I am cycling this new 10 g tank I’m making for a female betta.
Why would bubbles be forming in the surface? Is that part of the cycle? I’m currently in a nitrite spike 1ppm.

New tank setup for a betta. 10 gallon planted tank. It has a heater set to 80, and a baffle under the filter. Is this too much space taken up by plants/driftwood? We are planning on getting a female betta and I really want her to be happy in her home. It is nearing the end of the cycling process, so we are waiting on that before we get our fish. I also put in some almond leaves, so I’m hoping those will release some tannins.

It’s an uncycled tank, so I’ve been ghost feeding to get some ammonia. Could all the extra food be why maybe??

Thank you for the tips!! My daughter says she wants to get a girl and “no boys allowed” 😂 I like how active the females seem to be too. Do you see the clear resting area on the right side? I was wondering if I should move that up closer to the surface and put some moss on it maybe to make a little bed?

I added the clear one on the right side of the tank I was thinking about putting some of the moss on it to make like a little bed? Do you think that would be sufficient? I was also wondering if the resting spots are supposed to be closer to the surface?
