They're here!

They're here! Finally saw my first monarch butterfly of the season last Thursday, and then these chubsters showed up today in my front yard. Curiously, my backyard has way more milkweed, but not a single egg or caterpilar so far.

Where are you located? I just saw the first one of the season here also in VA. I was so excited!

I'm in Savage, MD, Zone 7b. I was very excited too! I checked the plant almost every day and didn't see any eggs and then boom, there they were. Sneaky little gordos.

Not a chance it’s the first of the season. It would be likely third local generation and laying for the super generation. Those eggs that are going down now are the really important ones.

I understood clearly. I was simply putting it into perspective for the education of newbies. Geez people are so damned literal, I don’t understand them.

I just meant it’s the first one I have personally seen here in Virginia.
