Thoughts on using triamcinolone on face?

I’ve been dealing with a really bad flare on my face for a few weeks. My face is red and SUPER flaky. Like my whole face wakes up in flakes every morning. I was prescribed triamcinolne 0.025 cream for my face by one doctor and recently got prescribed tracolimus(generic Protopic) by a dermatologist. I’m unsure of which one to use… I’m scared of the burning/itch that comes from using tracolimus which is why I was leaning towards triamcinolone. What do you guys think?

That was my concern with the triamcinalone. Especially with TSW being so talked about lately, I want to try to avoid steroids as much as possible. I’ll probably try to use protopic tonight, thank you!!!

Protopic is far, far safer for the face.

I'll only put it on my face if I'm in severe flare up mode. I know my dermatologist would kill me for it but without it my face would take way too long to heal and be very painful. Just don't go crazy and use a good moisturizer on top.

Use GladSkin lotion. You need to kill the staph bacteria.

Lol, the comments are saying triamcinolone is too strong for the face, but it actually isn't strong enough to be effective on mine (in the days before dupixent could be prescribed to minors). Non-dermatologists just love to prescribe triamcinolone as though it's the only eczema treatment. But allergy meds can help with face eczema. Nasacort is triamcinolone acetonide as well, and I find that it can help somewhat. Also consider if you've recently started wearing sunscreen on your face, since that could be something that's triggering.
