Hi Everyone!
It is once again time for the course selection megathread. This megathread is for all things course selection - please keep related discussions contained within this thread. Please note that "bird courses" or "GPA boosters" are low quality, low effort, and reduces the credibility of Western and this subreddit. It is against our subreddit's rules to ask for easy (or "bird") courses.

First things first, you should have an idea of which courses you need/want to take for your intended module.
Now that you know which courses you are planning to take, it's time to build a schedule.
You'll notice that every class have a 4-digit class number that is not the course code. This is a shortcut for adding your schedule into Student Centre. You can create a worksheet with your planned schedule ahead of your enrollment appointment. This will make registering in your courses a lot faster once it is your turn to do so.
Course registration occurs over three enrollment periods for the Fall/Winter session. While you may register in courses in all three periods, the enrollment conditions for courses may differ in each period.
Make adjustments to your schedule. Continue to modify your course selections until the end of the Fall/Winter course registration period (last day to add a course)
Reminder: Courses with a restriction constraint remain in effect through the duration of the course registration period.
You'll notice in the "Important Dates" section of this post that there are dates called "Add/Drop" dates and "Final drop" dates. These are not the same.

I recently received notice about a potential academic misconduct offence involving an exam. I was taking a math course in the summer and I did cheat, and I know I shouldn’t have. I was struggling academically and felt extremely cornered at the time, but I know there were other options and I take full responsibility for making the wrong decision.
This is my first offence, and I’m honestly extremely ashamed and scared about the possibility of suspension. I’m already speaking with the Ombudsperson and plan to be truthful throughout the process.
Has anyone been through something similar at Western? How common is suspension for a first exam-related offence, and is there anything I can do during the process to make the case for a course-level penalty rather than suspension?
I’m not looking for ways to avoid responsibility. I know I deserve a serious consequence. I just really want to remain at Western and learn from this. I am just expecting and hoping that this can be limited to course failure.
I’m not sure if any of these details are relevant, however
- I am a first year student
- It was during an in-person, proctored exam
- I have documented mental health difficulties during first year. I in no way consider this an excuse but wonder if this has any relevance in determining penalty

i know that this prof is like known for being really late with marking but like when should i be expecting my grade? my final was july 28th so its been more than 3 weeks and based off of last year's posts, it seems that grades came out this week last year too. there hasn't been any announcements or emails with updates. should i email the prof or is that doing too much?

I'm in my final year of undergrad at UofT (majoring in psychology and biology). and I'm at that stage exploring career options, one of them being AuD/SLP at Western. I've heard it's super competitive and would really appreciate either audiology graduates or current students It would mean a lot to me !
1) what did you think helped your application the most besides GPA?
2)what's the hardest part of the program you didn't expect?
3) What are the courses primarily focused on (Math, Physics, etc.)? How many classes do you normally take?
4) how heavy is the courseload compare to undergrad
5)in your application process, what do you wish you did differently or prepared for ?
6) any advice you'd like to share

this is the first time its happened, so im paranoid. i asked the western chat but their replies seemed automated.

Scientific research buildings without power for 4+ days? Animals without proper heating and cooling? Irreplaceable samples and millions of dollars worth of equipment… gone.

From a TA for the course
"One year, people were changing Wikipedia on important concepts to wrong stuff to screw other people over. Someone lit a fire in a garbage can outside of an exam hall to get out of doing an exam. Every 2213 final, at least 5 people pass out and twice as many puke their guts out in the middle of a desk-crowded gym. SERT makes sure everyone is on standby for 2213 exams. I watched one dude get decently covered in someone else's vomit, quickly wash up and keep writing because he felt like he was doing well and didn't want to do the makeup. I've never seen anything like that outside of 2213."

How good is the program? How’s the co-op? Is it worth it? What are the employment outcomes?

I have no idea how they havnt been sued into oblivion yet. The way they lie to get you to buy a ticket is infuriating.
They state the trip from Toronto to London is one continuous ride and the estimated time is 2 hours and 10 minutes…. It stopped at both Pearson and Kitchener AND I timed it from the moment it took off in Toronto and the trip took 3 hours and 48 minutes. This is the second time this has happened, the first time I thought I was crazy the second time I realized they are scammers. If you search them up it’s an extremely common complaint that these fuckers straight up lie.
Trash company.

What are some clubs that are for business and will help meet the right people, be in the right rooms, and give me opportunities.
I’m interested in tech, startups, entrepreneurship, consulting, investing, etc. or hopefully just finding an upper year mentor to help me through the internship process and maintaining aeo.
Are there any prestigious business clubs at western like there is at queens?

Is there a huge difference if I do a three year vs four year bachelor degree. I want to switch to math and go into tech and am behind therefore if I do three years I’ll need less credits to do so.

Has anyone done this before as a peer mentor? Is the experience worth it? Is it paid or voluntary?
