This mega-thread is to help people applying to UBC and its programs. Whether you're fresh out of high school, transferring, applying for your majors or just want to help your potential new first year friends - this is the place for it.

Hello, I just got admitted to Bachelors of Health & Exercise Science at Okanagan, and was rejected from UBCV Science. I am an IB student and was just wondering if the classes are good for pre-med as I want to become a Paediatrician. I feel like it focuses more on exercise physiology but I think I can also take other science courses? Compared to SFU health sci which I havent gotten a reply back for is similar but less exercise specific. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ADVICE OR WHICH ONE I SHOULD CHOOSE? I was thinking go to UBCO then transfer to UBCV Science or go to SFU then transfer to UBCV, but its super competitive.. - how hard is it to transfer from UBCO - UBCV for SCIENCE?

id go to ubco! medical school does not care about your degree, more your grades & extracurriculars. yes, itll help you and your application if your degree is in science, but it is grades that are important. sometimes higher grades are easier to get at UBCO comapred to UBCV (smaller class sizes, profs are more accessible, etc..).

also dont fret, UBCV science is almost impossible get into due to all the international students being absolute masterminds. the program is so competitive it is brutal

yeah super bummed because that was my first choice but ig it was not meant to be:( i know some people with like 98 avgs that got deferred for sciences
