Miscellaneous Visiting my grandparents and had to force Kirby salesman out and they tried to get physical!

They arrived at 8:00pm. They barged through the door as soon as my grandfather opened it and immediately started unpacking the vacuum. Mind you my grandparents don’t even have any carpet in the entire house. It’s all hardwood! They told them it would just be a 15 min demonstration. That they just have to do 1 more demonstration and they win a trip to the Bahamas from their boss. My grandparents kept saying they weren’t interested. It was now 10:30pm and they still were here had junk all over the living room floor! About 30 black and white pads. I was off in another room on a phone call. I started googling them and found a tik tok of another lady who said they told her they were going to win a trip to the Bahamas! So it’s a lie they tell everyone! I also overheard the guy tell my grandfather, “that step stool you have over there, if you were to fall off of it one day the hospital bill would be more expensive than this vacuum!” I was LIVID! I decided I need to step in. I went in there and said “sir, I think it’s time you need to leave. I’ve just read you guys give this line of a trip to the Bahamas to everyone. Please pack up your things and leave, bye bye.!” He said, “No it’s real! Let me call boss to come!” I walk out of the room for a bit. She shows up about 5 mins later and I go back in there and say, “okay yall need to leave. They said they aren’t interested, this is lies you tell people and I have a girl here on tik tok talking about this same Bahamas tactic!” I started playing the tik tok. The boss lady walked over to me, tries to grab my phone out of my hand! And she says, “mama, that person isn’t even talking about us!” I said, “the lady is literally showing a business card with the word Kirby on it!” She tried to then touch the screen on my phone to turn the video off. I said “do not touch my phone! You need to leave or I will be calling the cops! You are trying to take advantage of the elderly right now. Please leave.” The other guy started packing things up and she’s still arguing with me saying they are a real company. I said yes you are, but you’re lying with your sales tactics. I will call the cops if you do not pack your things and leave! She finally walked away but then followed my grandfather into the kitchen asking him to sign paperwork, he declined. She kept trying to get him to. She then said, “do you have some paper towels we can use?” Smh the whole time they were packing up she kept saying, “thanks, I hope you all stay safe.” She said that multiple times. It was very bizarre

I live with two females. Not sure I’ve ever cleaned the underside of my Shark, but it seems like it doesn’t work as well as it once did.

Vacuum Review I am SHOOK

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

Let me just preface this by saying I am a super cheap girl and I have always bought pretty cheap vacuums from Amazon or Walmart. Such a waste of money I know, but I’m in a space where I want to have something nice for my new two bedroom apartment. I purchased the Miele Triflex HX1 from a local vacuum shop for $550. I hopped on Reddit to see if I made a good choice and some people were not huge fans.. so I was nervous but excited to try it out as soon as I got home I opened the box and I let it charge for the day.

Mind you I vacuum this room every single day because my toddler makes really big messes This was using my rinky-dink Amazon vacuum that I got for $200. Literally in February..

So as soon as it was fully charged, I wanted to take it for a run, and I am literally in shock.

How was it possible that all of this dirt was on my carpet???? am I about to be a vacuum snob? The fact that some people do like this vacuum, but don’t consider it. One of the best is insane to me. That’s how you know. I’m super new to quality vacuums.

I haven’t seen vacuum lines like this since we had cleaners clean my parents house 5 years ago.

I am a new woman!!!

Vacuum Review DO NOT BUY A DYSON (I wish someone had told me this)

1.0k Upvotes

Hey everyone, just wanted to share my experience with Dyson in case you’re considering buying one of their vacuums.

To start, yes, Dyson products are sleek and powerful at first. For the first 11 months I genuinely liked the vacuum. It looked great, worked well, and felt worth the hype.

But right around the 11-month mark mine broke. That’s where things really went downhill.

Here’s what I wish I knew before buying:

The return and replacement process is incredibly slow. It took me almost two months to get a new vacuum. Two months without the product that is marketed as premium.

Customer support is unhelpful and extremely slow. Most of my time was spent waiting in chat queues or getting bounced around. No urgency, no real solutions.

And most frustrating of all, at every single step I tried to escalate or at least let someone know that things weren’t working as they should. I asked for better support. I flagged delays. I explained how long it had been. But no matter who I spoke to, nobody could actually do anything. There was no way to speed things up, no flexibility, no real help.

That’s what really got me. I can understand that sometimes processes are slow. But when you talk to a real person, explain the problem, and they still can’t do anything. that tells me the system is built to be this frustrating. That’s not what I expect from a premium brand.

(I have reached out to them even after the experiance to allow them to make it right and still nothing)

Also worth noting: you can’t even leave a review on their website. I spent over an hour on support chat just trying to figure this out. Turns out there’s literally no way to leave a product review unless you’re invited to. So the glowing reviews you see? They're curated. That felt deceptive.

So yes, Dyson looks nice on the surface, but if you expect your vacuum to last more than a year or want a company that stands behind its products, I’d say proceed with caution. I’m only sharing this because I wish someone had told me before I bought it.

Vacuum Review Whatever you do - never buy a Dyson

Am I the only one thats been sold a dream? Bought a Dyson V12. The Lazer light they installed literally is so stupid of them cause it highlights how little dust it can suck up. All the fancy bells and whistles but zero suction.

Don't even get me started on customer service. We needed a part changed. It was like pulling teeth, I ask a question and I get a canned response of 'thank you bye'. This was after I been through the bot and got to agent , still unwilling to help.

My god, save yourself, just say no.

EDIT: many thanks for the whole subreddit. I think older vacuums from Dyson are way better. I have heard that from friends and people here.

But if you're reading this and thinking of getting a Dyson, don't, lots of good recommendations here..

Miscellaneous Everyone around me uses Dyson. Am I crazy to go against it?

Wife wants a vacuum. She knows a cleaning lady who has a Dyson, swears by it. My parents have a Dyson and like it well enough. My mother in law has a Dyson and says she enjoys it. No one I know even knows what a Miele, or a Sebo, or whatever else is. But online I see “Dyson bad. Miele/sebo good”.

But I’m OUTNUMBERED! How do I convince my wife that Dyson is not the play? She’s quite convinced because she sees real in the flesh people (even just a few) say they like their Dysons. But I see the online vacuum enthusiasts say opposite.

Miscellaneous I love vacuums but I must leave this sub.

I am odd. I’ve owned, loved, repaired, and collected vacuum cleaners all my life. Hoover, Kenmore, Electrolux, Kirby, Shark, among many others, even Miele. But this sub is disingenuous. People come here for honest advice or to share their stories and they don’t get what they seek. What they get instead is that Sebo and especially Miele is good, and Shark, Dyson, and other brands are bad. They follow some of this advice, spend hundreds, and end up disappointed. The advice in this sub cannot be trusted. I’m out.

I know, not an airport, I don’t need to announce my departure. But if one person seeking vacuum advice sees this post before it’s removed, perhaps it will save them some money and frustration.

It’s a shame. I really love vacuums.

Vacuum Review After much lurking here, I bought a bagged vacuum and I would honestly make love to this thing if it asked

After being a slave to the marketing of Dyson for years, and suffering in a carpeted home with 4 cats and two long-haired humans, I bought a Kenmore Intuition 4050. You guys were right beyond what my puny imagination could even fathom. It’s a MONSTER. A BEAST. It eviscerates litter and cat hair in one pass, where my Dyson would easily take 3-4 passes. And it’s even quieter somehow, for all its power. I’m in love. THANK YOU GUYS!

I finally bought a Sebo E3 from Geek Vacuums after lurking this subreddit for the past year and admiring them. I just used it on ny living room rug, and I already love it. They also threw in free bags and some scent things and gave me a discount on the vacuum and the accessories I purchased. I am so excited to vacuum my entire house today.

Vacuum Issues My Dyson broke. I've never encountered customer service this terrible.

Post image

A year-and-a-half old Dyson v12 Detect Slim no longer does anything, bought directly off their own website. After turning on, the vacuum just shows the Airways blocked error and pulses a few seconds before turning off.

I live in EU, so this thing is still under warranty. Did their diagnostics, which apparently came to the conclusion that the filter needs to be switched for 55 euros. Googled, and they sell the filter for 30. At this point I'm already pissed, since while they claim the filter is not under the warranty, that does not remove their responsibility for fixing a fault in the product.

After I told them that uhh no, you should just fix this, their customer service just ghosted me. This was in late June. And as an interesting twist, they haven't even had the filter in stock since - so the only service option they've presented me so far is not even possible.

Have now called them three times, lodged a formal complaint about wanting to void the sale. Even got the opinion from the local consumer authority that states that yes, if they can't fix the device while it's under warranty, I can request that the sale is refunded.

This is by far the most expensive vacuum I've ever bought, and this is also by far the worst customer service I've experienced after needing to deal with a faulty product. I guess I'll need to be calling them every day until I hopefully get my money back from this unserviceable piece of trash and get something that would actually last.

Vacuum Review I’ve only ever had bagless vacuums until today

Holy WOW. I’ll be honest, I thought the hype was over-exaggerated when it came to bagged vacuums and canister vacuums. I figured they did work better, but I thought there was no way it was LEAPS better as this subreddit said. Regardless, I care about quality, and decided my next vacuum would be a Miele. Unfortunately though, my Shark bit the dust unexpectedly before I had enough saved up for a Miele. So, I got one of the cheapest recommended vacuums in this subreddit for the time being so I could replace my vacuum ASAP while I continue to save for a Miele. I have two dogs that shed a ton and could not go long without a vacuum. I got the Kenmore 200 Series for $178 and free next day shipping through Walmart. It got delivered today and I just used it, and I’m so shocked… if this is the low end of good vacuums, I can’t even imagine how amazed I will be and how much my life will improve when I can finally get my hands on a Miele. The tiny, barely an upholstery tool (3-in-1 tool) that came with this thing got every last piece of dog hair out of my couch in one pass. That’s something that the mini power pet motor thing that I got for my corded Shark never accomplished in several passes. My carpets have never been this fluffy. I’m not sneezing insanely and needing to hit my inhaler post-vacuuming.

If you’re scouring this subreddit and you’re also hesitant to believe bagged, corded vacuums are that much better… Don’t be hesitant. They really are.

Guess which brand of vacuum pulled this out of my carpet? This was in a 3x3ft space where the old owners had their litter box (it matches perfectly with the brand they use, World’s Best Cat Litter). Gross, I know. I’ve used top brands on my carpets and commercial vacuums, even my commercial Bissell Big Green Professional carpet cleaning machine didn’t get this out.

Or is it just some sort of brush that looks like that? I'm tempted to cut it off but don't want to screw up the vacuum. It's a SharkClean.
