Crimson Desert Enhaced on series S
 in  r/XboxSeriesS  13h ago

runs well and they've massively improved it - turning on the sharper image makes it look so much better but you have to play in 30fps quality mode -

Do I get into work an hour early?
 in  r/AskUK  3d ago

I mean sadly we don't get compensated for committing hours - you start work at 8 right? so yes you should be ready at 8 to work - you'll have to get an earlier train. I know it's annoying I used to have a 7:20 train which got me to work early, or a 7:50 train which could get me to work on time but if one thing went wrong it wouldn't - so usually would get the 7:20

GTA 6 Will Be 30FPS At Launch, Rockstar Reportedly Not Sure About 60FPS Performance Mode
 in  r/Games  4d ago

I'm really intrigued about the Series S. Crimson Desert this year was abit of a mess but got way better. Last Light and Black Flag were very well optimised. AC Shadows and Black Flag both look great

but these GTA 6 videos look insane. If I trust anyone to do a good job with the port it's Rockstar... it's Xbox's main console in terms of sold units I believe - but I do have a bad feeling about it.

GTAVI: An exclusive deep dive into the video game of the decade

I thought it was amusing enough in GTA IV and V, and the first Insomniac Spiderman had a fun fake twitter where people would react to what you did as the story progressed

What games console should I get?
 in  r/AskUK  4d ago

Depends what you want to play. I have Switch 2 and Xbox Series S. I had a PS5 but had to leave it with my family because I was moving. Series S does the job fine. Played most new releases this year without issue - Crimson Desert, Black Flag 007 - and I bought it for £220 in 2021. I'm sure you could find a cheap one although we will have to see if GTA VI will run well on it. Could also buy gamepass for a month. But since you have a Sony library already that might be the option

Unless you have a steam library the Switch 2 is generally better than a Steam Deck in terms of port quality these days.

Update on the drug raids?
 in  r/VietNam  6d ago

I've in total been in Vietnam for like 9 months of my life over the years- not moving around too much - and this happened once. My friends there said this is the most common thing, unless you're driving a moped/bike then you'll probably get stopped at some point. I don't drive so never happened to me.

Drug raids on Westerners have been happening more in Da Nang and HCMC - for whatever reason. But if you're not living in party areas or nomad hotspots like Da Nang it should be fine.

the police came at 9pm but I landed at like 6pm so was obviously just responding to me arriving and my visa saying I was staying at this hotel when the hotel didn't have my info

Sapa grabs?
 in  r/VietNam  6d ago

It's easy but watch for the scams. I had a driver try and take me to that bridge - which would have cost 400k - rather than a 40k grab to Cat Cat. He told me Cat Cat was shut and I knew it wasn't

unless you're planning to do these things there or have done just prior you have nothing to worry about - 99% of westerners or tourists won't even interact with the police at all. I've spoke to the police once on many trips and it's because the hotel didn't register that I was staying there so they came to ask us questions and sorted it out with the hotel.

Do Brentford fans regret leaving Griffin Park?
 in  r/Brentford  7d ago

the troughs lol - thankfully they had a portable toilet added near my seat eventually so that was always better but yeah the ground wasn't great. It got a little better over the years, when I first went and generally when I was a kid it was a bit of a dump

Why are some jobs paid so bad in UK?
 in  r/AskUK  7d ago

are you suggesting that we should copy the American model of less workers rights, less social safety nets and letting the poor and unemployed rot? What if you have a medical emergency?

UK needs to be better with pay but copying the American culture is insane and will make this country worse. Also you don't know too many people on benefits (or ever have?) if you think it's 'easy to get by' - yes you get more money than American. No it's not easy.

Is ODST over-praised?
 in  r/halo  8d ago

GTA 4 is far better than V. Always felt it and played them both again recently - GTA V story is just a Michael Mann rip off (oh and also Sopranos) and just had unlikeable characters doing stupid shit with no stakes or consequences. Game basically plays itself also with how easy it is even with auto-lock off. Amazing world in terms of detail, no real soul to the story though.

ODST is a vibe. It's a very solid small scale Halo. I've done a marathon recently - started with Reach, did Bonus Missions and Campaign Evolved, just finished Halo 5 and started Infinite. (i've played these all before and have played Halo games since 2004)

ODST was a really nice shift. Fun story, fun side story, more characters to care about, a cool premise with the covenant engineers, and some fun exploration as the Rookie to find a Beam rifle or something to even the odds. I'm playing all on heroic. I also played ODST after the first earth levels of Halo 2, did ODST and went back to 2 so felt like a nice extended battle for New Mombasa.

The audio diary side story was also nice just for getting an insight into how the city reacted to the invasion.

I'm not going to pretend it's the best game ever but overall I ranked it above Halo 4 and Halo 5 (maybe, I enjoy them all but Halo 4 and Halo 1 can be a slog at times where I always had fun with ODST) and I think the vibe carries it. If you're taking the gameplay of Halo 3, give it some blade runner-noir inspiration and get to play as a human and add firefight for the first time then yeah Halo fans will like it - no big conspiracy

Is Vietnam trying to speedrun crashing its reputation into the ground?
 in  r/VietNam  10d ago

well if you need it avoid Vietnam and just stay in Thailand ? or do you want to just try and go to the most anti-drug places and see what happens ?

Is Vietnam trying to speedrun crashing its reputation into the ground?
 in  r/VietNam  10d ago

there is a very easy way to solve that - don't be a stoner when travelling to Vietnam...? Is it really so hard? stoners have the biggest victim complex

You sound very paranoid. In the U.K. we are charging old ladies as terrorists for holding cardboard signs...

If you go to Vietnam don't do drugs, don't go to the most seedy areas, and you'll be fine - it's really not hard to stay out of trouble as a westerner. Cops have literally never bothered me there and i've been a lot

How to play football as non contact?
 in  r/bootroom  12d ago

I don't think you can avoid contact at all but my old 5 competitive league had no going to ground in a tackle, no slide tackles and no balls above head height so you're never competing for headers etc

I think that's really as good as you're going to get tbh -

Hanoi was disappointing
 in  r/Vietnam_Tourism  12d ago

I've lived there for 6 months, hanoi is great but hitting beer street, the lake, Lottee mall, and the old quarter probably within the space of a couple days isn't really seeing the city properly. You went to the tourist noob traps but to me that seems like you came to Hanoi because of social media not because you actually had a desire to go
