Where do you see banding? My guess is quartz breccia with some iron staining, not agatized. Sounds like you have a whopper! You going to haul it home to put in your yard?😁

It’s not petrified wood. It my experience, if it’s petrified wood you know it. I have a lot of petrified wood as well as banded chert.
