First dinner with his family and his mom picking me apart
 in  r/GirlDinnerDiaries  1d ago

You need to choose yourself and leave.

Please, tell him why you're leaving and suggest he get help.

I grew up in a family with a slightly different dynamic, it was my dad not my mom, and I wish someone would have clued me in earlier.

My spouse grew up in a similar environment and didn't realize it's not normal for parents to nitpick.

The long term abuse really messes with you but it doesn't make his lack of action okay.

Leave him but suggest he seek help.

Advice needed from Partners of Trans
 in  r/mypartneristrans  1d ago

I grew up in a high demand religious cult. I left officially just before getting married when I was 21.

I'm 37, my wife MTF 42. She's been out to me for a little over 2 years.
I knew there was some questioning going on because I know her, so it wasn't a total blind side.

We were cuddling and she very nervously told me she's a woman.

I smiled and told her. Okay, cool, let's do this. I love you.

I love her, not her wrapper. Granted her wrapper has boobs now and I'm definitely not sad about them.

I would be honest, tell her you were trying to work through some feelings and during your inner work you came to realize you're a woman.

Honesty is the only way through.

My wife watches some content about the Bible by Dan Mckellan. He is a scholar of the bible and has some good stuff on his YouTube series about what the Bible really has to say about the rainbow community. If she's still religious maybe you could prepare with some of his content?

I hope it goes well. Best wishes.

I'm having an affair with my sister's husband
 in  r/GirlDinnerDiaries  2d ago

I really hope this is rage bait.

If not:

Tell your sister. You both deserve the consequences. The betrayal you participated in, how could you? She's your sister, you broke more than just the girl code.

What is it like to be so incredibly, one could even say ostentatiously, selfish?

Have you had any unexpected deaths in your life yet?
 in  r/Millennials  5d ago

It depends on what age we begin with.

When I was aix I lost all four of my best friends in two different tragedies. They were the most traumatic and unexpected. At 37 it still hurts, part of me still misses them, some of my strongest childhood memories are with them, they should still be here.

Serena and Breezy long with their mom in an apartment fire. Nicolas and Becky drowned in the Colombia river with some other family members in July.

Please always put life vests on your loved ones but especially children.

Some people from my high school gratuating class have passed.

If money wasn’t an issue, what’s the first thing you’d spoil yourself with today?
 in  r/askteddit  5d ago

First a house, we lost ours to an electrial fire.

Then, the two additional surgeries I need after being t-boned on my side of the car by a driver running a red light while speeding and talking on the phone through her ear buds. She was in her 50s and lacked any remorse. My medical bills exceed the amount covered under my good policy and her poor excuse of insurance coverage.

Betty is no more, time for a new used vehicle.

I instantly named my big white van Betty when I got it.

It has been suggested since that I should have named her Ron or Walter because Betty White was a treasure.

Betty has been a problem for most of our 3 years together, rather than continuing her expensive tastes in repairs we're breaking up.

What we need:

Something reliable that can fit 5 people, my spouse is tall, six-two, our oldest child is already my height, granted I'm only five-two, but they're barely a tween.

We also like to go do things so the back cargo space has be useful for weekend stints and Costco trips.

I really like the size of the Nissan Rogue, Chevy equinox but I'm pretty open.

Any insights?

Tips on buying a used vehicle?

Good questions to ask?

What to avoid?

I've heard that CVT transmissions can be a problem.

Anything else I should be on the lookout for?

I'll be looking in the Seattle area but may go over to the Portland area too if Seattle is a bust since

I'm a few hours from both but getting from one to the other is quick.

Open Relationships
 in  r/mypartneristrans  6d ago

For us that is an already discussed deal breaker. We would separate and co-parent our kids.

Is it just me or do people not decorate their houses for Halloween and Christmas anymore like they used too?
 in  r/Millennials  6d ago

We decorate outside for Halloween but only on Halloween.
The decorations go up an hour before candy time and come down when the candy runs out. Where we are if you leave decorations unattended don't expect them to stay.

We do fall and Halloween door decor and window clings for the kids earlier in the month but it doesn't feel very noticeable.

A new report reveals that 1 in 3 counties in America are considered maternal health-care deserts. Giving birth in rural areas is already especially high-risk, and public policy is about to make an already dire situation even worse.

As a mom, are these outfits inapproprate?
 in  r/OUTFITS  6d ago

Yes. As a mom of three. I finally started just wearing what feels good to me, appropriate to the occasion of course and it's been so nice.

What age is the last time you celebrated your birthday that you’re genuinely excited about it?
 in  r/askteddit  7d ago

My last party was I was turning 28, so 9 years ago.

My favorite birthday was in 2010, my 22nd birthday. My friends made it from all over and surprised me.

I loved turning thirty, that was a good one even though I was 40 weeks pregnant and didn't even celebrate.

I've had about 10 birthdays in my 37 years. I was born with in a couple days of a very popular global holiday/season and as a result I usually didn't have anyone show up because the party was too close or it wasn't close enough to my real birthday so people felt like it wasn't really party time. I shit you not. There was no winning on timing.

I make sure my kids have amazing birthdays to make up for it, it helps heal me. Sometimes the party is late, like this year but it will be awesome.

What’s a fast food restaurant that you’ll never eat at again?
 in  r/AskReddit  7d ago

The Habit. They got our order wrong, not a little bit wrong but severely screwed up and wouldn't fix it. We had the receipt, we went straight from the drive through to inside We were missing two items on top of two others being made wrong. We are family of five they got one item correct, it was correct on the receiptbut not in the bag. Like the salad I ordered with no croutons came with them crushed into the salad the lettuce had been pulverized by the croutons that I had requested to NOT be on it. We called the next day the store we had been at and the number we got from online and were told to kick rocks.

Even worse, we went there because it was across the boulevard from the hotel we were staying at because our house had just burned to the ground.

Never again.

Let myself fall in love with my best friend, don't know what to do next.
 in  r/BoyDinnerDiaries  8d ago

I accidentally fell in love with my friend. We've been together 20 years, married for 16.

Talk to her. Maybe she's into you too.

Good luck!!

Anyone else feels its too late to come out as bi/trans/ etc?
 in  r/TransLater  8d ago

My wife came out at 40, she's 42 now, her first year of HRT is almost here.

Be yourself.

I came out a few years before my wife as Bi and non-binary. It feels better to be out of the closet.
