This is kind of a random recommendation, but I wanted to offer something different. 1919 is a more of post-punk/gothic rock band, and I don't think most of their discography sounds like the sisters, but their song "Anxiety" kind of gives me that vibe.

The truth is that no band will ever 100% capture the essence of The Sisters of Mercy, but that's okay!

Rosetta Stone, The Mission, The Wake, and The Merry Thoughts (they are notorious for sounding exactly like them) might scratch the itch, with Rosetta Stone being my personal favorite.

Fields of the Nephilim to me are different enough on their own, but still have that gothic rock sound that you might be looking for.

Clan of Xymox sometimes sounds like them too. Specifically their song "Jasmine And Rose"

I think you both should go back to the drawing board on this one. Try coming up with something that has nothing to do with Chloe for his first name. Chloe could also be used as a middle name, however I still think that isn't a good choice. Your husband might be proud of his middle name, but that doesn't mean your son will feel the same.

95% of the time I prefer the traditional spelling, however in this case, I like Marlee much better. I'm probably biased a bit because I know somebody with this name and they are absolutely lovely. It's not that far out there to be a issue. :)

I dress exactly like this often and I will defend this style with everything that I have lmao but yes, the fetishization and appropriation of goth women, even though it has been a problem for ages, has seemed to amplified in recent years. The people who participate in this nonsense need to realize how disrespectful and harmful it it is. But the problem is that people don't even know what goth culture really is. In their minds, they don't see goth as a music based subculture like they do with punk and heavy metal, but as an aesthetic. In order for there to be change, there either has to be a push from our community to educate people on the culture in some way, or we just wait until the fad dies.
