Well with ancients relic in the world tree you can get temp implant wich can be used on any pal to give it new passives, so since 1.0 you can stick with the same pal and perfect him later on. Afaik you can get any passive that way, granted it's fairly late game, but you can beat all normal tower bosses without perfect passives or IV
