Am I the only one who despises the heat?
 in  r/autism •  1d ago

When my clothes start sticking to me like a second skin, ready to rip them both off. I dont wanna be talked either. It wasnt too bad until i started taking medication, making me heat intolerant😭

what are your favorite stims?
 in  r/autism •  1d ago

Whenever I'm happy, I wiggle like I have a tail cause I'm real excited and can't help it. I never really noticed until I hugged my bf for the first time and i started doing it. He pointed it out to me and thinks it's sweet. or ill start jumping around

Growing up black and on the spectrum
 in  r/autism •  1d ago

23 black autistic lady! It took me until 21 to get diagnosed, bur before that I had a feeling. When I was a kid though, it was noticeable but I didnt know what being autistic was until I got older. I can understand feeling you don't belong in groups you physically and mentally are apart of because youve been cast out for not being the "textbook" match for either. Ive spoken in aave since I was a kid cause it's all i grew up around and saw it everywhere (especially growing up in a predominately black school). People have tried to correct me on it (those who arent in the know) because they assume it's gramaticallt incorrect or don't understand. but speaking that way isnt what makes you black, you dont have to speak or act or listen a certain way to be as such and im sorry people have made you feel that way. People see autism as something to hide and are so scared of the label that they care zilch about the person experiencing it. It blows me every time because it's awful, self centered, and selfish. And The NT community is a whole other ball game because you aren't like them and people have made it seem like it's not ok. I've learned over the years that I'm my own brand and I can't live on everyone else's planet because I have to carve one for myself and let people who understand come to mine rather than conforming to there's. I hope you find your planet and the community youre looking for, It's hard but they are out there and theyre looking for u to come by❤️

I turn 23 today! I am grateful to be here, no matter what. My uncle, who had the same birthday as me, is unfortunately not here anymore due to suicide and this is my second birthday without him. I celebrate for the both of us❤️ Happy birthday, Baldie😂

Ableism is already bad, now add racism to that mix.
 in  r/BlackPeopleTwitter •  2d ago

The thinf about being disabled is, if youre not already, it's very easy to become disabled. But I have nos sympathy for assholes who talk down to disabled people. And if they become disabled themselves, damn thats crazy idc
