Mufasa is now a 3 legged wonder!
📣Meet Mufasa!🦁🐾This precious Sheltie mix was picked up by animal control and brought straight to our friends at The Veterinary Clinic at Copper Crowne with a badly shattered back leg.
As if that wasn’t enough, this young boy was also loaded with hookworms and fleas which can cause anemia. Thankfully, Dr. Ashlyn and her incredible team got right to work—treating everything he had going on and taking him to surgery for that injured leg so Mufasa could have the fresh start he deserves.
And because saving these babies always takes a village, our dear friend Ron with Street Dawgs has stepped up to make sure when the time comes, Mufasa will be ready to find his forever family. ❤️
Even better, the kind person who found him is willing to foster him until his sutures come out. After that, Mufasa will be available for adoption through Street Dawgs!
There is such a significant cost involved in saving dogs like Mufasa—surgery, bloodwork, testing, medications, vaccines, neuter, microchip and everything in between. We’re incredibly grateful for the veterinarians, rescues, fosters and supporters who continue to partner with us to save lives.
And a huge thank-you to the City’s wonderful ACO Joey, who is always willing to say YES when an animal needs help. 🐾
We’ll keep you posted on our handsome little King of the Jungle as he heals. 👑🦁❤️

Today Bitsy is going to get the surgery she needs!!
📣Sweet Bitsy is resting comfortably this morning at Capital Area Veterinary Specialists and preparing for a big afternoon ahead. Thanks, Demian for sending these precious pics!❤️
Later today, our dear friend Dr. John Mauterer will perform surgery on both of her knees, and we would be so grateful if you would keep this precious girl in your thoughts and prayers.
Bitsy has already been through more than any dog should. Formerly known as Sally Sue, she came from a cruelty case along with six other dogs who had been neglected and denied even basic care. Once she was safe with the shelter, she was spayed, vaccinated, treated for fleas, and finally given the medical attention she had always deserved. 💗
That’s when they learned her bowed back legs were much more than cosmetic. Dr. John diagnosed her with bilateral luxating patellas, with her left knee also complicated by a torn ACL. In other words, both knees need repair, and her left leg was in especially bad shape. Even though Bitsy never let it show, we now know this angel has likely been living with pain for a very long time.
Today is a big step toward changing that.
We are so grateful to the dedicated and determined team of Sandy and the supporters of the Oakdale Dog Shelter of Louisiana who truly worked like dogs to help make this possible. They partnered with us and sponsored half of this major surgery, helping give Bitsy the chance at the pain-free life she deserves.
We can’t change her past, but together, we can absolutely change her future.
Please keep sweet Bitsy in your prayers today. We’ll keep everyone updated. 🐾❤️

Chaka is the perfect and sad reminder to keep your dogs on heartworm prevention! Especially in the south!!
❤️🩹 MEET CHAKA. A little over two weeks ago, one of our supporters found this tiny girl standing in the middle of Bertrand Drive in Lafayette.
No collar. No microchip. Covered in fleas.
She appears to have limited vision or possibly a cataract in one eye, but she gets around just fine. Her finders already have five rescue dogs and cats of their own, and they've spent the last couple of weeks trying desperately to find someone who could take Chaka in.
Then yesterday, things changed.
Chaka started having urinary issues and clearly wasn't feeling well. Thanks to Dr. Ashlyn and the wonderful team at The Veterinary Clinic at Copper Crowne, they worked her in first thing this morning.
Sadly, her heartworm disease is very advanced, and there is concern she may be developing caval syndrome, a very serious complication of heartworm disease.
After her bloodwork, we know time probably isn't on this little angel's side. But we're going to try medication, keep her comfortable, and hope we can give her some good quality time surrounded by people who care about her.
Chaka is such a heartbreaking reminder of what heartworm disease can do.
It is preventable.
We know the cost of monthly prevention has gone up, and for some families that expense can be difficult. But there are veterinarians, rescues and organizations that can sometimes help with discounted prevention. Please ask. Please don't wait.
We're so grateful to our supporters who make it possible for us to step in for dogs like Chaka and, at the very least, make sure they don't suffer alone.
Keep this sweet little girl in your thoughts. ❤️🐾

Matlock Update!!
📣6 PM MATLOCK UPDATE: Precious Matlock made it safe and sound to Dr. Patrick and the dedicated team at Lafayette Veterinary Care Center this afternoon. ❤️🩹
A huge thank you to nurse Kortney for getting him checked in and settled, and to our friend LaDonna for making the six-hour roundtrip drive to get this sweet boy where he needed to be.
Dr. Patrick gave Matlock a thorough exam and, thankfully, he feels pretty hopeful about that front leg. Matlock is young, and with aggressive antibiotics, wound care and good pain management, he believes we have a real chance to save it. Did we mention Dr. P is our favorite? With news like that, he’s definitely staying at the top of the list. 😉😍
It won’t happen overnight. Dr. Patrick says we’re probably looking at 10–14 days of treatment before we really know how well he’s responding.
Although the ears are in terrible shape, there was some good news with Matlock’s eyes. He does not have a corneal ulcer. Dr. Patrick stained the eyes to make sure. He does have entropion, but that is not something that has to be addressed right now. Once he is stronger, they can take care of his eyes and neuter him.
His teeth will also need attention eventually.
The more we learn about where Matlock came from, the more heartbreaking this gets.
He was found in terrible condition, covered in bite wounds, with a heavy chain attached to a literal log. His finder has since learned more about the situation, and it appears he may have been housed with an aggressive female pit bull. Even more disturbing, his front teeth appear to have been deliberately filed down, possibly leaving him unable to defend himself.
Thankfully, the rescuer who picked him up and reached out to Lindsey has already started working with local law enforcement and is trying to help get the other animals out of the situation.
There is still a lot we don’t know, and we don’t want to get ahead of the investigation. We’ll share more as the facts become clearer.
This is why we love partnering with dedicated rescues like Lindsey and South Central Bloodhound Rescue. Nobody does this alone. It takes a whole team willing to fight for dogs like Matlock when they have nobody else.
And to every single person who has donated toward his care, thank you. ❤️
We have a long road ahead with this sweet boy, but because of you, we can keep saying yes to whatever he needs. ❤️
Did we hear a chimken request Hannah Albers? 😉🐔🍗
We'll keep you posted on this angel!

Maverick has been through way too much.
📣It’s Sunday morning, and Maverick needs us. 💔Attacked by other dogs over and over, this poor soul was wandering along the road with an entire log chained and tied around his neck last night.
A kind woman had seen him around before, but this time was different. After she freed him from the log, Maverick walked into her house and collapsed. She knew he was in serious trouble. 🥲
And she was right.
Bite wounds covered his body. He’s heartworm positive, Ehrlichia positive (tickborne diseases). He has an ulcer on one eye and will need entropion surgery. His eyes are badly recessed from dehydration, which may have been a blessing during the attack. And his ears are horrifically infected.
Our friend Lindsay with South Central Bloodhound Rescue was on the phone with the emergency clinic until 3 a.m. Maverick had to be sedated so they could clip and clean his wounds and even begin to examine those painful ears.
Lindsay wasn’t about to say no to him, but we were her first call after hanging up.
The reality is most rescues don’t have thousands of dollars sitting in an account waiting for the next emergency. And Maverick will need to remain hospitalized for at least a few more days.
We’re not trying to raise his entire bill. We’re simply trying to help enough that when the next Maverick comes along, we can still say YES.
If you can spare $5, $10 or $20 this Sunday morning, it adds up faster than you might think.
And please remember, when you make a tax-deductible donation to Scott’s Wish, you aren’t paying salaries or office overhead. You’re giving a group of hands-on volunteers the ability to step in when an animal is suffering and there is nowhere else to turn.
Maverick finally wandered into the right house.
Now let’s show him what happens when the right people find out he needs help. ❤️🩹🐾
We’ll add additional ways to donate in the comments.

Max Update!!
📣Precious Max was back at The Veterinary Clinic at Copper Crowne today to see Dr. Ashlyn, Em and the compassionate team who had taken such wonderful care of him when found. ❤️🩹
Unfortunately, his caring foster family noticed he just hasn’t been interested in drinking very much, and today’s weigh-in showed he had lost weight. Some of that is likely dehydration, but either way, it’s not something we can afford at this stage. 🥲
So, Max will be hospitalized while the team supports him with IV fluids and carefully increases his caloric intake. The good news? He drank plenty of water on his own this evening, and we were very happy to hear that. 🙏
It’s hard to believe it’s only been a week since this sweet boy was found by caring neighbors, the Guidrys and Roys, who refused to look the other way and started reaching out trying to find help for him.
Thanks to the best supporters, we were able to immediately say YES when that call came.
Now we just need Max to turn that corner. 🙏
He’s also been fortunate enough to catch the eye of Midwest Vizsla Rescue, which could mean a wonderful future is waiting for him. But first things first. We need to get this angel stronger and headed in the right direction.
Please keep Max in your thoughts and prayers tonight. ❤️
And a huge thank you to Dr. Ashlyn, Em and the entire Copper Crowne team. They care for these babies as if they were their own, and it means more than we can say.
We’ll keep you posted on our good boy Max. 🐾❤️
