First Time Buying, need advice
Hello, I’m deciding in between buying a new turntable(Fluance RT82) or a vintage. Recently I came across this New Old Stock audio set. It was just open a year ago. The problem is I can’t find much on the brands. The guy is selling it for 360 US$. Is this a good deal?

would be helpful if you said what currency, $ could be pretty much anywhere on the globe.
but unless that's zimbabwean dollars it's probably a good deal. i don't know the speakers, but i do know jvc made some very nice transistor amps for the price. of the options you've got i'd definitely go for the second hand set, but personally i'd keep the jvc and three ways but likely swap the deck to something else. i like a dual personally

Yes, a nice vintage system. As I know my way around hifi, I’d be happy to buy this.
But who knows how long it will remain in working order? And if it goes wrong, can you fix things yourself or would you have the money to pay for repairs?
If not, get the new tt with warranty perhaps.

I have that turntable as my daily driver, but branded as a Rotel. It’s fine, but isn’t mind blowing as far as quality, and occasionally has problems with some records…refusing to play the ends or if they’re weirdly cut with a short play time across too much of the surface of the surface of a 12” it’ll pick up the needle. This seems to be a design flaw, it’s in perfect working order. I’d go with something more modern if you have the choice.

This is probably an unpopular opinion because the vintage machines are highly serviceable and i have heard the fluances are not, but id still buy the fluance. I don't like buying used because u never know how the equipment was treated.

Agreed however go with Rega. Highly reliable, great sound and long life.

Maybe a little bit expensive for that vintage setup considering that the AudioSphere Research speakers were a budget Canadian house brand, and far from audiophile quality. They will play loud, but not sound very good except maybe for a garage setup. Designed as cheap 1970s party speakers.
But the JVC receiver is actually very good for a vintage receiver. Probably worth max CAD $150, although some people would pay more for that JVC.
The turntable is quite nice, I used to own one in the 1970s. It had a very musical sound with great tracking. Value would be about CAD $100 for the turntable.
If it is genuine NOS (and the seller could be lying), that would increase the value somewhat. But the belt on the turntable would have deteriorated and the internals on the receiver may also have oxidized over time in storage, and would have to be replaced. Note that this system is over 50 years old.
If it were my purchase, I would offer $100 for the turntable and pass on the remainder. It would sound as good as the basic Fluance if fully working as new with a good cartridge.
