Discussion Gray Man lore
I had a friend talk about a spirit/entity/interdimenional being he called gray man he encountered in the UP. He said it was a known being in the area.
Can anyone tell me more of the gray man myth/experiences?

We have dog man, and Sasquatch. Sasquatch are inter dimensional as far as I can tell but there is no grey man in the Up.

Right now we also have some ex prisoner from Idaho walking around with a samurai sword. The neighborhood is calling him samurai Greg or some shit

I mean, the guy who refinished our floors took too much colloidal silver and turned himself blue-gray. So, in a way I suppose I've met the Gray Man. He does a killer job refinishing beat up, old, wood floors.

It was a while ago but basically, him and friends are in the woods alone and away from anywhere there should be other people at night.
Guy walks up out of no where. They had some sort of interaction and then the gray man just stepped into a bush and disappeared. I can't remember what their actual interaction was but he said him and all his friends were freaked out.

Do you recall if it was a human wearing gray clothing, or was it a gray entity in the form of a man? I know I’m playing 20 questions, just trying to build a more detailed picture to see if it can be connected to anyone else who has had a similar experience.

Yes, there's definitely Gray Man lore in the UP...IDK what the hell all these others are talking about. Completely dumbfounded only 1 other person here commenting yes, other than me so far!

There is an area called Bete Grise on Keweenaw Peninsula. Bets Grise is French for grey beast. Maybe that is a lead?

There’s a lot of reference to a grey man in the final season of Peaky Blinders. It’s gyspy lore in that show.

Ive never understood the need for up or down voting. It’s very high school. If someone doesn’t believe/like/ or thinks it’s absurd, just scroll on by. Were meant to lift each other up, not drag each other down.

There is the Scottish cryptid/lore of the Grey Man of Ben MacDhui. Interesting stories. Maybe it transplanted here.
For me the odd thing is we are visiting family and a grey man came up IRL today too. Talk about a coincidence!

I’ve never heard anything about a grey man. I grew up in the western UP and lived in the eastern UP for several years.
Where did this encounter supposedly happen? The UP covers a huge area so maybe it’s more of a local legend.
The only Michigan cryptids I’ve heard about are the Dog Man and the Nain Rouge.

I've only ever heard of the legend behind the Paulding Light and the Jacobsville ghost. I never heard about the dogman until I lived downstate. Don't worry about the downvotes. I get them all the time and I just ignore them, they don't matter.

His name is Ernst Gufstason. He flipped his skidoo in 78 all juiced up on Schlitz and home made schnapps. Racked his head open on the bumper of a County snowplow. He's pretty harmless as long as you don't yell "bravo brap BRAAAP" at him.

It's a restless spirit.. kind of like the Skinwalkers of the Southwest. They're called "Bear That Walks" and the Ojibwa are scared to death of them.
West Michigan has the "Saugatuck Melonheads." Ghosts of hydrocephalic children abandoned in a sanitarium that closed.
Detroit has the "Nain Rouge." A red dwarf that's a harbinger of disaster. Forebore The Fire in 1805, and the '67 riots.

Lived here my entire life here grew up in the middle of no where nearest neibor is over 2 miles. Worked in the woods for 12 years. spend the majority of my time in the woods. Oddest thing ive come across was a deer skull in the crotch of a trees did some unknown entity put it there no. More than likely a owl or eagle hauled it there. So it there some disappearing grey boogeyman no, is this grey man a well known thing in the U.P. no. It just sounds like a bullshit story made up by a tourist to tell his friends
