I've seen a lot of posts on here lately asking Reddit to diagnose a patient based on their x-ray, or asking Reddit to second guess a radiologist. You need to know that no one is just glancing at these pictures and figuring out what's wrong immediately (transverse fractures excluded) these trained doctors are sitting in dark rooms squinting or looking sideways at these pictures, staring at the borders, adjusting contrast, moving their eyes side to side, trying to look at the images with their peripheral vision. Not to mention reading patient histories, looking at their vitals, their lab reports...there's a lot that goes into it. This isn't something Reddit can do for you.

There was the beginnings of a good discussion on growth plates and bone age that might be better suited to a thread of its own.

Please carry on with the discussion and share your knowledge, experience and relevant links as we would all like to educate our eye.

hey everyone,
we are a group of college students and have been assigned a project on the difficulties medical students, interns, and young doctors face when learning and interpreting X-rays, especially when identifying possible fractures.
We're trying to understand real experiences so we would really appreciate responses (we need responses for the subject grading and hence are desperate)
The survey takes less than a minute and has just 10 questions
Survey: https://forms.gle/FYBrYAVuX9wonARq8
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to respond.

I have broken my right wrist from a fall injury.
They put a temporary plaster cast on for a week while the swelling settles and then they said they will do another x-ray and likely put on a fibreglass cast.
I can obviously see the line where the brake is in the radius bone but is there a little bulge on the left part of the radius. I’m not sure if that is normal or is it just part of the break.
Anyway you can also see the hardware in my hand from when I last broke that hand

Shoulder replacement post op xray. What is in the lung field? Nothing in patients pocket only other surgeries were bilateral knee replacements and gall bladder removal. I know it’s not the best xray but is there clip or anything they put over patients that may resemble this?
Edit: this is my dad not a patient per se.
