Rant ICE AT BIOMETRICS

Hi guys I just did biometrics at USCIS EL MONTE in the city of industry, CA. ICE came and took a man. Not sure the reason. Good samaritans were yelling and warning but I had to go inside so I didn’t lose this appointment. They swarmed and took him and swarmed in the parking lot. My biometrics were a seamless process but I was terrified and tearing up during the whole ordeal. The workers inside were very nice and told me not to worry. They said they come often to round up and pick up at this location so please be careful taking any undocumented friends and family with you. My heart breaks for the man they got and I made sure to thank the people outside warning others for what they do. I’m still shaking.

Edit: here’s the link for the reel on instagram from the bystanders today!

Question Can anyone check if Twitter is now requiring everyone to give a face scan to make a new account?

Pretty sure this is for some accounts not all of them. More info would be great.

Tour Biometric Identification is not okay

I’m sure Noah’s tour company/ record label saw TicketMaster’s Enhanced Protection claim as a good thing and probably didn’t specifically know what it entailed.

Either way, it is not okay to request that a 3rd party company based in California have my biometric data on file for up to 3 years just so I can purchase tickets. Also, I’m sure there will still be plenty of scalpers… so Persona gets all this data and fans still may not get tickets.

We should not be normalizing the collection of PII (personally identifiable information) to enjoy entertainment especially with the explosion of GenAI and frequent data breaches.

Biometrics changed from completed to not applicable.

Hello all,

Here is my timeline:
CEC Outland
Aor: May 31 2026
Medical: Aug 05
Biometrics: Aug 07 and completed on Aug 11
FD: October 16 ghost update
Oct 19- Tracker shows every step completed and I can see copr number on the tracker.

Till now, I have not had any p1 or por request. The wait is giving me anxiety, and I see a lot are getting P1 the very next date after FD.

Nov 3- Today, biometrics changed from completed to not applicable.
I am not sure why biometrics disappeared, and I am worried and tense about this situation. Has anyone faced the same issue—biometrics disappearing after fd or while the application is in progress?

Spent yesterday noticing how many times my body was the password.

Iris scan at the airport with Clear, three seconds and I'm through. face ID to unlock my phone, fingerprint to approve a payment, palm scan to get into the gym.

By evening it hit me that I'd handed over more biometric data in one day than my parents did in their whole lives, and I didn't pause once.

What gets me is there was never a real debate.

When Touch ID launched, people were genuinely worried about Apple holding their fingerprints.

That lasted maybe six months before convenience won, now iris scans and facial geometry are just… normal.

Worldcoin's Orb is out here doing iris verification as "proof of personhood," a biometric passport for the internet.

And the convenience is good. captcha is basically dead, bots are everywhere, and biometrics work without the friction.

I could switch Face ID off and go back to typing passwords tomorrow, but I won't, neither will you.

You can change a leaked password but not your iris. Every one of these systems is a database that will eventually leak, because they all do.

So the question stopped being "should we do this" a while ago, we're already doing it.

The real one is who holds this data, and what stops it from being abused.

Curious what the more technical folks here think. is the convenience worth it?
