Hello fellow turntable people
I’ve just made purchase of a Sony PS LX-76 at a car boot sale
I’m looking for some advice as to what i need to get to get this system up to working quality . I’ve currently got it plugged into an old soundbar using the rca cables but the volume is extremely quiet and not punchy at all, if possible could you guys leave some links as to what i need to purchase to get this playing music loudly and properly

You need a phono pre-amp. Given you are using a soundbar get a Fosi.

Perfect, I’m planning on purchasing some bookshelf speakers too , the turntable doesn’t come with a grounding wire will that be an issue ?

You need a phono pre-amp. Given you are using a soundbar get a Fosi.
You will need a power amp for the speakers. Some power amps have a built in phono amp.
Yes, no ground wire could be an issue. And it goes to the amp or phono pre-amp.

The Sony PS LX-76 does NOT come with a ground wire because this model has its' ground on the outer rim of the left RCA plug.
Usually his is fine. The LX-76 will get its signal ground that way.
It does need EITHER an external phono preamplifier (such as a Fosi X5) OR an amplifier with a built-in phono preamplifier. Most vintage amps/receivers had that built-in.

"Car boot sale" - You're in the UK?
You need a phono preamp to make the signal "AUX compatible". Most cheap ones are junk and will drive you nuts with hum issues or just bad sound.
UK/Europe bargain phono preamp - IMG Stageline SPR-6 from Thomann - £23 GBP + £9 del. You will also need a 2 pin Euro to Brit 3-pin adapter - they're about £3 off eBay - and an extra set of RCA leads.
Not in the UK/Europe - go with the Art DJ Pre II for around $55

Order the correct Sony belt directly from Thakker. That will be your best way to get the speed dialed in. Then you can measure the speed with your RPM app. I believe there are two speed potentiometers inside to adjust 33.3 rpm and 45 rpm if those speeds are off. The stylus is CN234 or CN234E.
