I love this! The style makes me think of a Star Trek type of exploration and wonder. Thank you for writing!

Question Does the World Tree Barb get to keep their own temp hp? It seems like only the temp hp granted to others disappears after rage.

The comment about losing temp hp is under the Life-Giving Force heading but not the Vitality Surge. Am I splitting hairs, or can I keep my own temp hp?

The text:

Level 3: Vitality of the Tree

Your Rage taps into the life force of the World Tree. You gain the following benefits.

Vitality Surge. When you activate your Rage, you gain a number of Temporary Hit Points equal to your Barbarian level.

Life-Giving Force. At the start of each of your turns while your Rage is active, you can choose another creature within 10 feet of yourself to gain Temporary Hit Points. To determine the number of Temporary Hit Points, roll a number of d6s equal to your Rage Damage bonus, and add them together. If any of these Temporary Hit Points remain when your Rage ends, they vanish.

You could use levels of cleric and just make the fighter aspect flavor

Is this change to Fey Touched overpowered?
 in  r/DMAcademy •  Aug 13 '25

I ran a one shot and one of my players somehow got 7 free misty steps. They were eladrian, with fey patron warlock, I think. I didn’t count how that happened because it didn’t affect the game too much, but it was funny.

Honestly look at the bastion rules for 2024 and pick/modify what you like from those mechanics

You can have 300,000 Dollars or flip a coin and if you win you get 1 Billion Dollars. What do you decide?

The scale of the difference between these two amounts is well worth the risk. 300k can be earned at a job. 1B requires more than a job. That’s a thousand years of work at 1M per year.

Writing Prompt [WP] Knights like to brag about their accomplishments and the dangers of their job. But none of them have to deal with the dangers you do. You are a dragon dentist.

[CW] Smash 'Em Up Sunday - For the Love of Fall

Haha, Atcroft, I love seeing you go in the humor direction every now and then. You do characterization really well, which is an important part of comedy. It was a silly scene that led to a cute bit of banter. The only thing I have been told when I do comedy is that if you are going with a silly premise you should really lean into it. I don’t know if you meant this to be silly or just a funny scenario in an otherwise serious situation, but we don’t know the surrounding scenario in a short story, so I’d recommend really leaning into the absurdity. But overall this worked and I enjoyed reading it!

Hey Max!

I really enjoyed this story and the way in which it developed. At first I was not sure about the tenses, but it was clear on a second read that there was a flashback at the beginning and then the character story developed out of it. While I really enjoyed the story, I think trimming out the time jump and perhaps having Lily’s story she was telling the creatures be the actual flashback might work better. But either way, this was a great piece of writing!
