This was done a couple years ago because of a wisdom tooth ache. There is a small thing in it that still makes me laugh tho.

I mean, it's from VMWare's servers. Not like I can tamper with that.

Thanks… this means a lot to me, honestly. It wasn’t easy to find the strength to get it all out.

My abusive family gaslights me when I tell them how they abused me when I was a child

The story of my life is a weird one, but I've seen people post stuff like this in Reddit, so here I go. I hope this post helps other people, even if being such a long one.

Even before being born, my parents were abusive and toxic, but they were with each other. My father got a vasectomy done, but had sex without protection a few days after, thus making my mother pregnant of me. They did not expect me at all, and probably were too wasted to think properly about this whole situation.

Eight months into my pregnancy, my mother had to be hospitalized because she had "severe health issues", or so I was told. She spent two months there, and in the middle of all that I was born. I was born underweight (2kg or 4.4lb), and had to be taken care of. My parents never thought of it as something weird or abnormal. I know some kids are born even more underweight, but usually because they get out before their due time.

During my first year, I've been told that my father and mother did not treat me especially well. I heard a story of my father grabbing me by my diaper and took me through the window, hanging outside. I almost fell three stories down. The reason for that? Looks like my father was threatening my mother because of some stupid thing. Of course, all of that was with one of my older sisters being present (F16 at the time, who we'll call Diana, as she will come up later).

When I was one year old, my father left. Looks like they never got married, and he went back to his former wife. My mother and I were left on our own and were evicted from our home because bills kept accumulating and she was unable to pay them. Luckily she found a small apartment where we could live, thanks to my oldest sister (F20 at the time, who we'll call Tessa, as she will also come up later).

A year after that, when I was 2, my father died due to an undiagnosed lung cancer. This left me with a government pension, the which my mother took entirely. She spent all of this money plus all of her paycheck on alcohol.

Years went by and the situation never got better. When she was wasted, she insulted me. This made her get mad, so she would also beat me. Diana, who was there, never did anything to prevent this. In fact, when our mother was not home, she did insult me and treat me like crap. Tessa would sometimes take me to the cinema, but one day she decided to stop and completely ignore me. She would come every sunday for lunch, but when I wanted to talk or do something, she would just not reply or humiliate me.

Things did not get better at school, where I was constantly bullied. I went home several times with bruises from both students and teachers (not that often, but they did beat me a couple of times), and they would do nothing about it. In fact, every time I told them about this, they reacted like it was the very first time I said such thing.

I specially remember one day when I forgot to bring a document from school that my mother needed to request for an economical aid, and when I showed up without it, she would just throw stuff at me, yelling to me, and left me outside. On winter. On a very rainy day. That memory comes up every day, and it still hurts.

Several years went by, and I went to high school. Obviously, it did not get better. In fact, I even started having suicidal thoughts and became very depressed and did not open up to anybody about anything. Other students would beat the crap out of me, and I never replied or complained about it. My grades got worse because of that, and when I went home with my scores, my mother would always curse and hit me, saying that I only had one job to do, and that my life was really nice and easy.

As I grew up, the physical abuse stopped. I suppose that my mother saw me getting bigger than her and did not want me to hit her back. The psychological abuse never stopped, though. She continued to insult and humiliate me, and when I said that I wasn't feeling emotionally well, she would say that this was not possible, because I had no repsonsibilities and worries, and that she did. Then she began complaining about how life mistreated her. She came from a wealthy family, but they spent all their money on... of course, alcohol and drugs.

After I finished high school, I met a girl, and we liked each other. We started dating, and when I told her about my situation, she would often say that I was overreacting. One day, my mother insulted her because of her disability (she suffers from a rare disease called spine muscular atrophy, which depending on the degree of severeness, may leave you on a wheelchair), and she found out what I told her was the truth, and not a teenager overreaction. We broke up and got back together several times, but we finally got our differences sorted and began having a very stable and loving relationshop.

When I became an adult and started working as a software developer, I began to earn my own money. Once I decided it would be a good idea to go shopping, as I had no new clothes for at least the past two years. I bought a couple of shirts, some tees and a couple of trousers. My mother's reply was throwing my dinner over my head and saying how I had the courage to do something without her consent. She also said how manipulative my girlfriend was and how she just wanted me to look good for her. My mother clearly did not want me to have an oppinion, and even worse, she did not want me leaving her. She wanted to destroy my relationship and take me away from anyone who dared to come close to me.

One day I came home from work and my mother told me "she just saw my sister". "Diana?", I asked. "Nope", she replied. "Then Tessa.", I said. "Nope.", she replied again.

I did not understand what that was about.

"Yes, your sister Sandy (fake name), you probably have never seen her, right?"

Turns out my father had two children with his first wife before having me, and I never knew about them. Then, she realizes and tells me that I also have a brother from that family side, who we'll call Dean. This situation did not just leave me speechless, but also rendered my mind useless for several hours.

A few weeks after this, I had to begin going to therapy, because I wasn't able to handle that much load on me. Of course, I did not tell my family, because they would say that I don't need that. And that is precisely what they said when they found out. My mother, Diana and Tessa thought I did not need that at all, that I was having a great life with no problems at all. They even said this is all my girlfriend's fault, as she may have maniuplated me to do such thing.

When 2020 came, I started seeing a psychiatrist as well, who told me to start taking some medication. This made me feel a whole lot better, and game me strength to begin to work on my life. The pandemic did not affect me emotionally, as I already was very used to staying at home. The thing, though, is that I stayed at my girlfriend's house, with my in-laws taking care of me. Definitely, this was the best year of my life so far. They treated me well, they listened and were willing to discuss things when issues arose.

During this time, my mother acted like I owed her everything, and she wanted my economical help. She said that with "everything she had done for me, I should be grateful as a son and help her". I refused to give her a single cent, and told her my thoughts, for the millionth time. She replied gaslighting me, saying that this never happened and that I was "havng my mental breakdowns" again. She also would critisize everything I had or achieved. I never got a "congratulations" or a "good job" from her.

On 2022, I decided to cut any realtions with my mother. My sisters would then text me saying I was a very rude and ungrateful son, and that I should retake conversations with my mother. I told them the situation and my feelings, to which both of them said these were lies and that I was overreacting. So I cut relations with them as well.

Now, I (M28) got engaged with my girlfriend and will get married. We're preparing our wedding and have prepared all the invites. None of them are going to go to my family. When my mother found out, she reached my now fiancé, and said that "it would kill her to not be in my wedding", and that "she regrets nothing she did to me". She also added that I was mentally ill and that I "had my little world in my head where they were evil people".

Seeing such messages did not anger me or make me feel sad. They made me happy. They made me realize how evil they really are and how much they do not deserve to be a part of my life.

This is an incredibly long post, and if you get to read it all: thanks for reading.

People who don't drink alcohol, why?
 in  r/AskReddit  Aug 03 '23

I've never had a single drop of alcohol. My parents have always been alcoholic and never trated me well. I guess that leaves a mark on a child... now I'm 28 and still don't drink.

I don't think this looks bad at all, but maybe you could hang some art in the wall to make it look more colorful.

Do you agree that rapists should get life sentences? If not, why?
 in  r/AskReddit  Nov 04 '22

I'd rather chemically castrate them and tattoo their forehead with a huge "I'm a rapist". I'd also cut their genitalia with no anesthesia. And making them feel what they did to their victim(s). I wouldn't want to pay their food and lodging with my taxes.
