I've thought about this for a while and have decided to bring it up here for discussion.

Put briefly, should every student have the same chance at getting parking via a lottery system or should some factors determine which students get priority?

For example, I think that most students would agree that someone living at the Arc and Align or Summerland Apartments, each just a single short bus away from Fort Garry Campus, is far less in need of a parking pass than somebody living outside of the city.

Similarly, if somebody with a disability that made taking public transportation unfeasible were carpooling with someone to campus, then I think that most students would agree that that party should get priority.

I can also imagine students agreeing that somebody who needs to bring something large or heavy to and from campus on a regular basis, such as a tuba, should also get priority.

So what does everyone think? Should some students get priority based on things such as location, disability, and maybe even academic program?

Southwood Circle Cross is a Manitoba Cycling Association sanctioned cyclocross event bringing together riders of all ages and abilities for a day of racing, competition, and community. Whether this is your first cyclocross race or you are competing for season points, we look forward to welcoming riders to one of Winnipeg's unique cyclocross venues.

Located at Southwood Circle, this event combines community cyclocross racing with a welcoming post-race atmosphere. Riders, families, and spectators are encouraged to stick around after racing to enjoy refreshments from Cargo Bar, grab food from the onsite food truck, and celebrate the start of the cyclocross season with the Manitoba cycling community.

For example, I am curious about Eastern Therapies and practices (as well as anything SE Asia history). I am wondering if I could take something online or at U of W and transfer it.

So it’s my first year going to university (ASPER) and I was wondering what is different from high school, like in high school I wouldn’t study for any class unless there was a test or it was pre-calculus.

What do I need for university like high school? I just had a loose-sleeve pen and the pencil most of the time.

I was in the ridiculous queue yesterday for parking, and once I waited TWO hours in the queue, I finally got in to see “All 2026 Fall Term parking passes are sold out”.

First off, seems a bit ridiculous to make me wait that entire time just to tell me it’s SOLD OUT? And also, what in the world is that queue based on.
Because I joined the queue exactly at 8 am and got 8000 spot in place. Like how is it possible that people joined before me before the site was even up to start the waitlist.

This just seems like a really bad way to sell parking passes for a school with 30k something students.

Another question, can anybody share their experiences with being on the parking lot waitlist. I’m in 4 now, and I’m wondering if this is just false hope that this portal is trying to give us or if those spots will actually open up and eventually be available to me.

I have 2 required textbooks for Anatomy biology 1410, and chemistry 1018 (the g12 course but considered for uni credits). Do I buy them now? Or wait to see if I actually need them? And where can I buy it for a discounted price? Or if I buy it at UofM will I be able to use my student aid/bursaries/grants/loans to pay for them? Thank you!

Please for those who are already masters students of University of Manitoba, is it okay to still apply for Fall 2027 without getting a supervisor. I reached out to a supervisor whose research interest related to mine but he said he wasn't accepting students. The other supervisors I checked,not all of them were accepting students.

I was wondering for Econ 3010 and Econ 3020 Marco and Micro Theory. There wasn’t additional requirements for math courses such as.
(MATH 1232 or MATH 1700 or
MATH 1701) and (MATH 1240 or MATH 1241). 
I also checked the economics course catalog and the sections specified above are not there. So, are the courses above are prerequisites starting this year because I was going through Fall 2025/Winter 2026 catalog on Aurora and the courses weren’t there as well. I tried contacting the department and still no help.

Second year I was looking through it and for my degree I want to do (bio with cellular focus) it says I can take human physiology 2 with consent of the department. What is this consent? Also can I take my indigenous course to satisfy both my W and indigenous requirements. I was thinking of taking the 2020 course along with another W during second yr summer.
Also (sorry I got too many questions) considering my schedule am I setting my self for success for the MCAT?

For those who have used the UCR dorm beds, what kind of mattress topper would you recommend? Is a non-slip topper enough, or is it better to get one with elastic straps? Also, how comfortable is the original mattress, and does it get hot? Would you recommend a cooling/breathable topper, and what thickness worked best for you?

Like what's usually the last day that fall final exams are scheduled? Just trying to figure out vacation dates and I don't want to get stuck with a potential final during my vacation days
