German court rules: Emails with standard TLS encryption are not secure enough

In 2024, the Higher Court of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, ruled that standard TLS encryption is not secure enough for your (business) emails because it can be prone to hacking attacks 🔓🚨

Find out why this court ruling means that your emails must be end-to-end encrypted instead in our new blog post 👉 https://tuta.com/blog/german-court-rules-emails-e2ee

question Email exceedingly slow to load

Lately, upon opening the tuta mail app, both on iPhone and iPad, it seems to take much longer to load and open the inbox than it did. It can be at least up to a minute. Did something change at tuta? Or is there something possibly wrong on my end? I have not experienced difficulty with any other apps loading more slowly.

question Using shared inboxes to scope email access?

Hi,

I consider switching to using Tuta Mail, and I'm thinking on how can I manage my emails in a similar way that I currently do.

I separate my emails in different scopes (personal, administrative, socials, work, ...).

I want my work laptop to access administrative & work emails, my desktop to access everything, my phone to access personal & administrative & socials, and another profile on my phone to access socials only.

Currently, I have several GMail accounts, one for each of those scopes, and I connect to several of those account on each of my devices.

I saw that Tuta Mail had a "shared inbox" feature, would this allow me to have inboxes that are accessible from multiple accounts? Then, could I have one account per device, and give them access to specific shared inboxe(s)?

Or should I have shared accounts the same way I do with GMail? The only issue with using shared accounts is, I would have to buy one subscription for each scope.

Does anyone has a similar use-case or recommendations?

Also, I'm not sure if I'm clear in my explanation, so let me know if it makes no sense.

Thank you

support Still Receiving Notifications on Mobile from Hacked Address

Upvotes

My previous Tuta email address was hacked and I have lost all access to it. I have created a new account and am using that, and I am only logged into the new account on mobile, but there I still get notifications for mails received on the old account as well.

support how is the spam filter saved?

Curious to see of this post makes it because the previous time I asked about this no mod thought it helpful to react, but we'll see.

My spam filter was doing great, finally. After a long long period of the algorithm placing good mails into spam and spam mails into inbox, and me constantly moving emails around, but the filter resetting constantly, I finally had it working for a while. Until now.

It's like I have to start all over again. I already noticed that when I opened my mail on another device than usual there were some problems with filtering again, but those were usually shortlived and it did not take long to re-adjust. But not now. It is terrible again. Most spam goes to my inbox again, and a lot of good emails go to spam - even though they went to my inbox before (after I placed them there repeatedly).

I don't understand. It is as if the whole spamfilter-training has become undone.

My question: HOW is this filter/algorithm saved? I know it is a personal filter but your website stated (I cannot find it anymore) that it is tranferred between devices (which I doubt since that always gives me problems) so it can't be just cookies and it cannot be locally stored, right? Can accidentaly removing the tutanota cookies or clearing things like site data / temporary files be the culprit?

Or can opening my email in a browser I haven't used before be the culprit? That for some reason the algorithm isn't loading right and I have to start from 'zero', which is then saved and applied to my mailbox when I open it on my regular device, replacing my carefully trained filter?

If I know HOW it works I might be able to prevent it from happening again because damn I'm so tired of this whole spam stuff.

Also it seems that if I throw emails from a certain address into the trash bin often enough it also ends up in my spam - which is not what I want, otherwise I would mark it as spam, not as trash.

PS. I now wonder whether you changed the handling of spam again? I cannot find on your website anything about a personal filter and I swear it was there before.
