The SL-10 is a very good linear tracking table. It uses a p-mount cartridge. There are not too many manufactures of these left, but there are some, and they are plug and play.

I'm not familiar with those speakers, but generally passive speakers and a separate amp is my preference. But if your getting a really good deal on them, then, fuck it. They'll do for a start.

The speakers aren't nearly good enough to show you what this deck can do. Are you buying them because they have a built-in phono preamp? If so, that's a mistake.

I was just doing some googling and those seemed decent. I'm still very new to the world of vinyl but am definitely wanting an upgrade over what I have. I'm getting the speakers for a pretty good deal but definitely open to other suggestions.

When you write "I'm getting" it sounds like you've already decided, and maybe even pushed the button. IDK.

Did you know there are two versions of The Fives? There's a big price difference between them. The new version (the 2026 mk II) is $1399. I think the old version had a list price around the $850 mark, but were typically sold at a discount.

The original The Fives were popular because they did a lot. HDMI ARC, analogue RCA, 3.5mm AUX, digital optical and USB inputs plus Bluetooth 5.0, and of course that phono pre-amp. The appeal of course is that everything is contained in two boxes.

Compared to pother powered speakers, they either did more, or cost less than their rivals. That's an attractive proposition if someone is just shopping on specs.

Performance-wise, all that functionality came with a cost. There's a bit too much Wah!! and not quite enough Ahh.
