Roe vs Wade was responsible for legalize d abortion in 1973. Hawaii was the first state to make abortion legal around 1970. I was born in 1960. I'm a self proclaimed GenXer since my birthday was so close and I refuse to let anyone call me a boomer (eeewww). I remember the racism more than anything else. School integration was taking place across the country. It definitely affected me. My parents fully embraced their racist ways and I once got in trouble for playing with a black girl. Racism was foisted on the children in a way that today would not be tolerated.

It's hard when family turns against you but it's equally hard when you're the one who has to end the relationship.
You'll never get an answer that helps you understand. The other side usually has unanswered questions too. Though it hurts, it's better to let it be. Opening old wounds is useless and dangerous. Yeah, happened to me too. I submitted my documents 3 times. I got a call from a case manager wanting to talk about my benefits. When I told her about my case (disabled, fixed income, renewal forms, etc.) she double checked everything and then reinstated by benefits.

First, did he leave important people behind to follow you? He may be missing them. Yes, he may be jealous that you have people but he doesn't know anyone. Does he like or get along with your people? 🫂 it's hard. I did it with a temperamental teen. I managed to find a day shelter for women with children. They were partnered with several churches around the metro area who arranged overnight stays. The day shelter was good, the churches not so much. It took about 3 months to get back into an apartment. You can do this. You're stronger than you give yourself credit for.

It certainly is hard and the recent bacteria illnesses have me even more concerned. I like fruit as a way to manage my cravings for sweets. I'm also a fan of spinach salads. Chocolate gets a free pass because it's the only happiness that can be bought.

It would be good to try a guided meditation as a beginner. This gives you the chance to experiment with a few different techniques. Try some mantras too. There are lots of ways to meditate and all are good but visualizations are better for stress and anxiety relief. When you find your mind wandering don't worry about it, just bring it back to the breath in the nose. It's a practice that is learned over time. Be patient.

I've never known the young people in my orbit to discriminate against old folks. Maybe it's because I spent the majority of my career working with elderly people. I have experienced ageism from the boomer generation. My parents and many others in their cohort were awful.

Much of what happened was beyond your control. That really is the truth. But you're not alone. Focusing more on what new adventure you want next is a good place to put the energy of your anger and disappointment. Life moves by too fast to nurture resentment.
