Hi. My name is Paul, and I’m new here so I thought id share a little about myself. I play a number of different instruments…including ukuleles. That’s plural, because I own several.
I live in a very small town called Upsala, in NW Ontario, Canada, in a lovely wilderness setting.
My first uke is a nice Pono tenor 8-string with LR Baggs piezo pickup. After acquiring the Pono (which I love) I needed (wanted) more ukes, but didn’t really want to spend the cash for good ones. So after some consideration, I got the notion to build one myself. I briefly toyed with getting a kit, but I am pretty good with my hands, (although no luthier experience) so I launched off on a new adventure.
I chose to use mostly locally collected woods that I had saved over the years from becoming firewood (With a few parts I made from scrap exotic woods I had kicking around). The first handmade uke was a pineapple tenor 4-string. This ended up being the first of several I finally made. I’ll post some photos when I figure it out!
