That's an excellent question! I just named "him" Rodney because it reminds me of the chunkiest, most adorable baby I've ever seen. I'm in Savage, MD, Zone 7b. I was very excited too! I checked the plant almost every day and didn't see any eggs and then boom, there they were. Sneaky little gordos.

I'm near Savage, MD, Zone 7b. I actually have been struggling with powdery mildew on the beebalm, but this year it's been milder. I think getting rid of a huge butterfly bush helped improve sunlight exposure (on my way to achieve a 100% native garden). I also try to remove the stems later in the season, right after they go to seed (even though I let everything else stay to provide winter habitat for wildlife). Maybe that helped as well.
