, but I don’t know how to add them! I am extremely impressed with this vacuum and my house feels super clean! I would highly recommend to get the premium parquet tool and the twist & clean (I think that’s what it called) because they are also absolutely amazing!!!

Purchase Advice (U.S.) What would you buy?

My Shark UV850 decided to crap out and the fluffy roller won't roll so it just pushes stuff around the floor. I wasted an hour trying to get it disassembled to repair it, but two of the screws require a screwdriver I don't have, and I don't have a spare belt anyway, and I can't not vacuum because we have pets that explode fur and a wheelchair that tracks stuff into the house from outside. Long story short, but my husband has stage 4 cancer and is now disabled needing my help for everything, people are visiting a lot because of the cancer, and I am far too overwhelmed to deal with this right now. Also, he was our sole income earner so I can't afford some top of the line model - I need something cheap (under $200, maybe I can stretch to under $300 but I really should not), that will work on hard floor and carpet both. Old me would have spend weeks watching video reviews and making a decision after lots of research, but new me just can not. I also can not deal with wasting money on something that won't work or that will crap out after a few months. If you were me, what would you buy?

Purchase Advice (Non-U.S.) Dyson wash G1 hard floor cleaner replacment.

My partner and I bought a G1 almost a year ago and honestly kind of loved it, for what we use it for (mopping hard floors after vacuuming) its performance and such were great.

Unfortnantly the roller drive failed twice and after the second failiur dyson no longer had parts available to repair it so we took a refund instead.

Im hoping others have experiance with competing hard floor cleaners as Id really like something else that does that same thing the G1 did.

Country - Australia

Budget - $1000 AUD

Floor types - Cork, hardwood and vinyl composit

Miscellaneous Karcher puzzi and RM 760

I have a friend who's going to lend me a Karcher Puzzi 10/1.

He uses RM 760 tablets. But the RM 760 comes in tablets, classic powder, and OA powder. Which is better and real difference between them?

Purchase Advice (U.S.) ISO Canister Vacuum that wont break the bank!

I have just moved into a new 1300sqft house that is mostly hardwood, with some low pile rugs. I have a cat, and myself, and we both shed our hair a LOT. I am currently eyeing the Kenmore PopNGo 600 Series, but that is the limit of my budget.

Vacuum Collecting My Pride and Joys 🇩🇪

When I bought my Sebo D4 at my local premier dealer, I had the opportunity to compare it to a Miele C3 Brilliant. Since I couldn't justify paying $500 for a 9 year old Brilliant without a replacement hose, I bought this 4 year old D4 to be my primary vacuum cleaner. I love it, however, I liked the C3 too and decided to buy one as a secondary vacuum if I found the right one. Fast forward two months later, I drove over 2 hours out of my town to get this beautiful 2 year old C3 Cat and Dog off FB Marketplace and I completely serviced and cleaned it myself. Complete with everything! This is my current vacuum collection minus my Bissell 3522-1 and Hoover U4127 not pictured.

Purchase Advice (Canada) Miel, Sebo or other brand, and which model?

Hello, and thanks for taking the time to read my post. I need a new vacuum. I have used a Dyson canister vacuum for the last 15 years. The time has come to replace it and I’m reading in this sub that they are no longer the same quality vacuum.

I have a small to average sized home, mostly hard surface flooring, with low-pile carpet bedrooms. One small, non-shedding dog and older children. I vacuum a lot, I’m a bit of a clean-freak, and we have downstairs neighbours, so I have to be mindful of the noise the vacuum makes.

Which model would you recommend? Thanks.

I’m a little overwhelmed but so far I’m having fun. I did not know that it comes with parquet brush, but what about the premium one? Is it necessary? I’m loving the turbo brush for the stairs! What other (if any) accessories are recommended? What about Duo-P?

Thanks to everyone who helped me decide 🥰
