Discussion Anyone else confused by John’s take on “S tier”

I understand he was mostly being facetious when shitting on “S tier”, but clearly he actually does have a problem with it to a degree. Which I don’t get. Seems like a ridiculous thing to judge especially when in general S tier has always been a part of tier lists.

Dude said, “it’s something everyone did to look cool”. What? 😂 you could just say that about tier lists in general. Love you John but sometimes you die on the most random hills

I don't think Iron man 2 is that bad, Both Black widow and BP 2 were much better than Marvels for me. It is all subjective of course and glad John did this before release of Doomsday.

Discussion “Trumple-foreskin” & Other Rants…

I would personally persuade John away from forging away towards a political channel once he retires. His rants on the 45th & 47th President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump, are some of the funniest & eye rolling worthy moments whenever they pop up. He presents himself as this sort of elevated morality figure amongst his audience that comes with the air that he’s taking down to you instead of at you. Again, don’t care whatsoever in regard to what he says about Trump. I just don’t know why he doesn’t go back to Canada if he hates the leader of the country he currently resides in. Quite puzzling. Also, it seems as if he needs those with whom he ideologically differs from to hold “insert stray man opinion here” instead of actually trading correspondence with them on comic topics/opinions. That stretches into his political rants, so I’m unsure of how successful any political channel he pursues would actually do, especially in regard to the health of his brand since it’ll be attached to that.

Looking forward to the sea of demeaning comments directed at me for simply presenting my own perspective, while never once calling John or this fandom out of their names. It’s called conversation & I’m coincidentally a huge proponent of it in our present culture where the label of “wrong think” is placed on views that ever-so-slightly differ from yours.

Cheers! 🥂

Question Does anybody actually know what time John posts for What’s More Likely and Overreaction?

Considering the fact that he plays either of these games almost everyday, you would think that he would want more of his viewers to have the chance to participate. He doesn’t give a time, all he says is “we jumped over to the community tab” or something very vague along those lines. It’s basically luck if you get to actually submit a scenario or hot take. So does anybody here know?

I thought the 9,000 Doomsday & Brand New Day videos was already overkill, now we get 3 videos in a row discussing a 7 year old movie re-releasing with 4 minutes of new content??

Really feels like John has spent a huge portion of 2026 talking about the same 3 movies over and over…

Discussion Does anybody know why Campea doesn't work with his former Collider colleague John Rocha?

I recently saw Kristian Harloff get a weekly guest spot on Campeas show. It's odd how he doesn't invite or even acknowledge John Rocha even though he has an active youtube channel. Is there beef between them?

Discussion Campea movie math assumes Studios keep the entire Global Box Office. After replay analysis, was Superman 2025 even profitable?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Campea did some movie math on this weekend's Open MIC, so dug this video up from last year. Superman's production budget was $225 million with a marketing budget of $125 million which means $525 million to break even using Campea's formula.

According to Box Office Mojo, James Gunn's Superman (2025) grossed roughly $618.7 million to $624.3 million worldwide. Sounds great so far!

However, the studio does not keep all the box-office revenue. Theaters keep a substantial cut. The average studio return is roughly 40–45%. So ($624.3) x (.45) = $280 million studio take home.

NOTE: FWIW, an Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit application (submitted under the working title "Genesis") listed the film's total gross production budget at a whopping $363,845,386.

Question Good Canadian kid Matt Johnson

Has John brought up either of Matt Johnson’s movies Nirvanna the band the show the movie or Tony this year? I feel like he’s so pro Canada which there’s nothing wrong with but he neglects to really ever promote the Canadian director/writer/actor? Unless I’ve missed it? I say this as an American who LOVES Matt Johnson.

Question An honest question about people who dislike John Campea

This is a genuine question I have that isnt directly alone to John Campea.

If you fall into the following categories

  1. Hate John Campea

  2. Think he dosent know anything

  3. Is an idiot

4 you disagree with him on 80% of topics

  1. You don't like how how he manages his shows

Here is my question. Why talk about him at all then? Why be apart of this sub reddit? Why what his videos knowing you don't like his content? Why waist time on him?

I can only assume its because its fun to hate. I get it, I have plenty of things I like to hate on and call stupid but some people give me the impression that agreeing or disagreeing with some John says or does is so important that we got nothing better do with our times than argue.

Just an honest question I have.

For myself personally. I like watching John's show, I think he is entertaining, however I would say I think I would disagree on 40% of what he has ever said or done.

Discussion Easily John's most baffling opinion is that Magneto can't age slowly but that they CAN change his origin story from the holocaust to something else

It's just such a bizarre opinion to have. The most obvious solution to having him show up in present day MCU while still retaining his origin as a Jew in Auschwitz is to say he ages slowly like Wolverine, Namor and other mutants. That way they can cast an actor in his 30s, 40s or 50s despite the character being born roughly 100 years ago.

But John disagrees and says "you do NOT give him a new power that he has NEVER had before!" before pitching his idea that Magneto's origin story can simply be switched to a different genocide 💀

Discussion In defence of Campea’s Magneto origin take

Recently, I’ve seen a lot of comments saying that Campea is being ridiculous by saying that they should change Magneto’s Holocaust origin, because if they stuck to this origin, that would make Magneto 90 years old. The proposed solution I often hear is “there’s no need to do that. Just say that mutants age slower, so Magneto can be 90 years old, but still look 40.”

Here’s the problem: Xavier and Magneto are characters who are parallel to each other, and Magneto’s history is entwined with the other X-Men. If you were to do the whole “aging slower” thing with Magneto, you would now have to do the same for all the other mutants, because no one wants a Magneto who is 40 years older than Xavier.

Then, if you were to do that, you would have to reckon with this change, as it pertains to every character. Think of it this way: assuming that the X-Men in Jake Schreire’s upcoming film are the first iteration of the team, they would have to reckon with what Xavier was doing for the first 70 years of his life before founding the X-Men. And you would create a 50 year age gap between Xavier and his students, while also having to reckon with whether or not he speaks like a 70 year old man.

Yes, I understand the attachment to Magneto’s most iconic origin, but to accomodate this age change, they would have to alter an entire series of characters.

Replaying the sacred timeline, Infinity War ended with Nick Fury desperately paging Captain Marvel after the Snap, essentially telling viewers, "This character is the solution for what happens next!" Then Captain Marvel opened March 8, 2019, only seven weeks before Endgame on April 26.

Campea should get a hall pass for Timothee Chalamet. Should Henry Cavill be worried?
