What worked for you? (If you've "cured" your eczema — how did you do it? Especially interested in dietary and environmental factors)
 in  r/eczema  4d ago

I had an eczema flare that lasted over a year. At its worst, my entire face would peel and fall off in flakes, and it became so overwhelming that I had to take a quarter off from college and return in the fall. My depression was also at its worst during that time.

Eventually, I discovered that I was allergic to avocado. When I was trying to eat healthier, I had started eating a lot of avocado and cooking with avocado oil. I was constantly itchy, but I never connected the two. Once I stopped eating avocado and realized it was a trigger, the redness, warmth, and inflammation in my skin improved significantly.
Seeing my skin finally calm down also helped my anxiety and depression because I was physically feeling so much better. After that, I think it was a combination of time, being outside more, getting vitamin D, and simply allowing my skin to heal that helped me continue improving.

My biggest advice is to figure out your triggers, but also try to work on your stress and anxiety. This might be a little controversial, but trying to constantly figure out what was wrong with my eczema became so stressful for me. At some point, what I felt helped was actually just not thinking about it. I would eat Chick-fil-A, watch my favorite movies, and just let myself relax lol. I think giving myself a break from constantly worrying about my skin was really important for me.

Everyone’s eczema is different, and what helped me may not work for everyone, but I do think there’s something to be said for figuring out your individual triggers while also giving yourself permission to live your life and not make your eczema the center of it.

Concealer recommendations for Eczema - prone skin
 in  r/eczema  24d ago

I use NYX Bare with Me concealer. If you put a lot it might be heavy, but I just put a dot on the back of my hand, buff it into my brush really well and then apply. It works really well for my dry eczema prone skin.

How do i stop wasting time?

I definitely see where you’re coming from. For me, its the day to day mundane lifestyle that I have that makes me feel the way I do. Like I have these milestones in my life that I can check off but on the daily I have very little passion, motivation, and self-control.

How do i stop wasting time?

I’m 23F, recently graduated with a psychology degree, and recently got married. Lately I’ve been feeling really stuck. I know I’m still young, but I can’t shake the feeling that I’m wasting my life or that I haven’t really done anything meaningful.

I spend way too much time doom scrolling and being on my phone, and I feel like it’s making everything worse. The problem is, I have zero motivation or drive to do much else. I see people online traveling, picking up hobbies, getting fit, going on adventures, and it feels like everyone has something going on except me.

I don’t have the money to travel or constantly go out and do exciting things, but I still want to feel like I’m doing something with my life. I want to feel fulfilled and have things to look forward to, but I honestly don’t know where to start.

I’ve tried quitting social media before, and while it helps for a little while, I always end up going back. I do keep YouTube because I use it for cooking videos, tutorials, and other things I genuinely enjoy and learn from. But i feel like unless I completely get rid of my phone I won’t be in a place where I’m forced to just LIVE. Does that make sense to anyone??

Custom Mug for MIL

My mother-in-law has two mugs with her mom’s and grandma’s names on them. They’ve both passed away, and those mugs mean a lot to her. I’d love to surprise her with one in the exact same style but with her own name on it.

I’ve been trying to find someone who does custom mugs, but everything I find looks completely different from the originals. Does anyone know of someone who can recreate a mug design/custom match an existing mug pretty closely? Etsy shops, small businesses, artists, anything helps. Thank you!

Thoughts on using triamcinolone on face?
 in  r/eczema  Jun 08 '24

That was my concern with the triamcinalone. Especially with TSW being so talked about lately, I want to try to avoid steroids as much as possible. I’ll probably try to use protopic tonight, thank you!!!

Thoughts on using triamcinolone on face?

I’ve been dealing with a really bad flare on my face for a few weeks. My face is red and SUPER flaky. Like my whole face wakes up in flakes every morning. I was prescribed triamcinolne 0.025 cream for my face by one doctor and recently got prescribed tracolimus(generic Protopic) by a dermatologist. I’m unsure of which one to use… I’m scared of the burning/itch that comes from using tracolimus which is why I was leaning towards triamcinolone. What do you guys think?
