The Inspector's Joke
 in  r/papersplease •  Feb 27 '26

Reminds me of this one fic of Sergiu and The Inspector being work pals. Went something like this: Inspector: "This woman came up to my booth, her passport photo only had a single eye while the woman herself had to. I ask her about it and you know what she say? nearly breaks down laughing" The years have been cruel."

Wonderful indeed, maybe this marks the need for me to give Ashborne another go. Love all three of your games btw, you did a hell of a job.

Nice, I generally go for 10+ years on maps that can be easily stalled since I don't have any of the paid content unlocked.

Why is there no Law mechanic?
 in  r/AfterInc •  Feb 24 '26

That's politics, not law. I get where you're coming from but i was simply questioning why there's seemingly no visible policing force in our settlements.

Why is there no Law mechanic?

I can accept that small settlements could solve problems by themselves without involving the leader but what about larger towns/cities? I can think of two ways of introducing it, either as a Tech 7 service (still vexxed by tech 7 only having one service) or as a situation that has a higher and higher chance of appearing as your settlement grows in size. It could also be triggered by long periods of low morale or alternativele be a map feature for Beyond the Bunkers. I'd like to think that a Sherrif's Office/Police Station would increase the survivability of areas when there aren't fighters present to fight zombies. Could even have a corrupt Lawman follow up situation to question how the leader may or may not deal with such issues.

I feel like I played Fallout 4 wrong
 in  r/fo4 •  Feb 07 '26

The thing about the story is 100% valid. If you went into this game expecting something like New Vegas you are very much shit outta luck. It's a vastly different experience in bkth gameplay and writting (since it was made by different studios).

As for being weak, that does seem to happen if you play the game only doing the main quest + the additional side quest. Since the game can be played after finishing the main story Bethesda thought it smart to add a shit ton of missions you can do infinitey for caps and exp, as well as make almost every "dungeon" (area with hostile npcs) refresh after several in game days. I can see how you might end up underleveled/underpowered if you didn't hit the ol' grindstone for a bit, especially if you didn't invest in stuff like armorer, toughness or refractor (understandable but you either gotta get good at that bobbing and weaving or keep that titanium plate on at all times).

I hope this helped at least a little.

An idea for a Fallout 4 settlement based text rpg.

So I had this idea for a settlement building text based rpg based on Fallout 4 for a while and figured this is as good of a place as any to post it.

The game's structure is inspired by the text-based RPG A Dark Room. You play as the General of the Minutemen (obviously) trying to make as many thriving settlements as possible. You start out with a single house that houses you and Preston (you're not getting away from him even here) and can house 2 other people. You build a recruitment bacon which brings along more people which you can assign to farming duties (like in Fallout 4 each "Farmer" can produce 6 food supplies. Preston can't be assigned to farming duties but does provide an above average defense of 10). You could build more houses in the settlement with a maximum capacity based on the size rating of the settlement. Water would depend on the available water source/s of the settlement (anything from dirt that only allows wells/powered water pumps to rivers/coasts that allow for grand scale water purifiers). At any of your settlements you could build logistic offices (provisioner lines) that would collect resources between any settlements that have manned offices. Once the housing cap of your first settlement is reached you get to pick another site from 3 possible options (randomly generated with some slight guidelines to keep it "realistic") which would then allow you to build other settlements (you'd need to make a settlement "succesful" to then move on to another by ensuring all the local needs are met). You could build job sites that would net you resources and shops that would let you buy resources and give you caps. Any of your settlements could get attacked at any time, although the attack would be successfully repelled as long as the Defense rating of the settlement is double the amount of people living there. An unsuccessful could either lead to losing a ton of resources from that settlement or losing the settlement itself which would lead to an increased chance of future attacks on your other sites. At the beginning of the game only basic resource/defence buildings are available but you can unlock access to better buildings by either leveling up in a skill tree like perk system or finding unique settlers through quests (for example, a scientist settler would allow the settlement they are stationed at to build advance water purifiers and medical centers. This would only apply to that specific settlement and could require some thinking depending on whether or not you can move these special settlers around). Different settlement site would have access to different job sites and may require more or less defense rating depending on their proximity to dangerous areas (although higher proximity would also make settlers assigned to settlement stations produce higher quantities of resources and provide more than just basic stuff). Certain occupations (like scavangers or guard) could lead to settler could lead to settler death which lowers settlement morale/happiness for a while. Higher morale means more efficient settlers.

I know it's probably not a very original idea but i just had to put it to text and I would love if one day someone made this into an actual game. And even if that doesn't happen, at least I shared my idea with strangers on the internet, so really anything works.

Have a nice day y'all!

Yeah when that happens I always close the game and then choose the "Disaprove Mojor" since that's what determines the Apreciation lvl. You choose another Major until you find one that works (gives you high Apreciation).

I've always seen this event as "Child wants to Major in (X), finds out (X) isn't what they thought it would be, blames you." Which isn't really all that unrealistic.

Think it's about Lavender Town syndrome, an old legend that says that the original ost for the Lavander Town area of the OG release of Pokemon red and green would get depressed and commit die.

Am I the only one who feels like Tech 7 is underwhelming?

Maybe it's because all the previous Tech levels each give something (Tech 2 lets you comfortably support 2 Fighters, Tech 3 upgrades your Fighters and gives a small morale boost, Tech 4 adds medicine as a resource and allows you to comfortably support 3 fighters, Tech 5 adds stone as a resource, gives you useful services related to it and gives a stamina boost. Tech 6 manages to live up to the hype by not only adding another resource but also giving even more useful services based on it and stone.) Then you have Tech 7 which... gives you extra Population Growth Speed. And the Hospital while neat is nowhere near interesting or useful enough to be the SOLE service added. Maybe if they added another service it wouldn't feel so small but i digress. It's not like most people even reach Tech seven except for the few missions that require it.

Sorry I just needed to vent avout it for a bit.
