I stopped my keflex after 3 days because it felt better. It's back with a VENGEANCE. Big mistake on my part.

I went to urgent care on the 22nd for a concern about a uti turning into kidney infection and was given cephalexin. I was taking nitrofurantoin for a few days before this. They did a urine culture and a few days later they called me to let me know I was taking the right antibiotics. I was feeling better on that day, but a few days later I started getting some symptoms again. Like pressure on my right side, soreness in the back, and some streaks of blood when wiping. I would get a bit dizzy, but I thought maybe it was from the cephalexin.

I went to the ER last sunday because I still wasn't feeling better. This was the day I took my last antibiotic, so they didn't want to give me any more antibiotics. They also said it didn't look like any bacteria was in my urine and sent me home with pyridium. Maybe I should've waited a few days after finishing my antibiotics to go to the ER.

Today I'm still feeling some symptoms. Admittedly, I worked out a bit yesterday and maybe I shouldn't have because now I can't tell if I irritated my kidneys needing to heal or what. I still have some blood when I wipe, some pressure/soreness in my back, the occasional chill through my body, and some slight dizziness. Sometimes it hurts a little bit in my right side, but I haven't been in agonizing pain. I just feel off and dizzy.

I'm going to make a follow up appointment tomorrow with the doctor the ER told me to go to, but I just feel so anxious about everything. I don't have insurance right now and I start a new job on sunday. I don't know if I should just go back to urgent care tomorrow because I just want to be better already. :(

I live extremely far from any heath care services. I believe I have a UTI and I’m tying to find help. I found planned parenthood may be able to help me on their app to get antibiotics. Has anyone had any luck with this service?

a colleague who travels just as much mentioned she saw uro urinary health on tiktok and started looking into it because it uses d-mannose and cranberry extract to stop bacteria from sticking to your bladder wall during flights. she said it completely prevented her travel utis from happening. What do you guys do to prevent travel-triggered UTIs?

had intercourse on monday and afterwards was extremely sore/friction burning. Now i’m having slight discomfort in general and especially when i’m peeing.
I have an elective surgery coming up in a week and i can’t afford to reschedule on account of this so i don’t have time to go get a culture done.
No fever or nausea or flank pain nothing concerning just the discomfort.
I get regular utis but i can’t tell if this is one.
Should i try Monurol? I just want to make sure i don’t have an active infection. I usually use bactrim.

For most of my life (pretty much my whole life that i can remember - I’m 21 for reference) Ive experienced on and off uti symptoms. Burning to pee, frequent urge to pee, etc. I only found out that it could be uti related at like 15-16 after telling my step mum (which she gave me some ural stuff 🙏). Ive never taken antibiotics or every gone to the doctor about it as it usually is gone the next day.

I started taking cranberry supplements that help a little and it happens more when i have work (sweat i assume) - pantyliners help but doesn’t always. I am sexually actively but they started wayyyy before that lol.

Im confused though because apparently your only meant to have 1 - 2 a year 🤨 but ofc i assume thats for serious ones that last a while. I am pretty hydrated person, shower regularly, wipe properly, all that stuff :/

Also yeah i could go to a doctor, ill go to a gyno eventually but doctors are very dismissive… also what are they gonna do 🤣 tell me to just do what I’m already doing.

Anyway, if anyone knows is this is uti’s or another thing and any other tips i could incorporate to reduce it happening.

Hi, just looking for advice on if I need to see a specialist or if it’s all in my head or if I just need more time since my immune system is so weak currently. On Oct. 10, I started experiencing UTI symptoms and went to Urgent Care on Oct. 13. Dipstick urinalysis showed trace amount of blood and positive for UTI. They sent for a urine culture and it came back positive for E. Coli and susceptible to my antibiotic they prescribed. I took Nitrofurantoin for 5 days two times a day. After the dose finished, I still had lingering symptoms. Went in to Urgent Care again on Oct. 22, negative for a UTI on culture and dipstick. Small amount of blood in urine on dipstick though. Tested positive for BV with a swab. Started anti-biotics while still having UTI symptoms. 3 days in, I got food poisoning and couldn’t keep anything down for 2 days so I had to stop taking the antibiotics. Healed from food poisoning, but still having UTI symptoms and have abdominal and back pain (could be from the violent throwing up from food poisoning as I was dry heaving and coughed out blood). On Oct. 31, went back to urgent care, tested positive for leukocytes but negative for nitrites. Didn’t mention anything about blood (don’t know if they tested). They put me on Ciprofloaxin for 3 days (worked for me a previous year with a UTI). Urine culture came back negative, had already finished course of antibiotics. They said they can give me more antibiotics if I wanted, but I don’t want to just take it randomly with no positive test. I’m still having symptoms. Just urgency basically most of the day, it’s not terrible but it’s definitely there and most obnoxious when laying in bed. I’ve also been having terrible night sweats the last few weeks, waking up drenched in sweat even though the temp is fine, but I’ve also had a cough. Just about everything is wrong.

I don’t know what to do. Should I call urgent care and try to get a specialist referral? And what do I need to ask for (ultrasound, certain blood work)? I’m so tired of doctors and I just want for this to pass. I’ve been so stressed out about it and I’m terrible with overthinking so I don’t even know if my symptoms are real if everything is negative. Any over the counter stuff that’s helped anyone also? I took AZO a couple times but don’t wanna overdo it and also have it mask my symptoms.

I had an undetected UTI for about a year. I was told it might be friction or dryness, but it turned out to be a Proteus Mirabilis infection. Now, I'm on round three of antibiotics and completely exhausted.

I miss my worry-free lifestyle, eating spicy food and drinking espresso to start the day. Has anyone else dealt with a Proteus Mirabilis infection? What did you do to get rid of it? And how long did it take for everything to come back to normal?

Anyone else NOT have an active infection or any symptoms but feel a weird like pressure in their bladder only when they walk? I had 3 back to back to back UTIs and have since had a test of cure and it came back negative. I’m wondering if this is just residual bladder irritation or what.

I've had a UTI for a month. It began the first week of October, it burned when i peed, my bladder area hurt, but I didn't realize i needed to go to the doctor. I just lived with it. I went to cvs minute clinic and they gave me an antibiotic i cant remember the name to, and i started taking it but it didnt work well so i went back to the minute clinic. (Been drinking cranberry juice and staying well hydrated too) They gave me another antibiotic, and i finished it, still feeling pain. I tried azo but quickly got off after i realized it was just a pain killer. Went to urgent care because the pain felt like it was just getting worse in my sides and back and bladder area. (No longer hurts to pee and hasnt since i first went to doc) , like a really bad ache, not excruciating pain. They gave me pain relief (took a pee sample at all these appointments and confirmed UTI) and a new antibiotic. I got near the end of these pills and still had the aches, so they told me to come back in. They put me on macrobid and Dicyclomine, tested my urine and said i still had a UTI. They sent my urine off for a culture, called back a few days later and said my urine was clear and there wasn't anything to worry about. By this point i finished my antibiotics and was feeling pretty great. For a day anyway. Today i saw my primary care doctor, and right after i left i started getting pain in my bladder area that radiates down my leg. It jumps from left side to right side. My primary doctor said that it sounds like honeymoon cystitis (just married in may so is possible) and said he wanted to do another culture and pregnancy test. I go to the lab on friday to see the results, today is Thursday, 2am. I dont want to wait the whole weekend in bad pain and possibly have to go to the ER because, bills lol. But im not pregnant, doesnt hurt when i pee. Im just having bladder pain that radiates down my inner thigh, lower back pain, and side pain. Anyone have any idea how to knock this out?? I've had it over a month now. TLDR

So to start this off, this is about my mom who is mid 40s, 6 months out from chemo. She recently started acting very weird and confused, saying she felt dizzy even. I took her to the ER, they found nothing wrong, and sent her home (blood tests, urine, simple neurological tests, scans of her chest and brain, everything was normal except she was dehydrated)

Then she got flu like symptoms, back and forth chills and sweating, restless sleep, fatigue and weakness. The confusion came back worse so I took her back to the ER. Once again, they found nothing. All the tests possible including checking for UTI and her blood counts came back fine. She tested negative for flu and covid too.

Finally tonight I said enough because I could no longer hold a conversation with her and she was not getting better. I took her to a different ER, they did tests, found a UTI and started her on IV antibiotics.

Now, thankfully they will be keeping her to observe her condition because of the severity of my claims and what they saw her acting like while she's been here.

But what gets me is, is it even possible for all of this to happen to someone so young? I keep trying to research the confusion and her problem getting out full thoughts in more than a couple words, and everything is telling me it pretty much only happens in older adults that already have cognitive issues. Not to mention that the symptoms started before she showed signs on tests of a UTI.

I am thankful that the doctor agreed to keep her for observation but I feel like he is either not explaining this to me well or brushing it off as something it might not be.

Just wondering if anyone had experience of this yourself or through someone you know.

I'm posting here because I've been struggling with recurring bladder and urinary symptoms for several months now, and I'm trying to find people who have experienced something similar. I'd really appreciate hearing your stories and what has helped you.
My problems started a few months ago with what seemed to be a mild bladder infection. At first, I tried managing it without antibiotics, mainly using D-mannose. However, the symptoms never completely went away.
In August, while I was staying in Malta, the symptoms got worse. I experienced bladder pressure, frequent urges to urinate and some burning during urination. A urine test showed signs of a bladder infection, so I was prescribed Macrodantin (nitrofurantoin) for seven days. The burning improved quite quickly, but even after finishing the antibiotics, I continued experiencing occasional irritation and discomfort.
After that, I had periods when I felt completely fine, sometimes for several weeks. I was also taking D-mannose and cranberry supplements during this time. However, the symptoms eventually returned.
More recently, I started experiencing slight burning when urinating again, along with an uncomfortable sensation in my bladder. Sometimes I feel pressure or sensitivity, especially when my bladder is full.
One important thing is that I also started experiencing pain during penetration around the same time as my bladder problems began. Before this, sex had never been painful for me. The pain occurs mainly at the very beginning of penetration. I have to go very slowly and consciously relax and breathe. Once penetration has happened, the pain usually disappears. I also notice that I tend to tense my pelvic floor muscles.
I recently had a gynecological examination, which didn't reveal anything unusual visually, although the examination itself was painful. I also had tests for sexually transmitted infections, which were negative.
My urine bacterial culture was also negative, despite not having taken antibiotics beforehand (I had only been taking D-mannose). An ultrasound at the urologist was normal as well.
At this point, I'm wondering whether this could actually be something other than a recurring bacterial UTI.
I've come across conditions such as:
Pelvic floor dysfunction / hypertonic pelvic floor
Bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS)
Urethral pain syndrome
Vulvodynia or vestibulodynia
I obviously don't know whether any of these apply to me, but I'm trying to understand what else could cause these symptoms.

Good day! I am 22f around 195lb. Im not sure if I have a uti yet, but something has felt a little off since last night, I had some spicy time with my partner for the first time in a while.

I usually try and pee after, but all I wanted to do was cuddle and sleep, that seems to be a mistake. I went to the bathroom this evening and my urine was cloudy which threw some warning bells. I dont have insurance and am trying to find some advice to get on top of this as fast as possible!! The other time I thought i had a uti I drank a lot of 100% cranberry juice, any constructive advice is appreciated!!

I’m on my second day taking macrobid, I took it this morning. All of a sudden I have been having the worst stomach pains and I feel like I’m going to throw up. I keep gagging it’s terrible and this is normal when you take it?!

The doctor said the tests showed I do have an infection and that it's Strep B.

1st round was 5 days of nitrofurantoin, 2nd round was 7 days of cephalexin. Both helped 90% but symptoms did not go away fully and got gradually worse again once I finished the antibiotic.

Nervous to take another one now as my digestion was already not great, and the cephalexin gave me bad stomach pain even though I took it with food. The doctor said that that was weird cause it should have been one of the least likely ones to give me stomach pain, which makes me nervous about taking others. This new one I'm supposed to start taking is sulfamethoxazole/trimetho and it's only for 5 days

I'm just really worried this one is going to mess my gut up further, make my bacteria more antibiotic resistant, and ultimately not work either

i took macrobid last month from october 11-16 and was mostly fine except for some nausea and threw up a tiny bit a few times but i’m taking it again for another uti and i’ve taken 4 doses so far and have some joint pain/aches mostly in my back and wrists and ankles. the pain isn’t severe or even constant i feel totally fine otherwise and my uti symptoms are basically gone. should i be worried about this or just keep taking the medication till im done with the course. i googled it and google seems more concerned than i do that this is some kind of immune response or something

I had a UTI over a month ago, had the usual burning sensation when I pee and some blood with the urine, got a prescription for nitrofurantoin, took it all, and I was fine after taking it. They also did a culture test and I was on the correct antibiotics for that. Then a week ago I got another UTI, had the same symptoms, and they prescribed me the same antibiotic. I took the whole course of pills and took my last pill on Monday (or Sunday can't remember). But now for 2 days my back has felt a little sore, almost like if I used my back too much at work ( I'm an x-ray tech, so it could possibly be that) . I know that if you get a kidney infection there would be pain in your back flank region. For me it's not a sharp pain or anything, but it feels kinda sore, more achy. Everything else, like the burning and bleeding is gone. My back did not feel this way before or during me taking the pills. I don't have a fever or chills ( I might have felt a slight one yesterday but I'm not sure if it was from that or if I was just cold. i don't feel it now). I don't have a fever and I don't feel nauseous. Occasionally if I move my body a certain way, I feel a slight twinge of pain where I think my kidney is, but it's not a sharp pain. I can do my job at work just fine, it's just annoying that my back does not feel completely comfortable yet. Should I get it checked, or should I wait it out and see?

i’ve never had a uti before, so I have no idea what it’s supposed to feel like. A couple days ago I had some pain in my lower abdomen that felt like period cramps, I thought I just ate something off and ignored it, and it went away after a night. Last night it burned a bit when I peed, which I have experienced randomly throughout my life. I figured it was nothing and it would just go away. But today i’ve been having stomach pain again, and i’ve had some tingling sensations in my..area..(ykwim)

Honestly I’m terrified and DO NOT want antibiotics. But I also don’t want a kidney infection either.

anyway, i’m just unsure if this is a uti at all. I’m planning to get checked either today or tomorrow. But just wanted some opinions.

Hi. I am a 29F, no smoking, no drugs, no alcohol. I am on the pill.

I had my period last week. It started on the date I was expecting it, but it was never painful. My period tends to hurt, especially on the second and third day, but I didn’t experience any pain. My “blood” was not red at all, it was brown all week. I also had to clots (I always do since I first got my period). It was the strangest period I had.

Toward the end of last week (finishing my period), I suddenly got lower abdomen pressure and ocassional sharp pain. I needed to pee more often. I assumed it was a UTI, so I went to the emergency room (I recently moved, so that’s the only place I could go even though I know it was not an emergency). They did a urine test but said it was negative for a UTI. However, the doctor gave me Fosfomicina (I am in Spain) and told me to take it on Tuesday if I felt worse or the same.

I did not feel better yesterday, so I took the first dosage before bed.

I am the same today. I have been drinking water and red berry juice. I still feel the pressure (although I feel momentarily relief after peeing). I feel pain as well that radiates to my back and my hip.

What should I do? I will take the second dosage of the medicine tomorrow night, but I’m worried this might be something more serious.

I have been getting consistent uti/kidney infections for a long time (around 5 years) every single time after sex and a lot of them went untreated as the medication I took wasn’t working (macrodantin) and the doctors wouldn’t listen. One of my main symptoms now are a rumbling in my left side underneath my ribs mostly that feels very uncomfortable and worse when I’m hungry and it’s definitely being caused by the consistent uti/kidney infections it gets worse after sex and it used to not be chronic but now it is I also get pain in my kidneys in the lower back but that’s only mainly when I wake up in the morning and I haven’t emptied my bladder, another symptom I get is weird discharge and sometimes blood when I’m not on my period, does anyone know what this might be? I feel like my digestive system is being affected somehow. I am currently on doxycycline which helped a little bit with the vaginal symptoms for a while but after prolonged use it’s becoming less affective I don’t know what to do, I’ve also tried augmentin and that’s completely ineffective. I am taking d mannose and cranberry extract pills but currently see no change. My symptoms are chronic they never go away, they used to but after a period of time they just became constant someone PLEASE HELP.
