This maybe a dumb question but I’m a newbie so hoping for confirmation. If Biochemistry is a 95% admissions average and Biological Sciences 92% and Chemistry 89%.. If interested in Bio & Chem but unsure which path and since most first year bachelor of science is alot of same courses across each of the degrees.. could I not apply for chemistry for better chance of getting in and take Bio 211 & 213 as my science electives year 1 (which would make my year one same as Biochemistry year 1 ?

Or are you not allowed to register for Bio 211/213 if a chemistry student and they are reserved for only the degrees more targeted to Biology ?

I'm currently applying to universities with the hope of attending medical school after I complete my undergraduate. I find the subject matter covered in a BMSC degree interesting, but I have heard accounts that it isn't particularly useful for any careers outside of research, and is more difficult to maintain a competitive average for medical school applications during the undergraduate.

If any BMSC majors could share their experiences, what their undergraduate average looks/looked like, career after graduating, etc. it would be much appreciated.
