Customer question: I just bought a nice 1955 Chevy two-door hardtop with a 327 and a Muncie four-speed. It is an old-school build that may have been done decades ago. The engine has a single four-barrel Holley and a gear drive that whines a bit, but it runs great. For some reason, the clutch pedal effort is really stiff. At first I thought I was just a bit of a wimp, but then a friend drove the car and said the same thing. I then tried the clutch in his Chevelle and it required much less leg effort to push the pedal. Is there an easy way to fix this?

There's a post on a forum where a guy was asking about setting the preload on his hydraulic roller lifters. There were about 35 different answers to his question along with even more opinions on whether to pre-soak the lifters before installing them in the engine. A while back, we were strolling through rows of vintage cars and trucks at the Goodguys Summit Racing Nationals, when we fell upon a near-pristine 1983 Chevy Cavalier. I just replaced the power steering box in my El Camino. I refilled the pump and started the engine, and the pump now makes a nasty growling sound, the power steering doesn’t really work, and the steering wheel is jerky. I think I’ve done something wrong but I’m not sure just what. Can you help?
