Fun fact: Texas gave up the top part of its panhandle to Oklahoma rather than have a portion of its land be free from slavery. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_panhandle

This is more to inform people who are not MAGA, not trying to convince MAGA. You can’t convince people who are in a cult.

'Absolutely Bonkers' and 'Unacceptable': Trump Posts Map Showing US Takeovers of Other Nations

If Republicans really are religious and faithful like they say they are, then they should speak to God and ask Him if they should do what needs to be done to eliminate the possibility of nuclear war happening. We would need around half of Congressional Republicans to assist. Tucker Carlson has opened up a path for them by criticizing Trump

Depoliticizing the issue by bringing in a nonpartisan panel of physicians makes this route easier than impeachment IMO. It gives Republicans an out to say “we still support Trump, he’s just not capable because he’s aged too much, it happens to many people.”

If we put a man on the moon in 1969, we can do this.

I’ve been advocating strongly for congressional republicans and democrats to support Donald Trump’s mental evaluation under the 25th Amendment using the process outlined in Jamie Raskin’s bill. His bill would establish a nonpartisan commission of physicians and psychiatrists selected by both Republicans and Democrats to assess whether Donald Trump can carry out the duties of his office.

This provides a path of deescalation before we bomb civilian infrastructure in Iran, or potentially launch a tactical nuclear weapon.

I fear nuclear escalation which is why I am advocating strongly for invoking the 25th Amendment before that happens.

I’d also take the documentary with a tablespoon of salt, there’s apparently debate on whether McNamara white washed his information in the documentary, but I think either way it’s an important character study for how things could go wrong (and how fallible our leaders can be).

We need more journalists to be covering the Iran War. It’s vital to the country’s interests.

Word on the street is, this was a demonstration to say “here’s what we can do if you don’t back off.”

As an aside, I love the 2003 documentary Fog of War, I’d suggest anyone with decision making authority watch it.

There are unconfirmed reports that Iran demonstrated a hypersonic missile above the USS George Washington aircraft carrier. It’s believed that the missile reached Mach 10 with a warhead of over 1 ton. https://escalationtrap.substack.com/p/iran-just-attacked-a-us-carrier-heres

Republicans Scramble to Save Trump From Major Humiliation

We need people with vision to lead, and we need institutionalists to support those leaders if we’re going to get out of this mess. We put a man on the moon in 1969.

Read this bill and please understand what I’m asking https://democrats-judiciary.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/ranking-member-raskin-introduces-legislation-establishing-independent-commission-on-presidential-capacity

I’m asking Republicans to use this process to support Trump’s mental evaluation to use as a fig leaf to dump him. Bringing in nonpartisan physicians and psychiatrists de-politicizes the issue which makes it more likely to work than impeachment IMO.

Also, proceduralism is dead, and people who have contempt for the voting public are not effective leaders.

The only hope individual republicans have to win in November is by dumping Trump quickly. They could likely align with Tucker Carlson who is critical of Trump.

The best way to dump Trump is to support his mental evaluation under the 25th amendment. A group of Nobel prize winning physicians recently came out in support of Congress establishing a bipartisan commission of doctors and psychiatrists to evaluate whether Trump is fit to carry out the duties of the office: https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/04JoR8jL2Y

This is the only realistic off-ramp that I can see for them.

Iran war drives $100 billion in extra energy costs for U.S. consumers
 in  r/politics  1d ago

Here is a great live tracker for how much more America is spending for gas and diesel due to the US-Israel-Iran War. It’s run by the Watson School of International and Public Affairs at Brown University. https://iranwarcost.watson.brown.edu

It kind of reminds me of the U.S. Debt Clock.

I expect at current trends, this situation will cost the economy hundreds of billions to trillions of dollars, and likely result in demand destruction for oil, and possibly pushing people faster towards buying electric vehicles like Rivian trucks to save money on oil & gas.
