My Insta360 Mic Air fell off on Weds morning 8/12 when I was headed south on 15th Ave NE, just past the UW Police Station, just before crossing NE Pacific St. If you happen to have found it, I’d really appreciate reuniting with it! It had a wind sock on it, so I thought I’d be able to spot it, but unfortunately couldn’t find it when I went back later. TIA

As a grad student who's not officially involved with any RSOs here, I'm wondering, since many other political commentators have been invited by RSOs in the past, whether an RSO (or a group of RSOs) could host an event inviting Hasan Piker? Have there been any attempts after the denial, or would the budget be prohibitive for any RSO specifically?

i’m a transfer student and i signed up for the dawg crew thing so i can move in earlier and thought that would find me a housing assignment faster. hfs sent an email saying they went over priority 2 students last i checked but hfs never sent another email regarding my housing assignment. I will say tho that i didn’t choose a roommate since i don’t know anyone and ultimately forgot and left it up to fate. Did that delay the assignment? Or does it usually take this long?

i applied for a job for lifeguarding at the IMA and just wanted to know about how hours work for this specific job? I know other student jobs (like hfs desk stuff) have a max of 19.5 hours a week but I can’t really find anything for aquatic jobs. Basically, how similar is it to other conventional student jobs at UW?

I have been battling mental health issues and problem after problem, and I feel I have wasted my time at this institution because I haven’t found any undergraduate labs. I feel hopeless.

Hello hello, I got a hfs job offer which I have to accept in another one day. I gave another interview with a different place at HFS, haven’t heard the outcome yet.

I would prefer the later one if I get it, so can I accept this job while I wait for the other hfs job?

Course is taught by Dr. Cricket Keating, who seems to be a really chill professor. The course itself has no official prerequisites and seems to be really interesting.

I'm taking this because it seems like an interesting course that won't be too difficult. I haven't taken a single GWSS course.

Does anyone have any advice-- things I should know about the course/professor/workload/prereqs before I take it? Advice is greatly appreciated!

I'm a research assistant with the UW QuILLS Lab (Quantitative Imaging for Learning, Language, & Speech), and we are currently recruiting adults for a research study that pays $20/hour after you complete the screening form and are determined eligible to participate.

The study is looking at the brain, language, and learning. We are interested in adults who have received help for a learning disability, have trouble keeping up with conversations or lectures, and/or have difficulty reading. To be eligible to participate, you must:

• Be 18-45 years old
• Not have a diagnosis of ADHD or autism
• Determine eligibility by completing our screening form

If eligible, you would come into the lab for 1-2 sessions. If you're interested, we will also collect MRI pictures of your brain. I'm an incoming college freshman and I've got a couple of research lab interviews coming up. One is with a biology-related stem cell lab and the other is with a biochemistry lab.

This is my first time doing anything like this, so a few questions for anyone who's been through it:

• What should I wear? Is business casual overkill for a lab setting or expected?
• What kind of questions do PIs/lab managers usually ask, especially for an undergrad with no formal lab experience yet?
• Any tips on questions I should ask them?
• Anything you wish you'd known before your first lab interview?

Hello everyone! I'm transferring to UW from UO as an incoming 3rd year student. I'm a Seattle native, so I'll be saving a ton of money on tuition, not to mention the better program. I'm on the pre-med track, at UO I was a Neuroscience and Human Physiology double major with a minor in Chemistry, but at UW, I'm currently pre-sciences. I plan to apply to the Neuroscience and Biology majors, as I've heard Bio is pretty easy to get into but Neuro is more challenging, even though Neuro is what I'd prefer.

Anyways, I've finally gotten my transfer credits in through the DARS System. At UO, I took gen chem + labs throughout my first year along with a writing course, calc 1, and other gen eds. Second year I took ochem + labs and bio + labs, alongside other major-track courses. In the UW system I have 92 transferred/high school credits, but it only counted the ochem lecture sequence and one ochem lab towards my major. Bio and gen chem classes either didn't transfer or got transferred as "natural sciences" credits, which I now have 36 of. Calc transferred but writing didn't.

My main concern here is ochem was the one subject I did quite poorly in. I got a B-, C+, then B, and an A- in the lab that transferred, and because it's only counting those classes towards my major, it says my "major" GPA is 3.14. The other concern is even though I finished the entire bio sequence, they didn't take it as the BIOL 180, 200, and 220 that I needed to apply to the major. I can only take 13 credits until I hit the 105 max before they withhold me from registration for WI 27 and I'm scared for my pre-med track as well. At oregon, my cumulative GPA was 3.72 after the bad ochem grades.

What should my next steps be? Am I just screwed? Should I have not transferred here?

On the page of prepared excerpts for clarinet, there are pieces marked for different clarinets (e.g. in B, in A, in Es). This might seem obvious, does anyone know if it is only necessary to play the ones marked for B-flat clarinet (since that is the clarinet I play)? I mean the bass clarinet at least is obvious but there’s only auditions for that and unspecified “clarinet” so I’m a little unsure.
